Just when you thought your childhood couldn't be raped by Hollywood even further, this comes into creation.
Bearenstain Bears, the movie
-
-
My…...my childhood. It's......it's bleeding out of my eyes.
-
My childhood…. it just did a suicide dive out of the window.
What the hell, Hollywood?
-
this is fucking retarded.
I have no way to look at this objectively… we're just doomed

Waiting for My Little Ponies: The Movie to come along next.
-

-
Oh God! How many times must Hollywood damage the nostaglia of yesteryear?!
-
jeepers hollywood. come up with some new crap. quit playin with the good stuff. your just ruining it.
-
Eh, never liked the Smurfs that much anyway. But Bearenstein Bears….....
-
They make two cartoon series out of the Berenstain Bears everyone's quiet, they decide to make a movie out of The Berenstein Bears all hell breaks loose.

Most of the people bitching in this thread probably only know it from the cartoon.

Maybe you missed the part where it says there will be LIVE ACTION + CG and that it's a DAMN COMEDY WTF
I call fail on this. It'll probably be like those bears on the Cleveland Show.
-

Nope. I've always known the Bearenstein Bears as books first and foremost. I didn't even watch that much of the show, but I didn't like it that much from what I can remember.
-
I didn't even know there was a cartoon. I only remember them from the classic book series.
-
There was a cartoon? I grew up on the books.
That said, I haven't looked at the books in at least 20 years, so I'm not the target audience and… I'm really not at all affected by this. It's a what, 50 year old property? I'm surprised its taken this long, given the continual mind-numbing Suess adaptations.
I still kinda want to see Where the Wild Things are, though, I've heard good things about it.

I loved the book as a kid and the movie was good but also very sad. My heart felt so heavy leaving the theater.

Wow…
....guess we better settle down and quit bawwing :getlost:
Sigh... It's not like most of us are really hardcore Berenstein Bears fans to actually care that much about all this.
It's a 20 year old children's series being bastardized by Hollywood. Plain and simple.
Calling it out for what it is seems appropriate to me.
.....all doomed...
-
I'm gonna quote the Scout from Team Fortress 2 on this matter:
ahem
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
-
Wikipedia says the books have been coming out since the 60's. ANd that somewhere along the way Mama bear got pregnant again and that theres a third kid now.
Oh, the soap opera-esque drama I've been missing all these years.
The only one I clearly remember is where they learn about eating, because there was a shot of an x-ray like internal organs diagram, and I drew bites of food going down.
-
Sigh.. this is so bad, my nephew is old enough to want to watch this now, he loves the series.
Obligatory:
!
-
i watched the cartoon when I was a kid, and liked it. I thought it stayed true to the books.
-
I told my class about this… they cried out in horror...
-
Oh geez. I was pleasantly surprised that Alvin and the Chipmunks turned out so good, but this… THIS?! Even I think this is gonna be a train-wreck.
-
I will not be satisfied until Michael Bay's "Clifford the Big Red Dog" is released.
-
Such is the state of cinema. If it's not a sequel, it's an adaptation, and if it's not a sequel of an adaptation, or a sequel adaptation, it's released by Fox Searchlight and no one knows about it.
-
I never watch the cartoon verison, but I had read the books as a kid and like them. This is just sad for Hollywood doing this now.
-
Rule 34 - sexual clause applied to movies?
-
siiiiiiiggggh And my childhood receives another blow to the gut . . . . .
Still, I suppose I can ignore it. I ignored this, after all:

I read the books when I was a kid. Live action? How in God's name is that supposed to work? Why not just computer animation?
-
Mother!
Father!
Sister!
Brother!
We appreciate each other!Try as hard as I may, I've never been able to purge that from my mind.

That was my favorite Berenstain Bears book.
