No, it doesn't. Never ever ever.
@Kairouseki:
And I have to disagree with you Buuhan, I loved Evil Dead.
Sorry, shit sucked. Especially when compared to the sequels.
@wolfwood:
If he follows it up by adding that Clerks also needs a remake we might wanna consider stoning him.
No worries, Clerks is awesome.
@Ubiq:
First, you're wrong. Second, Raimi already remade Evil Dead once; it's called Evil Dead II. That's actually the second remake as Evil Dead was a remake of a short film Raimi did in his backyard.
Evil Dead II being a remake is opinion, Raimi has countlessly said it's not a remake and was simply done as he couldn't use a recap of the first film due to legal reasons and he didn't just wanna jump into the film where the first ended. He says people can come up with their own conclusion tho.
But I don't consider it a remake, I consider it more or less pretending the first film didn't happen, which was a smart move. With the whole Linda affair, Ash's hand, etc… the first film can't really easily connect to the second.
When I refer to the "Evil Dead Series" or others mention it, a trilogy doesn't come up in my mind, all that comes up is Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. That is the series, Evil Dead was more or less a stepping stone and I appreciate it for that, but it's NOT a good movie, plain and simple. Also yes, I'm well aware of Within the Woods. But that too was a stepping stone, the first film was just a more expensive stepping stone.
I'm not going down your throats with this, I understand tons of the fanbase loves the original. But as far as I'm concerned the first film never really existed as far as the series is concerned. Maybe my opinion on it will change someday, but right now it doesn't even feel like it's part of the same universe. There was just too many improvements in the sequels, the first film is no where near as unique.
And really, stoning me? Surely you can do better than that being Evil Dead fans. That's a challenge.
