-Hiruluk's Death-
I don't have much to say about this one. This moment just hit me very hard and I couldn't stop crying. The second Hiruluk showed his relief that no one was hurt from the fake distress call, I just couldn't control myself. And then with his death it just killed me.
-Luffy and Usopp's verbal fight leading to their separation in Water7-
I remember watching this play out and all I could think was wow. This was nothing like One Piece had been before. Before this, my thoughts of One piece was a story of adventures and fight with some dark moments, but this just blew me away. The verbal fight was so authentic and just thinking what would happen if Usopp left…I had had no idea how to comprehend it. I never thought that a crew member would ever leave but what if it did... It was a very different, surprising, and scary part in One Piece in my eyes.
-Nami asking for help at Arlong Park-
Before this part, my thoughts of Nami were sort of like Miine Fujiko from Lupin III where she's just some woman who uses seduction to trick men. But this was the first time Nami let her guard down and showed her true self. First she stabbed herself and tried to push Luffy away, but she gave in and showed her lovable vulnerability. And then Luffy put his hat on her and told her he would handle it. It was perfect.
-Nearing the end of the battle in Arlong Park-
Some others have mentioned before that they like the ending of the battle at Arlong Park where Luffy shows from the rubble and yells to Nami. But This moment I'm writing about is including when Luffy is first destroying Arlong Park and Nami's desk flies out of the building leading into her shocked-ness and flashback. This was very deep and I truly felt for Nami and the shit she experienced in the past.
-Robin realizing she was allowed to want to live-
She had for so many episodes/chapters said she wanted to die and told Luffy and the rest of the Strawhats to just leave her alone. But this scene showed her self-realization that she was allowed to live even though others didn't think so. All the flashbacks, all the shots of the Strawhats, and Robin yelling to the others was great. It reminded me of Nami when she, at first, didn't accept Luffy and wanted to be left alone. But both of them accepted Luffy and because of it they are much happier people.
-Usopp/Sogeking and Luffy's Exchange and then Merry showing up-
We just saw Luffy give his all in the fight against Lucci and now he was unable to move. We had never seen Luffy use this much energy, it really showed that he wasn't perfect and needed others. Then Usopp showing his true self and Merry showing up...it was perfect.
-Luffy being saved at Logue Town-
This was the moment that truly made me think of One Piece as better than everything else with much, much promise. Luffy was about to be executed where Gol D. Roger was done in 22 years prior but was saved by an unknown occurrence. Back then, we had no reason to think it had anything to do with Dragon so it was more mysterious. And then Smoker in all his coolness said that Luffy was smiling, just like Roger was when he was executed. He excepted his fate and was ready for it. I knew Luffy was special from that moment on.
-Death of Going Merry-
This moment was important because it was the death of an orignal crew member basically. We saw flashbacks of Merry doing some stuff and everyone was crying when it was being burnt. Just seeing everything Merry went through from Usopp's hometown to Skypiea to its rebirth at Water 7, it was very moving.
-Robin and Ao Kiji exchange in Post Water 7 arc-
I don't know if others have mentioned this moment before but it was pretty big for me. Ao Kiji and Robin having a talk on opposite sides of the wall about Robin finding her home. It made me think back to the time Robin just showed up on the Going Merry after Alabasta and became a crew member so easily. Back then, I did not understand why that happened but at after Enies Lobby I could never think of the Strawhat crew without her. After all the talk of not trusting Robin because of her past, Luffy never judged her and accepted her.
-Zoro taking Luffy's pain-
This moment was more important to me because of what it said about Luffy. Luffy took in so much pain that no one else could have imagined. Luffy never appeared to have taken in so much pain but once Zoro experienced what Luffy experienced it was very evident. Also, this proved how much respect Luffy has from Zoro. To be able to take on that much pain for his captain just shows that Zoro believes in Luffy and is truly in this journey to help Luffy achieve his ultimate goal. I really hope the other crew members think of Luffy just the same if not moreso as a hero to them.
-----------Honorable Mention-----------
-Luffy showing up to kill Eneru and Save Nami-
I put this moment down just because I loved the scene. Luffy was racing to Eneru and Nami appeared to be at the end of her rope. Eneru was a God and no one could have though of beating him but Luffy did not care. It really felt like a David vs Goliath to me and I was rooting for Luffy the whole time up to the powerful end where he rang the bell. This was also the point in which we saw 'the' Enel face of him in shock. But despite all that, the main reason I picked this moment was because of Nami. She had no shirt on, just a bikini top, little ponytails, and looked great. I'd also like to say again that Skypiea was awesome. I would compare it to the Enies Lobby arc but with different goals and more adventure.
Sorry about putting down 10 but I just had to keep going ;o And I will rank my picks later, I need to think about it first.
