The Henshin Belts are the funnest things to wear. XD I love walking around with Kivat on, I want to paint the stained glass on my face sometimes.

I have actually kinda messed up already. But I am hoping I can "fix" my mistake when I stub the pony tail and put the Odango on it.
oh god. you've got a challenge ahead of you. I can't wait to see, even if it isn't perfect. :) chibi is one of my favorite sailor soldiers
Thank you!
While I am already agonizing over it being messed up slightly, I am wondering how good I need to make it. It is for my five year old after all, so it probably will be torn up anyway.
how did you mess up, may I ask?
I had to put it into a lower pony tail and cut it before putting it into the higher pony tail.
When I cut it, I cut it a bit too short. The pony tail needs to be about maybe an inch-inch and half higher. But some of hte hair is too short to pull up any higher.
However I think that I can fix it when I get the Odangos on it.
I wonder if you could do the odangos seperate and pin them on? you'd probably have to buy more hair for that though.
The hair that I cut will be wrapped around egg shaped styrofoam. Then the pony tail I have will be stubbed and the Odango placed on that.
My worry is the Odango won't sit straight up like it is suppose to, but will go out to the side. But I won't know that until I can find my eggs and hold them up. However looking at it. I think that if I cut the hole in the styrofoam in the side instead od the bottom like I was original planning it would work.
hahaha I think I may have figured something out!
Well I now have it in pig tails. They aren't quite even….but how uneven do they look to you guys? Is it horribly noticable?
!
I think they look adorable Omni!!!! The one on the right is obviously longer, but I'm pretty sure that's cause you're not done with it yet, however, I think so far it's looking really cute!! I'm sure your daughter won't mind AT ALL she'll just be super excited and happy to be cosplaying such a bratty/cute character!!!!
GOD you make me want to work on stuff and it's almost 9:30 at night XDDDD
hahaha yeah both pig tails will be stubbed ( cut until they are nothing but little nubs.)
Awww, really? Well either way it's going to look awesome I bet!! I wish I were braver/better at wig working x_x; I actually have some wig pins now, I'm going to stab a TON into my Kidd wig and actually spike it up accurately as I can. I'm just afraid cause I'm soo new at it x_x;
for making them stand up, talk to charli. remember she made that conis wig. I think she explained to someone about how she made it stand up. sewing pipe cleaners, or wire or something to the wig base?
Yeah I was really nervous about cutting it.
The last time I did any major work for a wig, it was for an original character. So when I cut that wig, I didn't really have to worry about anything. But since this is an actual character wig, I had to be really careful. And even though the pig tails will be stubbed. When I intially cut it, I could (and I did) still cut it too short. But in the end, it looks like it will be working out.
I also made a Black Lady wig, actually! Using that same wig you are, Omni, and you're going about it about the same way I did.
I think so far it's looking fine. Remember, when you put the odangos on and sew them to the stubs, you can add a few anchoring stitches to have it sit at the angle you want. Just have the stitches sit in a place that helps pull the odango into place.
As for orange suiting material…think outside the box. Remember that you don't have to using just suiting material. I used a cotton sateen for Edgeworth's suit, and that comes in a plethora of colors. Also, most, if not all, suiting is polyester, and wil not take dye at all, as it's a synthetic material. I'd try to steer clear of dyeing anything, because nothing will come out as rich and vibrant as something you could by already in that color.
Try looking for finely woven cottons or twills; twill suits are common too!
EDIT:
LOL Hetalia cosplay in progress.
!
For those not in the know, that is Austria.
Thanks Charli! I didn't think about stitching the Odango to the stub or anything. The tutorial I am using says to just hot glue it. So I was going to do that. But adding the anchoring stitch would be smart. Thanks!
You're welcome! I never used hot glue on mine. I just used the caulk and thread. Interesting!
The stitches will definitely hold better than hot glue, so good luck!
Yeah I do think the stitches will hold together better than hot glue, especially on a wig for a five year old.
I will probably still use the hot glue, but add on the stitching as well. Just to you know extra secure it. I mean the wig is going to get tore up no matter what, but at least it wil maybe last a few minutes longer.
I'll try to find something with your suggestions Charli! I just… UGH I wanted to get something while Hancock was having their sale since I know for SURE I'm going to need 5 yards of fabric for a suit top and pants xD maybe I'll get lucky somewhere else!
And HETALIA xD I don't know all the characters, but you look GREAT! I always wanted to cosplay Japan though I really like Germany as far as characters designs xD When did you get into Hetalia O.O I know it's INSANELY popular I just didn't know you liked it! I know there was a crazy ENORMOUS gathering at A-Kon xD wish I'd seen it!
Well sis, I got my material out of the way, so we don't have to worry about Akainu x_x;;; Sorry Kizaru's is soo damn irritatingly hard x_x; Luckily Sami's will be MUCH easier..it'll just suck buying all those blue buttons, even though they're soo sooooo pretty and awesome _
You thought the A-Kon gathering was huge? The AFest gathering was easily more then twice the size. It was awesome and horrifying at the same time.
We've started a second wave of Hetalia watching XD

hot glue?! but arn't wigs synthetic. wouldn't it just melt the hair?! don't mind me if this is a dumb question. i don't know much about wigs.

lol I had more of a chance at melting the hair when I straightened it, then hot glueing. It will be low temp glue.
And even then, the hot glue will be put inside the hole of the styrofoam eggs and then put on the stub anyway. And the stub will be covered in clear caulk any way.
Uh, I got into Hetalia…last week! Yeah, last week. XD
I don't plan on having actual Austria done for a bit; I'll probably end up working on him and Dahlia at the same time.
And I'm so saving the Austria pattern for modification for Young Edgeworth...Heh.
Omg You Are Going To Do Young Edgey?!!!?!!??!
just went and looked up a picture of young Edgeworth… he looks the same age as old Edgeworth... only his suit is different xD though I do like that suit even MORE _ it looks so regal! He should wear that one all the time xD
You know Oldbag will be all over that young piece of ass XD
((I couldnt resist XD))
Gonna go see if I can spend even MORE money on cosplay materials as my sis and I head to Tulsa so I can exchange this shirt for the THIRD TIME GAHHHHHHHHH. Anyways, hopefully we can find something good!
didn't get to buy ANY FABRIC for Kizaru's suit today =_= am I just unlucky? I can't find ANYTHING I like. Everything I found was too thing… it would wrinkle way too easily and I want something stiff but not so stiff I'd brake a needle everytime I try to sew on it. I UGH am so frustrated Dx
Actually, Young Edgeworth has shorter hair and a more baby face. XD
BUT YES I'm going to do the Amadeus reject coat. Gonna look like I belong in Vienna. XD
Have you tried looking for cashmere?(not sure if that's the name in english, the more wool it has the more expensive it gets) Normally it works great for suits, a good substitute might be something we call Tergal here, which I think is a cotton-polyester mix >.>;;;.
I got my pink rose for Akainu..fufufufu..so I've got all the material for the suit, the lining, I've got shoes and a rose, just need the hat, the shirt, and the beautiful elegant Admirals jacket xD GOD I'm soo excited!
For the Kizaru suit fabric, would it help if you put interfacing between it and the lining? Though that's a bit of extra work shouldn't that keep it stiff enough it irons more easily/less wrinkles?
Yes, interfacing. It's a godsend. Get fusible heavyweight, it's what I used on both the suits I made. And it irons on! No sewing required, just follow the directions!
It is amazing <3 I'm still so happy that I got Kaku's collar standing up. I doubled the interfacing thing there is no way this flimsy crap will hold the collar up but it does >_> It does well XD
Mmh, I have no idea what this interfacing thing is o.O; . Must google it! :3
so…. do you line the entire suit in that facing....? or just the part where the buttons are going to go o___o I'm thinking it would be an incredibly annoying task to line the entire coat in it...? unless you're supposed to Dx
also, Charli, do you have a suggestion for a specific brand or type of shoulder pads? I know you used them for your suits so I was only curious! I wanna put shoulderpads in the captains coats so they look square xD my own shoulders are quite WIDE enough I don't want shoulderpads in my own suit...xD
It wouldn't be too much to put the iron on interfacing to your pieces of fabric (IDK would you put it in the sleeves? I guess you would, but that would make them pretty stiff) Either medium or heavy weight, that should keep it from wrinkling as easily. It means cutting out those interface pieces and ironing them onto the fabric so more time, but it would definitely help the wrinkling factor if the fabric you want to use isn't as stiff as you'd like.
THe pattern will tell you what pieces require interfacing and which don't. Just follow everything that the pattern says and you'll be fine!
As for the shoulderpads, I didn't have a choice of brands, but rather, width. I got inch thick ones because I have narrow girly shoulders and had to look like a Capcom man. XD I'd go for probably inch of half inch thickness for you two. =D
I've actually followed interfacing before so I know about the pattern pieces xD i just was making sure about making the suit stiff in general if I should put it everywhere xDD I made a green vest and lined it for my sis for a My Little Pony cosplay… I was so happy it turned out so well ;____; it made me feel accomplished since I'd never made a decent vest or ironed in interfacing xD for my Luffy captains coat I actually didn't iron in any facing... I sewed it RIGHT in there... which I don't want to do at ALL for the Admiral coats.
god... I wanna cosplay SO BAD Dx what can I start on first o___o I wanna get Kizaru material Dx damn you Hancock AND Joanns! I didn't like any of their fabric at all. I don't want ORANGE orange... I want something lighter and I refuse to die 5 yards of material. I also gotta sew on an UNGODLY amount of bias tape... but I wanna work on it so bad ;__;
No, only put interfacing on the pieces where it calls for it. =D
oh shit. Just remembered I'm gonna need some orange fur for Inzauma xD SHIT. I know everything for that costume will be easy except for the WIG D: I know the other amazing Inazuma on this thread had help with hers, but she gave me an idea for the basic concept… I think I'm gonna get a LONG ASS white wig xD no point in wefting color into a wig when I can copic dye it...... YES xD
ok sorry got bored and i'm in a cosplay mood at nearly 2 am D: thanks for the advice. Btw Charli... are the lapel hard on the suit patterns? I've never even LOOKED at one I'm scared ;__; I wasn't around when you made my sisters Sanji coat jacket
They weren't too bad. Just follow the directions to a T!
Also, I'd just buy two wigs and sew them together for Inazuma. You'd have to cut them both in half, but it'd be a lot less of a hassle than copic dyeing an entire long wig!
So I was really saddened by Iva's colours being black instead of red. I had fabric that I had been saving to make his outfit. T-T But things are looking up! I found that same exact fabric in red at a Joann's last night. Plus today I realized that a pair of boots I had sitting around doing nothing would work for Iva! So now I am excited!
Sorry for the horrible picture. I took it myself. I will try to get better ones later tonight after my hubby gets home.

Those boots are amazing! I have pretty much the same ones in black, since I'm doing Ivankov in black colors. Red would still be amazing! I'd probably be doing Iva in red except I bought a whole bunch of black colored stuff before volume 56's cover came out.
So are Iva's colors black? The anime and the manga seem to disagree once again.
Yeah from what I can see it looks black in the anime, but is red for the manga. XD I had a bunch of leftover black fabric from a different costume I was going to use for Ivankov. So when his colours came out in red in the manga I was really sad. XD But it has worked itself out. Plus I got a 50% coupon for Joann fabrics! So it won't really cost me that much to buy the fabric. I am so excited now!
It really bothers me that the colors are differing so much from the anime to the manga in this arc @_@ And when did Luffy get the yellow vest?
I'd much rather do the black coat/suit and green cravat for Croc from the manga to the green/red/bright blue train wreck in the anime >_<

Are you going to be wearing Croc at Acen? Cause if you are, that would be perfect! Since I am also doing the manga version of Ivankov, we can match!
Yes I am <3 That would be epiiiic, it sounds like there is a big group up there.
I'm so paranoid, I cannot get anyone else to commit to going >_<
Yes we have a large group for OP at ACen and it gets bigger every year! <3
Hopefully they fully commit soon!
OH man, that must be sooo nice Omni!! there's not even a following here anymore, I don't know anyone outside of Arei who's even doing One Piece cosplay here around the cons I try and go to. We're hoping our friends Sami and Pyro will be our willing slaves, I mean, our lovely friends who will dress up for us at Anime Matsuri xDD I don't even know what it's like to have a big awesome gathering __ The one at Akon was OKAY at most, I didn't really get to hang out with the people at the photoshoot since ours was at the same time x_x; Though I did get some great pics with my friend Sami and another friend who was dressed as Usopp xD He actually had an impact dial, it was soooooo awesome __ We're also close to the same height, so we sorta looked like twin Usopps, only I'm a girl and he's a guy..and..we honestly don't look alike I was just saying.. xDDD PFFTT
I actually really like Ivankovs manga colors. I'm glad he's not just black, but at the same time I almost PREFER the black since we're going to have to find either red or black material for our friend to do Iva-chan..and..I dunno WHERE or HOW he's gonna find boots to match unless we take a trip to the hooker store once we're down in Houston again x_x ahahah fun times. I'm glad I got most of my material out of the way minus my captain's coat. Finding 12 yards of the same white material is gonna be tricky x_x;;;;
My sis also said there's 10 buttons on each Admirals coat..so..that's 30 yellow/gold buttons to buy…oh joy..I already have a TON of those thanks to Paulie and Sanji xDD I mean..I will have to buy more, but all together I must have 100 gold buttons after this is said and done xD
