be nice if they just did the last 4 episodes to wrap up the series after it ended on a cliffhanger 9 years ago.
As apposed to an ahem reboot of the property.
New modern visuals are nice, but they'll have to do a LOT to win me over. Particularly since right off, the old writers and guys in the charge of the property are gone (they left Mainframe years ago) the incoming game message voice is different, (jarring first impression) and obviously, Tony Jay died so, no proper Megabyte… not to mention the plot growth arc of little Enzo to badass Matrix was so amazing and to scratch that and... so, so many things. etc. etc.
Trying to reserve judgement until there is more to see, but, its difficult to not be a whiny, extremely skeptical fanboy when the previous series was so well done. They'll need a much, much better teaser than that.
With how I heard the fans got screwed over with this, I'm glad I never watched ReBoot beyond a few random times back during Toonami.
Not having the original voice just seems… wrong.

If you stopped at the end of season three, you were left with the treat of a fantastic series with a great conclusion, one of the absolute divine and amazing storytelling greats of the 90's, particularly season 3 which was just incredible.
It was only if you watched season 4, which only aired once, that you were screwed with indefinate cliffhanger and dangling plot threads. They'd planned on doing 3 movies, the equivilent of 12 episodes… but they only got the go ahead budget to do 2 movies, the equivilent of 8 episodes. Naturally, this was problematic, since they didn't rejigger the scripts or the pacing, they just... assumed they would get the funding later for the end.
Never watched Reboot?

This is all you need to see.
Episode IV was a major disappointment, though I liked the Megabyte twist but it didn't seem appropriate after the "epic end" of the third season. Heck, Reboot ended on such a high note when season IV was announced I was royally pissed off. About as PO'd as I was when I heard Big O's second season had considerably input by William's Street (wtf?).
The comics have been half-arsed, so I'm pretty ambivalent about this.

has the entire series.
Season one is mostly random standalone episodes, season 2 it hooks together into a plot. Season 3 is when they broke free of ABC and became truly epic. Also, season 1 is really old cgi, predating Toy Story, and full of geek computer jokes, so try not to be too judgemental about it, it gets awesomer as it goes, I swear. (And the first sason IS pretty fun in its own right anyway.)
…its always akward when you have to put that disclaimer on a series. "Yeah, the first season is just goofy fun, but it gets better later!"

….The comics?
Oh i remember this, i didn't follow it but i saw a couple of random episodes. Maybe i'll watch it all from the beginning.
The most frustrating part about the finale of Reboot was not only the fact that we were left with a terrible cliffhanger, it's the fact that the original writers and producers know how the show ends but are not allowed to disclose it for legal reasons.
I'm sorry, but what purpose is this legalese supposed to achieve now? The show is done, it's not coming back and the fanbase is owed a conclusion.
God, that Season 3 Opera Summary never gets old. <33
I'm trying very hard not to get too excited here, because…well, one bitten, twice shy. Season 4 was hit-and-miss with me, and I really would have preferred episodic format rather than the two 'movies'....
I liked the Daemon Rising movie/plotline overall, and actually felt they could've done a full season on trying to slow her infection across the net, while tracking her down and dealing with Infected Guardians (like Turbo).
My Two Bobs was, eeehhhh…I guess I'll be nice and say 'disappointing'. Or maybe 'frustrating' is more correct, because ,looking back, I think the story could've REALLY benefitted from the episode format. I can imagine Bob and Dot preparing for their wedding (SLOWLY, just with peaks at stuff over episodes.) But Bob's been feeling off lately, even blacking out. Meanwhile, Mainframe's binomes and sprites are becoming infected by some mysterious source...
The online comic was okay, but not really what I was looking for as a fan of the show...
SO, based on a 15-second teaser, all I can say is that the animation looks lovely. Regarding characters, plotline (possible Re-Reboot? As a 15-year old show, maybe), and voices, I'm going to try and stay neutral until I have something true to latch onto. As a longtime fan, the fact that I have to do this pains me...

Daemon Rising shoulda been the entire season, it really was rushed. The Hex/Daemon fight alone shoulda been most of an episode. She was a SUPER virus, and Megabyte had been soundly and permanently defeated, there was no need at all to break it up just to have him return randomly, for revenge sake.
And My 2 Bobs really was… off.
Dot choosing Copibob over Glitchbob, based solely on his looks and voice was... very very weak character choice. She was hanging around with him for days/weeks, and... nothing let onto the fact that he was a fake imposter? Hell, I knew as soon as he got frustrated in a game and suggested cheating that he was the wrong one... It was just such a forced and artificial character arc.
I'm also, to this day, slightly saddened that considering the timing of when that season came out, that they never did any "matrix bullet-time fu". Especially considering they had a guy named, well, Matrix.
Well matrix did have one slow motion jump kick in the dbz/pokemon spoof, but it got lampshaded.
But yeah while it was nice to have a bit of goofy fun after all that time, the best part of my two bobs was the brady bunch opener.
This show was good till end of season 3 (Matrix and AndrAIa), but them they went and made Daemon Rising that was actually not bad and My Two Bobs that sucked
Still I hope they remake it using fancy modern day CGI but following the story of the series till Daemon Rising and forget about My Two Bobs and do something new
@Capt:

That was more anime stock footage speedline background spoof, than a Matrix bullet time. Jump kick in the air, camera pans 360 around the character, then the kick finishes. Or, shooting bullets that ripple through the air.
Granted, that became overdone and passe very quickly once South Park/Shrek/everything had done it, but at the time it still would have been pretty current.
Man, this makes me want to go back and watch the old ReBoot episodes again  . If the trailer, not teaser, looks good enough I might decide to see this.
