Ghostbusters 3

XD ….but is it any good?

Okay lets dust off this thread.
Ghostbusters came out today anyone else get it?
So far I slid down the fireman pole, got slimed, caught slime, and knocked the stay puff marshmallow man off a building twice.
It's been fun. And a lot of laughs.
I got it for the wii, the graphics aren't the best, but I think they suit it, and the ghost look great.
-
well there's another game i can buy…..when i get a Wii
-
From the screenshots, I expected the Wii version to be a completely different experience.
-
I played the Wii verison of the game last night at Gamestop (A friend of mine was picking up the new guitar hero game). I can say the game is pretty fun.
-
?? it's different on different systems?
-
Why all the Ghostbusters 2 Hate?…
-
Ghostbusters 2 is great, it just isn't nearly as good as Ghostbusters 1 in just about every single way. Still a good movie either way. Vigo is awesome.
The game took me about 6 hours to beat which isn't to bad. Haven't gotten a chance to try the multiplayer out yet since Xbox Live was out yesterday. The game really exceeded my expectations in almost every way. I agree with most others that in some instances Bill Murray sounded like he was doing a Peter Venkman impression but otherwise the voice acting was spot on for all the characters, although Walter Peck was kind of weak sometimes. Gameplay is solid all the way through, I never got bored of it or felt like it was getting repetitive. Story was really good but the Venkman love story was really weak. I think they could develed into that a little more if this was a movie but since it's a game I'm glad it didn't bog everything down. Really surprised me how good the story of the game was even though I knew Ramis and Akroyd wrote it, still pretty damn surprising how good it is when you're playing it.
-
?? it's different on different systems?
The Wii/PS2 version has cartoonish visuals, it's said to be a whole different game.
I think the storyline is the same though. -
The Wii also has Co-op while 360/PS3 has online
-
-
why did they do different graphics for the PS3/Wii? wouldn't that be more work than keeping it all the same?
-
Not really since your working on one version of the game and someone else is working on the other versions.
-
A) I guess the realistic graphics wouldn't look to good on the wii and
B) they had a second studio take care of the wii version so the work wasn't a problem. -
oh how much i wished this was a title thread in a movie section… if ever, they should shoot this soon with the original cast still alive and kickin'!
-
Looks like I probably won't get this because the PS3 version has blurry graphics.
-
@Capt:

B)That's still extra time and money the company had to spend. -
The game took me about 6 hours to beat
Wha- Hold on.
Six hours?
SIX?
As in, the length of a day of school?
As in, I spent 6 hours yesterday just editing video footage?
Fuck that.
-
Yeah man, felt like they cut a level to me. I've read a more common 9 hour playthrough on multiple forums but I don't believe it. I beat it on Experienced (Normal) so I guess that 9 hours could sound right for Professional (Hard) but still a short experience considering. The multiplayer looks fun so that's my next course of action.
-
It's a sequel therefore it's natural to hate it.
That's retarded. Sequels are potentially superior to due to the fact that you can easily go into the action without spending the time to introduce the characters(like in the first film), with the exception of (if applied) new villian. With a sequel you get to jump right into the story. But then again, film makers don't really like putting as much affort into a sequel, because the general audience will love it anyways because its got the title of the movie they fell in love with last time.
-
A) what's wrong with realistic graphics on the Wii? Metroid has realistic graphics.
B)That's still extra time and money the company had to spend. And metroid had nothing to compare it to.
If the wii went with the same graphics it would have looked watered down in comparison so they went the extra mile and gave it the cartoonly graphics.
-
Loved it. Took me about eight hours to beat.
Wii version is pretty good too.
-
Eight hours!?
O_O
Gotta be something wrong here.
I've logged 24 hours on Patapon 2 (SO FAR) and there isn't an ounce of plot development or nostalgia from my childhood anywhere to be found driving me to play it. It's just fun.
That's not to say those 6-8 hours aren't awesome but 40-50 bucks just for that? Ouch.
I guess I'm not used to the whole next gen short game thing since I missed out on the ultra-short PS3 launch titles.I exaggerated in my first post but it's really just more disappointing than enraging.
-
No, you're right.
I've noticed a lot of new (recent) games are exceptionally short when compared to older games. It's like they spent most of the time just developing the graphics or…something else since most games are rushed out the doors nowadays (glitches? we can patch that later!).

This.
And when they're longer, it's all about backtracking.
It's not that new though, it became a trend soon after the 32/64 bits era. -
6-8 seems long to me, but I'm lousy at finishing games.
On the upside TRU gave me a 20$ gift card when I bought it.
-
Shrug
I'm used to short games because of the survival-horror genre.
…thinking about it now, it took me the same amount time to beat Resident Evil 5.
-

Wow, Platinum in 6-8 hours?
-
…Platinum...?
But yeah, RE5 took me about eight hours to beat on the first playthrough.
-
I just beat it too, and it took me roughly 8-9 Hours on the Normal Gameplay mode.
However, I only got about a third of the Game's Achievements, so theoretically I could log several more hours getting the rest of them…
But yeah, shortness of newer games annoys me greatly...
This is why I don't care about Graphics as much as I care about Gameplay.Twilight Princess, for example, was insanely Fun, and took me a LONG TIME to beat.
Why? The Wii isn't concerned with making the Graphics look "OMFG AWESOME" so they can pack more actual GAME into the disc. But that's just my personal preference XP
-
I have about fifteen hours logged in the campaign now. Collecting artifacts, getting all ghost scans and finishing off the achievements and just enjoying the storyline again on Professional.
I also started playing multiplayer a few hours ago and fuck its fun. Nothing like having a few buddies blasting two Book-Golems that are chasing after you relentlessly.
-

He means on the highest difficulty I believe.
-
Ah. I played it on the normal difficulty. I do need to replay that one though, haven't gotten all the medals yet.
So, anyone listen to the Vigo painting at the firehouse? He has over a hundred different things to say and quite a bit of them are funny.
"I see the evil of the times to come. Three more far away wars will come
and they will tarnish even the undisputed glory of the first three."I didn't get this one at first until I realized he's talking about Star Wars.
-
I noticed Chris Sabat and Colleen did some of the additional voices, I had no idea they were involved.

say wha who now…?
-
Finished.
Ultimately….not impressed.
Yes, I enjoyed it, but there were entire sections of the games that felt entirely unecessary and/or out of place.
Examples:
Second time through Sedgwick.
Whaaaat? Was that REALLY necessary? After the first VERY good and VERY LONG run through it, there reaaaally wasn't a need to go back. The Ghostbusters are on a boat???? Where's the transition???? It's just like BAM! Hey guys we're sailing! Poorly scripted transitions plagued it through the second half. Not to mention the ending, "VENKMAN!" YUCK YUCK YUCK
Overall story and experience though I have to say was very VERY in line with the series and didn't feel out of place. Kudos for a great overarching story.
But really...if I hear the word 'Peck' one more time I swear... Could't they have thought of anything more original than saying his name derisively in 70 different pitches?
Also wasn't crazy about the controls and the weapon system. Don't ask why, it's my own ignorance so it's nothing I can really complain too much about but I didn't actually get the hang of trapping down until the later levels.
I played the game on the initial hardest setting since I heard it only took 8 hours to go through. It took me a good deal longer than that on hard but I just felt like they were throwing more shit at me, not like I had to be a pro in order to handle it.
Overall so-so game. BUT it was amazing to hear them all back together saying VERY Ghostbustery things. Cute game. Glad I bought it used.

Hey Greg, you gonna buy Arkham Asylum? Figured with you being a Joker fan and all.

This post is deleted!
-
Yes.
Oh and I wanted to mention one other thing I liked.
The fact that they had a Slor in the game made my decade.
I've ALWAYS wanted to see what the envisioned as a Slor. ALWAYS! And there it was.
So happy.
-
sounds like james rolfe's (sp) review. (angry videogame nerd)
-
Ivan Reitman has said he's directing Ghostbusters 3!
HOLY SHIT
And get this.
Rick Moranis said he might come out of retirement for it.
Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME!?
This is too good to be real. They're gonna have to screw this up somehow. I mean, it's too perfect. A movie that MY ENTIRE GENERATION is looking forward to with ALL the faces back and in the right place?
No, there's no way this can end well. Blues Brothers 2000?

Great news, been dying for a third movie since the game was released. Shame the original Ghostbusters will be taking a back seat though.
-
Rick Moranis will come out of retirement for it?! I'm sorry, but I'm finding that insanely hard to believe.
Speaking of Ghostbusters, I watched the second movie day before yesterday. It definitely isn't great like most have said.
-
I dunno. I think the second one is just as good as the first to be honest. Although personally I think both go hand in hand all awesome-like.
-
You know, I have to ask something about the films. Why is Ernie Hudson so underused? It's like he's only there to add variety.
-
Because they're racist. I mean they're white successful guys, they're obviously just racist.
Or…perhaps it's because they needed a straight man to their antics and couldn't figure out a way to properly utilize such a character.
Winston was my favorite as a kid and his lines in either the film, cartoon, comic or otherwise were always the coolest.
"I love this tooooown!"
Not to mention Winston and Ray had bar none the best shot and most natural scene in the first film.
Ghostbusters 2 was awesome. I think anyone that has any serious hatred for it is viewing it through the glasses of an adult in a world where we bash multi-camera sitcoms just because The Office exists. That movie is the shiz. Granted Peter's zingers are, without question, far superior in the first film, but it had everything fun and absurd firmly in place.
-
I hated Ghostbusters 2 and I thought everyone else in the world did, including the cast?
Which is why they better not screw up 3….they need to end it with something decent.
I honestly had no idea Rick Moranis was even retired, though I certainly haven't seen him in ages.
-
As a kid, nothing was more badass than the scene they controlled the statue of liberty with an NES arcade controller.
That alone made the second movie better.
-Zera
-
I can't help but be excited for a third movie.
I just hope the writers got their shit together after Year One.
Oh and Greg: supposedly Murray said he would only do the movie if Hudson got as much screentime as they did.
-
Yeah I remember reading that.
I WISH they would utilize Winston more.
But…I don't think him having a reduced role actually hurt the earlier films. They just didn't know what to do with a straight male character. That's just my take on it though.
