I'm amazed. You can tell the same joke twice!

Stop feeding it?

I'm not joking around. This is very much theoretical talk here.
How to stop a troll? Toss it a piece of toast and let him nibble on it for a while. -

Ignore them! This one is boring anyway. Goes right for the profane insults and uses the same jokes, along with blatant spam. Juju is way more creative.
Anyway, Frog Princess comes out Friday right? Hopefully I can manage to catch it this weekend. Mostly the visuals and Keith David are why I'm going, the commercials have really done… nothing for me at this point.
Three fart jokes in a 30 second teaser, really?

Right, so if you all desire to have this troll STFU and GTFO then please stop feeding him. Or if you wanna keep him around, please continue to humor his pointless arguments. Just my advice.

Yep, this Friday, and it can't come soon enough. I'm gonna try and see it Saturday morning.

My ideas are very much real. -
Soundtrack is out on itunes now. "Friends on the other side" is sex.
I'm not expecting Beauty and the Beast, or Aladdin or Lion King…. But I am hoping for a Cats Don't Dance level of experiance from this movie.

Ah, I'm totally waiting till I see the movie to hear/see the entire songs. But yeah, from what I've seen, "Friends on the Other Side" looks like it's gonna be epic.
Cat's Don't Dance? Well, personally I'm expecting a bit more than that. Of course, that's just me, and considering the fact that I thought Cat's Don't Dance was just a bit above average. I'm expecting Hercules or Mulan quality at least.
-
Cats Down Dance is an underrated classic. Its not in my top 10 animated movies by a long shot, but it was fun, and it had good music by… Randy Newman. Hence my associating it with this movie, I'm expecting a similar musical experiance, at least.
He's no Menken & Ashman, but CDD showed he could do well. (I'm not going to count his pixar work since thats mostly one voice over song as opposed to actual musical)
-
Ironically the best part of Cats Don't Dance is the music. The rest of the movie is okay, but the songs really stand out in that one.

I will agree that Cat's Don't Dance is way underrated, but as for me…well, it's a very hard movie for me to judge and criticize. It doesn't help that I've sat down and watched it from start to finish only once. From what I can remember the animation was the great, the humor and songs were par or above average (I especially loved the final number, "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now") the story was well-written, and the characters were likeable, if not a tad cliched (I must say Darla Dimple is by far one of the most interesting and awesome approaches to making a villain I've ever seen). So yeah, it was good, but it lacked a certain zing, which at times made it seem kind of ordinary. I would certainly put it above other mediocre titles like Pocahontas, but compared to Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King it doesn't hold a candle. As I said, it's hard movie for me to judge, but let's just say I probably like it a little less than you do.
-

Nope, I completely agree with all your points. Like I said, its NOT in my top 10, but I liked it well enough. I watch it on the rare ocassion Cartoon network actualyl plays it. I do however own the soundtrack and the songs really were the best part about it. (And Darla Dimple was a great villain, in that you absolutely hated her.)
And thank you Satsuki for the youtube link. I may have to rewatch that later.

I think the ultimate problem with Cats Don't Dance is that nothing . . . . WOWED me. In other words, pretty much every aspect of it is good, but nothing is STELLAR.
Animation? Very well done, but ultimately a little cutesy and run-of-the-mill.
Story? Classic underdog tale we've seen a over and over, but executed well.
Music? Really good, toe-tapping stuff, but lacks the staying power of the better Disney soundtracks. Nothing sticks in your mind for very long.
Humor? Amusing, nothing gut-busting.
Characters? All good characters (kudos to Darla Dimple), but again a bit cookie-cutter. Sawyer and Darla being the tops. -
Feck year Cat's Don't Dance! It took me forever to find the soundtrack to that movie, but I love to death "Our Time Has Come", "Big and Loud", and as mentioned "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". I also love opening credits like the ones in that movie; something clever that gets you pumped for the start.
Also, MAX
-
Personally, "Quest for Camelot" is my underated favorite animated movie.
"My Father's Wings", "I Stand Alone", and "Looking Through your Eyes" are three songs I still dream of finding.
I used to have the album, but I can't find it. When I do, I have three new songs that I'm going to overplay on my iPod.
EDIT: I forgot "My Prayer", my only reason to thank Celine Dion.

As I said in my post, the movie just seemed very ordinary a good deal of the time. But yeah, I think we can all agree that it's a very nice movie. Not a masterpiece, but well worth the watch. I certainly wouldn't mind watching it again some time.
-
I'd say that Cats Don't Dance leans more towards the overrated side of the spectrum rather than the underrated; I'd seen relatively few reviews of it as being a bad film as the bulk of reviews of it being overwhelmingly glowing. That's for a film that just doesn't strike me as being all that special; it's not a bad film to me, there's nothing wrong with it technically, but it's just there.
-
OK, apparently Cat's Don't Dance wasn't that stellular without the nostalga goggles.
How does A-P feel about "The Princess and the Cobbler"? Overrated as well or genuinely good?
But back on topic, going to see it friday when it opens. I wonder what the majority of the theatre audience is going to consist of?

With any luck, kids and parents and die-hard Disney fans of all races and genders just looking to have an enjoyable time at the movies.

@LC:

Which version are we talking about?
The official version is frustrating as hell as there's obviously a good film hiding in there somewhere, but a whole host of unnecessary changes make a chore to watch at times. Among other things, the way they stepped on Vincent Price's lines with the overdubbed vulture is aggravating.
The various fan versions of it are a great improvement, but are annoying because of the realization that such a thing had to be necessary in the first place.
Far as the audience goes, well, I'd imagine that most of it is going to be the Disney Channel set as I sure as hell haven't seen it advertised enough anywhere else.

Why should I bother repeating myself?
And why do I have to take shit from a forum celebrity?
Konata started off as a small comic book character. I think that's humble enough. She doesn't appeal to you, that's fine because Japan has hyper-specified consumer culture. Disney Company tries to appeal to everyone, and comes up with brown puke. Pointless and drab. People will talk about it, puking. Those witnessing the puking will become sickened and puke also. They call this 'joy'. I think it's a waste of time, or rather, a suction toilet of time. -
This recent conversation reminds me; has Disney ever made a version of Three Billy Goats Gruff?
I don't even recall a short film version of it by them.
-
Now I'm going to make my typical impatient comment about how much I don't like about having wait 3 extra months to see a Disney movie in a movie theatre. I don't care about dub, lemme is see it now! For months I will need to fight the temptation of downloading the movie. -_-

Trying to force your opinion on people who grew up watching Disney movies or love the spirit of animation is kind of fruitless. If you're trying to start a debate on how Disney sucks, then try to do so in a non-trollish manner. That way, people might even pay attention when you post.
-
Wasting time is a pretty mechanical statement, so no, it is not an opinion.
Now if you must know, Disney as a multi-media conglomerate absolutely deserves to be shot down. There is nothing special about having grown-up with something, some people grew up during the Holocaust some time ago and I am sure they feel nostalgic about it. So. Again with the troll comments, right? I do not understand them and cannot if further clarification is not given.
And I already told you, I am also animated, it seems that of course we could be obsessed with the symbols that represent some extra "spirit". I have been considering death much recently, which may mean I am in love with the opposite. Or you could realize that even the dead are animated, but their movement is natural progress and not forced process. -
anyone who cant appreciate cats dont dance needs to have their brains checked
-
That's really insulting. You have a tendency for this line of comments.
This is the arrogance afforded to people with special colors for their name's and such. They don't say nearly as much as we do. You dole out gibes like it mean nothing. I don't feel the passion of anything you say.
What a ridiculous case, when someone is given power on a free to use bulletin board. -
THAT MAKES ME So ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I'm angry too because every time I see that name I get this song in my head
wd3Mt8JBBBgdamn I hate Bob Seger

I am both amazed and infuriated that you can get to where you are by making such bland pop-culture references.
And I'm really happy you looked up a youtube video for something you hate, to give an example right? Without it your post would look barren and dumb. It would have been a good analogy. -
Iron Giant>Cats Don't Dance>Space Jam
I'm really not sure where Quest for Camelot fits, I only saw it the once. Balto and Anastasia should be in there too, but they weren't WB.
-
Bytheway, I probably shouldn't ask… but why I see robby as just a regular member? I almost keep skipping his replys because of it .
So nobody hasn't seen the movie yet? I thought you could see it in selected cities already.

I pissed of E1n in some way. Same reason my user name has been… changed.
Pay no attention to the OTHER guy running around as "RobbyBevard", that honestly is NOT me, but someone else enjoying my current demoted-ness..
-

That's what I always say about Family Guy.
That's not how I got where I am though, you don't want to know about that.

shrug
So nobody hasn't seen the movie yet? I thought you could see it in selected cities already.
If you look back a page, there was someone who saw it (I'm assuming you meant has rather than hasn't).
It will be out Friday here.

SHIT HAS HIT THE GODDAMN FAN UP IN THIS MOTHERFUCKER

I remember Iron Giant. I saw it in theaters when it first came out. Nice artwork, kind of boring though. Wasn't really that gripping.
-
Methinks you need to see Iron Giant again. Iron Giant was GREAT.
But then, I seem to really dig Brad Bird's stuff. Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Family Dog all kicked my ass in the awesome department, but I know people who have been totally bored by them too, which astonishes me. I don't know how people could NOT like these movies, but…. Different tastes and all.
-
Well trashing on Family Guy and being vague certainly amps your cartoon critique respectability up to about a million.
It's too bad that my power level is 10 million.

You chose a nice example. Concept art is always better in these cases. Too bad they don't have much to ride on except MAGICK. Imagine this guy cutting people up with an electric carving knife.
