Arlong Park is my favorite. Whenever I go back and re-read I always go for Arlong. Its not terribly long, shows every aspect on Nami, and Sanji just wrecks Kurbobi.
Favorite Arc/Saga

oy oy oy, you know, just now, you said you hate it when people seperate eines lobby and water 7, but you just did that. by making cp9 an arc…??
What is a better term for the arc as a whole then? W7 Arc doesn't work as it implies just W7. EL Arc does the same. CP9 Arc on the other hand can and should include both arcs. Why? Because the CP9 was introduced (undercover), built up (w/ Robin and such), and revealed in W7 ~~ defeats the crew temporarily and runs off before Aqua Laguna hits. The Sea Train is in between both W7 and EL, and also includes the CP9 the entire time. They are the villains of both W7 and EL. So CP9 Arc fits if you are referring to the entirety of both. Yes?
-
I liked Jaya/Skypiea the most, I guess….
-
Saboady/Shabondy arc, Enies Lobby, Water 7 arc, Post-Enies Lobby, Jaya arc.
-
oy oy oy, you know, just now, you said you hate it when people seperate eines lobby and water 7, but you just did that. by making cp9 an arc. ._.??
Just saying.
Lol ok start thinking slowly now. CP9 arc is what i call the arc that started when the strawhats arrived at Water 7 for the first time and ended when they met Garp and left it together with Franky and Thousand Sunny.
-
1. Saboady Archipleigo
2. CP9 (Water 7 + Enies Lobby + Post-Enies Lobby)
3. Skypiea (including Jaya)
4. Thriller Bark
5. Alabasta -
Enies Lobby/w7 hands down.
I don't get it why much people disliking it when MOST of the Best Scenes of one piece lies within it(Sogeking's firebird star FTW)
-
Do the Mugiwara Theater shorts count as an arc? Because they are some of the funniest scenes in all of One Piece. Love em'.
-
The Arlong Arc is my favorite…it was the first one that really pulled me into One Piece, and I like the fact that it's shorter and smaller in scale than the epic arcs we run into later. And I love Bellemere, Arlong, Hatchi, Chuu, and Kuroobi. And it's getting better now that the current arc and events are adding depth to the Fishmen.
-
For me, Water 7/Ennies Lobby (until the beginning of the fights) comes first. But maybe, I just have read the fights part a bit quicker than I should. Don't like Lucci that much, anyway. ^^'
Following, Alabasta, amazing until the end. The end of it brought tears to my eyes. ^^
And lastly, but not leastly, Arlong arc. Arlong is still, for me, one of the best villains in the series. :)Though I'm really liking the Shabondy Arquipelago arc…let's how it unfolds. ;)
-
Now more than ever is Shabondy My favorite arc.
@ Brennen.exe
I call it water 7 because it began in water 7 and it also ended in water 7.

!_____________________________ Personally, I loved Skypiea part, and it still my favorite. The reasons are simple: for me, Skypiea represent One Piece itself : Adventures and dreams.
Firstly, Jaya arc has a unique atmosphere: Pirates fights, Bellamy, and oh yea.. first apparition of BlackBeard and his crew. We see the determination of Luffy about the dreams: he wants to join the sky, all the pirates laugh at him, he does not do anything when Bellamy fight him. Same for Zoro.We also see how he became good compared to the others pirates, Bellamy considered as a good pirate is totally dominated by Luffy. After a hard fight against croco, it's good to see a such easy victory.
Then SH go on the sky…and adventures beginThe scenario is pretty good… the Shandias, God, the golden city, the bell... arg.. so many good memories. The dials, the white-sea, Gan-Fall, Wipper...
I think that my best moment of this part is when Nami, Robin and Zoro discover that Upper Yard is in fact the other part of Jaya island.... i really was not expecting it.. then it make sense but wow. Also, the Flash-Back which made me cry and still my favorite FB (CALGARA! NORLAND!) All the fights was pretty good (Wipper who almost won Eneru...), maybe not all usefull like at the beginning of Upper yard. Then end of Skypiea is magic: Luffy vs Eneru, his shadow that appears in the sky and the explanation of how they appeared before, the party with the Shandias ect... Well there are too many things that i like in this part and i could write a lot Sadly I noticed that too many people does not like Skypiea, mainly because it don't take really part in the blue sea, it don't affect their bounties, ect… but I can't understant it... Skypia was a lot of good moments
-
hahahahaha
nice poll there m8.
anyways for me its alabasta
its what got me into it
the comedy in it is amazing.
and its got everything. and an amazing story -
CP9 all the way. It was well-written, great character development(espically for Robin and Usopp) and the fights were so epic. It also showed that the story could turn a little dark but still be enjoyable.
And of course, Sogeking. =D.
Baroque Works is a close second.
-
also the first part of skypeia was boring (no offence)
but the second part kicked ass -
In terms of setting, Skypiea and Thriller Bark. What made Skypiea bad was the lack of perps and varied personalities given to the supporting characters and villains. If they were given this, it probably would have been my top favorite.
Water 7 saga was awesome in the manga, but god awful in the anime. I could never bring myself to watch something so boring ever again. The only good episodes were a few, but the one I remember was 304. The pacing in that episode made the fight as exiting was it was in the manga perfectly.
-
If the current arc didnt come out with its awesome gloryness, then I'd have to say Skypiea too. Loved the build up to skypiea, namely the knock-up stream.
Anyway here are some pics from the current arc:
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/496/12/
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/525/08-09/
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/550/06-07/I loved this arc mainly of its frantic and crazy consistency. In the past, when they reached sabaody, I was dissapointed that the author forshadowed impel down and Marinford but would never showed them, but then the amazing incident at sabaody led to the detour to this "holy places" and im glad we were able to see these locations on paper.
-
The current saga is simply the best.
-
Thriller Bark for me. Zoro and Sanji's(attempted) sacrifice. Usopp being the only one to take down an opponent using dials like we always wanted him to. Moria just being such an interesting character and his time with Kuma just really sparked my interest. Brooke just being awesome by design and Zoro forcefuly saying he was going to take the black sword from Ryuma.
Also the entire Straw Hat Team Up was a welcome break from the usual formula of, everyone gets an individual opponent.
-
Current arc for me. Second would be CP9. The emotions played during both of those make me so happy.
-
I wanna' say Baroque Works and I wanna' say CP9, but the current arc is just too epic. (Probably because it's still recent, but one can only wait and see) ;)
-
I'll rate each part and give it a score instead of only my pick just because it's more fun. My favorite is Part III: Skypiea.
First Place - Part III: Skypiea: Best fucking thing in the series. Jaya was short but definitely my favorite bit in One Piece, it was incredible. Monbran Cricket owns all. The Sky Island part was the perfect adventure story, with the best landscapes yet, and the Norland flashback was godly. Also if you think it's not relevant to the story you're fucking blind; besides the blatant poneglyph, Shandia will be a huge factor during the void century flashback we'll get in some ten years or something, it's obvious as hell.
Second Place - Part VI: War and Rescue: Ignoring the terrible Amazon Lily arc, the series has been absurdly good lately. Nothing much to say.
Third Place - Part II: Baroque Works: Best defeated villain so far, surprisingly good plot, best arc finale yet, Elbaf giants, DOCTOR MOTHERFUCKING HIRULUK. Good stuff.
Fourth Place - Part V: Thriller Bark: An arc with its ups and downs. Moria was amazing, Zoro's Ryuuma fight was very good, the Kuma stuff was pretty damn great, and the landscape was one of my favorites yet. However, Absalom and Perona sucked balls, and Sanji and Nami were treated horribly. Very fun arc though, loved it.
Fifth Place - Part I: East Blue: Had ups and downs too. The series started great, but it quickly went into the mediocre Buggy arc. Kuro was alright, nothing special. Baratie had a mediocre villain, but otherwise it was pretty good what with Mihawk's duel and Sanji's farewell scene and stuff. Arlong was GREAT we all know that, but my favorite part here was Loguetown.
Last Place - Part IV: CP9: My least favorite arc. Davy Back Fight was sort of entertaining, but it was pretty mediocre to be honest. Water 7 was all kinds of awesome, no complaints there. Enies Lobby however, SUCKED ASS. Terribly paced action fest with the worst villains in the series and only the Robin Flashback and Merry stuff to salvage it. I really hate this part of the story.

@People:
Personally, I loved Skypiea part, and it still my favorite.
Same for Zoro.I agree with this.
The whole Jaya arc alone was just amazing. It was short but it had a big impact on how i see Luffy and Zoro now. I always liked them but after the Bellamy incident they became my favorite characters instantly. We also got a glimpse of Blackbeard and his amazing 'a mans dream will never end' speech which is probably one of my favorite quotes out of the whole manga. I also loved the adventurous vibe I got from Skypiea. Although it wasn't my favorite arc, i think Jaya pretty much made up for it.
-
for me, my favorite part of "One Piece" is "One"
Anyway
I voted II because up untill now I really loved Crocodile as a villain the most and it was the first real long arc and even against a shichibukai and it contained smoker, they met with Robin AND Chopper, I loved the eastern theme, we met Ace. Ace and smoker even fought and I loved the story. Luffy losing harshly for the first time, Sanji's mastermind, Zoro's misdirection and him slaughtering 2000 pirate hunters of Baroque works and a lot of Devil fruits for the first time. We also first me Bon Kurei. We learned a lot about Devil fruits and the world and ancient weapons and. . . to much to put into text. For me it was just to awesome although I did find every numberagent of Baroque works utterly weak up untill mr 2. also Nami's first swing with the clima tact was just awesomeI actually like the current arc the most BUT since it has not ended yet I am going to refrain from calling it the best just yet
and, with the risk of being flamed I am going to say that I hated Skypiea, not all of it but a lot anyway. It felt like one giant filler to me and although I do not dislike filler I don't like it to be too long. -
Well, I'd have to say the CP9 saga. It had a number of things I liked, setting, plenty of action, conflict, some good, serious one-on-one and group Straw Hat interaction (something that I think the series could use some more of), much of the world-building, both small and large scale, but more than anything else, how different it felt. I mean, when we all first started this series, did any of us imagine that one day the Straw Hats would be in a Venice-like city with steam engines, government conspiracies, and kung-fu MIB? The only thing I absolutely didn't like was the slight degradation of some of the character models during Enies Lobby. I can't wait until I can finally get my hands on these volumes come March.
And since we're posting spreads and stuff that we liked, here're some of mine:
!
-
If we're talking generally then Baroque Works
If we're talking setting then Skypiea
If we're talking mood and atmosphere then Thriller Bark
If we're talking excitement then War and Rescue
If we're talking charm then East Blue
If we're talking battle's then… I want to say CP9 just to give everything some credit but I honestly think the Baroque Works fights, some of the Thriller Bark ones and the current stuff is better.
ummmmm, If we're talking sadness then CP9.... I guess
-
CP9 part definitely. It had the two best arcs of the series, Water 7 and Enies Lobby. Water 7 was a perfect roller coaster of emotion and Enies Lobby complemented it as as a perfect roller coaster of heart pounding action and excitement.
Of course I'm probably replacing them with the War and Rescue saga after it's done but it'll always have a special place in my heart
-
All unbelievably epic in their own way. Has to be the current arc though. This is what has been built up for so long now. It includes the best characters and the most drama so far.
I'm a big fan of Jaya and Skypiea too. I didn't think Enies Lobby was as good as eveyone says.
-
Why you all be hatin' CP9? I is be lovin' it.
Sure, the davy back fight was awful,, but we saw Aokiji and the W7 arc was exciting, the build up with the disappearance of robin and the shipbuilders.
Enies lobby was all about good battles although the bits in between are boring… I loved the flashbacks and of course, it has my fave scene of all, this.
-
Enies Lobby had some of the worst fights in the series. Franky's, Chopper's, and Luffy's (Because of Gear Third mainly) were cool but fuck them otherwise. Zoro's and Sanji's were not only formulaic but also pretty much the same thing over again. Nami's was absolutely goddamn terrible, fuck fanservice.
But man was Water 7 amazing, almost makes me want to push CP9 up a place.
-
i voted for east blue because it had no votes :P but i have to agree with the original poster. skypiea was great and does not get the love it deserves.
-
I think Skypeia was the worst…the main Villain had no real motive and there were episodes with tones of useless fights....the finale and the flashback were good though.
Thriller Bark also lacked in the beginning but it became better later.
East Blue, Baroque Works and CP9 were epic....but Impel Down- Marine HQ are even more epic.
-
It's a very hard decision, but I gotta go with Skypeia. Jaya was very tense and dark (for One Piece) and had a very pirate feel to it. Skypeia itself just felt like Oda was putting his imagination into overdrive. Skypeia was an amazing setting, and Eneru was an awesome enemy. The Noland flashback was incredible as well. Just teh most impressive arc.
CP9 is a close second, simply because it had so much Strawhat interaction. The SH really need to speak to eachother more like they did in this arc; plus Franky was introduced. It was also a big leap forward for the Strawhats on their adventure.
The War and Rescue arc is one of my favorites simply because of the Shabody Park section, it has incredible characters, specifically the Supernovas, Rayleigh, and Camie, and the pacing was spot-on; plus, an emotional conclusion that I didn't see coming.
-

About vilains in Skypiea yea i agree a little, but…the worst part? For me a one piece Fan saying that is like a person who works in a chocolate shop and does not like chocolate
-
Reason I didn't like Enies Lobby as much was because it was too emotional. That's not my scene. All this crying and sad flashbacks. I think it was an important part of OP, but that theme just doesn't affect me as much. Plus some of the fights weren't too good, and it was a bit linear for my liking (not too many twists except the unexpected gears and Merry). Water 7 was good, until Luffy vs Usopp, which made me cringe quite a bit.
Now Jaya was awesome. We finally saw Whitebeard and Blackbeard. Bellamy got his face fucked up after chatting shit to Luffy and Zoro. Had more of a realistic pirate theme to it. Skypiea was also great. Enel was a cool villian. The survival battle on sky island was epic. The backstory was clever and everything tied together so well at the end.
-
Definately Baroque Works Saga. It just has the best villains ever in One Piece, the funniest, and yet the most intimidating ones. Great atmosphere too, with the desert and what not, and also a real serious undertone, with the rebellion going on.
-
Why is Thriller Bark considered its own Saga? It ties in with Sabaody as part of the Fishman Island Saga, which is on hold for obvious reasons.
-

That's equally arbitrary lol.

i know it should be on "whitebeard saga" or war and rescue or watever u call it

Lol, I actually went to reread those fights to see what the hell you were talking about.
Still couldn't figure it out but I read some enjoyable chapters so nothing was lost.

Guess Baroque Works to the War should all be part of some Grand Line sage then.
-

Thats a good question, i didnt put Thriller Bark because its too much different that the other arc: The objective of the crew when they come to TB is to join Fishmen island.
When they come to Shabaody the real thing begin, the SH disappear.
There are 2 main objective in the actuel saga: To find the crew and to rescue Ace. In TB it's too different, there is no real objective, just sail Grand Line and join the Fishmen island. TB can be see as a mini saga, but we will see what Oda will do, or he already put TB in the actual saga? -
CP9.
Gear two, AND Third.
It was so awesome how each SH had their own individual fight.
Sogeking!
and tons of other awesome stuff.
-
@Thousand:

Which ones? Zoro's and Sanji's went basically like "slash, kick, struggle, DETERMINATOR ASSPULLED POWERUP, landslide win". Don't know what you were looking at if you didn't see the awful fanservice during Nami vs Kalifa, really.
-
I find it very interesting that so many people seem to hate the CP9 saga, yet it has most of the votes. I guess its a hate it or love it thing.
-

Let's start with Nami first. The fan-service was only in the beginning and after that it was pure strategy and deception which was awesome.
Now on to Zoro and Sanji, lol. All their fights contain slashing and kicking etc. You're stating nothing by listing a bunch of generic moves and saying that's all they had. What matters is the strategies they employed which I don't know why you can't see because they were so blatant.
What about the way Sanji and Jyabura tested each other initially, the trickery employed by Jyabura and how Sanji took advantage of it, the way Sanji went around Jyabura's tekkai defenses, the way Jyabura intentionally unbalanced Sanji with slashing attacks to be able to get in a good solid attack and wrap it up with a finisher, the feeling that Sanji was really close to death yet pulling out a power up without feeling totally pulled out the ass at the last minute and not to mention the best part with the taking one hit to deliver the final blow.
As for Zoro, lol at calling that fight formulaic with all the crazy antics and how Kaku was taking full advantage of the versitility of his body with Zoro using some new interesting moves and the fight being a compilation of crazy and awesome badass. Yeah I could be as detailed as I was with Sanji's but the whole thing was so twisted and crazy. Let me just say this, square boxes are in no way formulaic.
Sorry bro but I loved all the Enies Lobby fights but I suppose this is an issue we have to agree to disagree on cause I doubt I'll be able to change your mind.
-
I find it very interesting that so many people seem to hate the CP9 saga, yet it has most of the votes. I guess its a hate it or love it thing.
Lol, after saying that I tried to view who voted for what in the polls but it wouldn't work. Guess that feature was tournament only. Well it's not that good an indicator as Water 7 counts part of CP9 but I do recall a similar poll like this where Enies Lobby was tied with another arc (maybe Skypiea or Water 7).
-
I thought Impel Down, Amazon Lily, and Sabaody Archipelago arcs a lot…but so far not Marinford. I mean Marinford and Drum are the only two arcs I don't particularly care for.
CP9 was the best saga in my opinion. I loved Water Seven and Enies Lobby...really the best part of One Piece so far! The only thing I still don't get / think is a huge plot hole is how Franky could make himself into a cyborg without assistance. How do you opperate on yourself, remove vital organs, and replace them with robotic parts without dying? He'd also have had to opperate on his own brain to be able to control those robotic parts through thoughts alone...highly advanced prosthetics like those would require intricate knowledge of neuroscience, electrical, biomedical, and mechanical engineering, chemistry, medicine, anesthetics (if he's opperating on himself), anatomy, and physiology....Franky would have to be an unparalleled genius to accomplish such a task.
-
For me it's between Arabasta, East Blue & This part right now, but Arabasta wins it by a few inches.
