Anyone see this movie yet? Just saw it tonight and I have to say that it was scary as hell. Everyone in my theatre was jumping every time something happened and while I didn't jump, I was genuinely scared and had shivers going down my spine. It's not a gorefest like Saw and Hostel, it is a genuinely terrifying movie.

Dang, I've been hearing a lot about this movie. At first I thought it was just be another cheesy, dime-a-dozen horror flicks, but apparently it's supposed to be like the next Blair Witch. So what do you think Kairouseki? How does it stack up to Blair Witch?
-
I'd say it's scarier than Blair Witch. While I think that The Blair Witch Project was a lot more creepy this more is more outright scary. The ending of PA is changed for the theatrical version in case you want to know after you see it.

What do you mean? Changed for the theatrical version as opposed to what?
EDIT: Wait, did you see an advanced screening?
-
I think I heard that there were 3 different endings to this movie. The version playing in theatres has a different ending than was originally planned.

Do they plan to allow access to this original ending(s)? Perhaps as an extra feature on DVD?
-
Not sure, would be cool though. They most likely changed the ending because it wasn't "spectacular" enough for theatres. I would like to see them though.
-
Hmm, well at any rate, if it's as scary as you say it is I'm definitely going to have to wait for the DVD since I already have practically zero tolerance for scary movies.
-
Holy crap, look what I just found .

O3O Scary movie that is actually scary? Count me in!! I wonder who would go with me to watch it though :< People tend to avoid me when I want to go watch a scary movie ;-;
:ninja: Wonder why~ Ufufufufufufufuuu~
-
I'm trying to get my friends to go, but none of them will. Maybe it's because I get a thrill out of scary situations. That's normal right?
-
Yes. It's pretty normal~ :ninja: Don't you enjoy it when you suddenly grab your friend's hand at a scene that's not scary and make her scream out startled~?
-
I prefer her to grab onto me . I've never really gone to a movie with a girl though :cwy: .
-
I have only gone to movies with girls! Ha! 8D
..Oh wait…

Shame: It always strikes at the last moment.

.______. The only males I ever took to the movies were two cousins of mine. And it was always to cartoons and Hairy Potty…
The real shame is that I didn't have the chance to make a man scream like a girl...yet. :ninja: -

One time I went to a "scary" movie (Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake) with a girl I was planning to ask out. She was so scared at one scene that she grabbed my arm and dug her nails in so deep that I started to bleed. It hurt like hell and I have never gone to see a scary movie with a girl since (or if I did I made sure there was another fool between us).
Anyway, on topic. This movie looks incredible and all the hype just makes me want to see it more. I was at first skeptical because I remembered all the hype surrounding the Blair Witch Project and I was disappointed when I saw the movie for myself. I thought it was good and creepy, but not nearly as scary as the critics made it out to be. If a horror movie dubbed, "The scariest movie ever made," doesn't make me want to sleep with the lights on after its over-I consider it a failure.
However, four of my friends (2 guys, 2 girls) went to see it last night. When they came back, the two girls barely talked for the rest of the night and the guys said it was decently scary and that I should go see it.
-
Wow, is this movie really all that? I'm a fan of the horror genre (both graphical and psychological), so chances are I'll like this anyway, even if it's not that scary. But you guys make it sound like some masterpiece. So is it worth searching for it on some torrent tracker, because I'm not willing to spend money or is it simply one of those movies that seems to be good on the trailer, yet fails miserably in reality?

It's OVER N- .. nah, it's not worth the shame.

I think it was really good, one of the scariest movies I've see lately, the other being Rec. I'm not sure how scary it'll be watching it on your computer but go ahead if you want.
-
That's when you kick them in the crotch.
Aww, but that's not as fu- Fine. it is just as fun~ :ninja:
-
Movie wasn't that scary for me, and I usually can't stand scary movies. I don't get what all the hype is from. Only part that I thought was really good was the ending, well before the last few seconds of it.
-
Yeah, there's this little split for some reason. Some people, like me, thought that the movie was extremely good and really scary. Then there are others, like Sesshy, who didn't find the movie scary at all. Really weird.
Only part that I thought was really good was the ending, well before the last few seconds of it.
Well that was a Hollywood-esque ending suggested by Stephen Spielberg.
-
I'unno, maybe because I was in good humor near the start of the movie because of this one go going 'OH SHIT' at things in the beginning.
Edit- [hide]It did plant the paranoid idea though of someone just standing there watching me when I sleep though, that was one of the scarier parts of the movie for me.[/hide]

Just watched the movie last night and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I'm a huge horror fan and pride myself and not being scared easily and I can honestly say that there is one scene in the whole movie that scared me. That being said, the rest of the movie isn't 'not scary' or bad by any means-but for even one scene in a movie to creep me out makes it good in my opinion.
The people who don't like the movie said they thought the pace was slow and it was boring-but I thought the pace, and the editing as well, was great:
! It starts off slow because of exposition/character development and all that. Then, the, "paranormal activity," begins with mostly boring stuff like doors getting slammed, footsteps, etc. Each day the activity builds, but still it is nothing impressive or truly horrific. Each time there was a night scene, the audience wanted something bigger and better to happen to up the ante, but the movie consistently withdrew anything of the sort (except for the night with the picture maybe-but I didn't think that was all that scary, even though the audience I was with did). Then, just when you are starting to get bored of doors slamming and people getting out of bed to stare at someone for hours (and you feel like the movie is just getting dumb), Katie gets dragged out of the room by her feet, helpless and screaming. In my opinion-THAT was the most terrifying scene and a well placed one at that. It's so perfect, because you see her feet move and you just think, "Oh, great, she's just going to get out of bed and stare at Mica again," and then something completely unexpected happens; and since you have let your guard down from all the other repetitive scenes beforehand it is that much scarier.
As for the ending, I thought it was okay, but the original ending (or what I have read about it on-line) seems so much better than the cheap Hollywood one they came up with. The only problem with this movie is that, like the Blair Witch Project and The Others, it has no rewatch value. Once you know everything that is going to happen, the movie is no fun. I want to see the original ending, but I won't go out and buy the DVD for it because of that reason.

It's not like it needs the extra financial help of the DVDs anyway seeing as it's already made over 200 times it's budget. And just a heads up I guess the $9,001 budget was fake. The real budget is around $11,000.
