lol. My thoughts exactly. Although I don't have the ads anymore because of AdBlock. =/
How do you get that to work? Because i have an adblocker but it's not doing anything.

Which IMO, those HD lovers in America and Canada need to get over it. They have no excuse at all in any shape or form to not be watching the Simulcast.
They're not paying for it and the Simulcast's quality really isn't anywhere near as bad as they make it out to be.
lol. My thoughts exactly. Although I don't have the ads anymore because of AdBlock. =/
Well I love HD as well, but I still watch it. They should realize that they basically use an HD raw as the source, so the picture quality is still quite sharp. What I do is download the HD raws after I watch the subbed Simulcast. And of course those raws will be tossed when the official DVDs come out in a few years.
That's my point there - it's STILL infringing on Funi's business. These episodes are going to be released on DVD in 4 years or so, watching them illegally now is wrong and bad and illegal and unethical and evil no matter who wrote the subtitles.
I live in the U.S to, so I'm able to watch the FUNi simulcasts and I proudly do. But what right do you and everyone else have to call out the people being region blocked for stealing when 99% of the people here watched the fansubs when it was their only option? I think it's pretty fucking retarded to call out people for still watching the fansubs when they still can't watch it any other way. I don't understand why people all over the world are supposed to stop watching One Piece just because North America can now watch it legally. Really, as long as you intend to purchase the DVDs when they are made available to you, I don't see the problem.

I don't get it. The FUNi stream quality isn't bad at all. It really looks like it's been downloaded to your hard drive. The only "problem" with the quality is that it's not HD. And that's not really a quality problem, that's just it not being HD… Never thought standard def was "poor quality". :wassat:

…
Did you even read my post at all? Go back and do that.
My POINT was that people outside the US and Canada SHOULD watch the ripped simulcast, because there's no reason for someone to produce a fansub when the series is readily available subbed. Just rip that. It's illegal and copyright-infringing no matter how you watch the series, so there's no point in promoting the further creation of fansubs because "they don't infringe on copyright that much".
Just had myself a huge Simulcast marathon. Starting with 402 to 416. Amazing stuff.
Looking at Youtube clips of the same episodes online, the fansubs sound incredibly odd to me now with their direct Unchanged-Japanese translations.
How do you get that to work? Because i have an adblocker but it's not doing anything.
Well I don't know… I'm not too well versed on that type of stuff. But I just downloaded it a few weeks ago or so. That might have something to do with it, maybe?
Never thought standard def was "poor quality". :wassat:
I know, right? I see people calling the quality of the streams "shitty", and I think "Huh?". I've even seen people argue that the quality is so bad that they can't see which characters are which…
Sounds to me like that's a problem with said person's eyes and not the quality of the streaming. I've seen "shitty" quality. I streamed most of One Piece through YouTube, and this is not "shitty" quality. It's close to perfect. Especially considering we're getting it for free.
Even so-called "shitty" YouTube quality is bearable. (although I'm glad that the streaming quality for the Simulcast is so much better.)
Maybe it's because I didn't ever download a single episode of One Piece, but I just can't understand the issue with the quality of the streaming here. You can have your super high definition when it comes out on DVD. For now you should enjoy streaming it… Because we're all watching it for the actual content of the anime, right...?

Oh give me a break. As you said, they must be going blind or something. Streaming has gotten MUCH better these days, so they should stop bitching and just give FUNi the support they deserve.
Of course people outside the US and Canada should be finding ways to get around Funi's region blocking. They don't have a legitimate method, so they need an illegitimate one.
What, you think just because WE have access to One Piece now that the rational behind fansubbing the show for the last several years suddenly went away? Am I wrong in assuming that every person in this thread got into One Piece through fansubs? That every person watching the simulcast was just weeks ago downloading fansubs distributed on this very site?
Funi cannot legally distribute One Piece outside of North America. It doesn't matter what you think the internet should be used for, they CANNOT DO IT and anybody who says they should is a moron who doesn't know what they are talking about.
That said, I'm certainly not going to blame anybody for continuing to do what we all have been doing for years.
We are pirates. We've always been pirates. But if there's ANY anime community that should be able to tell the difference between legal right and moral right, it's the One Piece community.

Maybe YOU'VE been doing it for years, but I haven't. I've tried to stay legit when it comes to One Piece. And I actually got into One Piece through the manga. You can't go pointing fingers callin' people pirates unless you know for sure whether or not they've been downloading fansubs.
With that said, I agree with you that if people are going to do it, then let them do it and deal with their own problems.
I got into One Piece via Shônen JUMP! :p

This. Uh, yeah… I completely agree. That's about it,,you said everything. The rest of the world shouldn't stop watching One Piece just because North America got the legal right to. It doesn't make sense. So long as you buy the DVDs when they're made available, it's really okay if you watch the fansubs. It's still the same. People who live in the U.S should support the simulcast but not everyone can it seems..and they shouldn't be faulted for still relying on the fan subs like the U.S did just months ago.
And as I've been saying, nor should they be faulted for pirating the simulcast, since that's no more illegal than fansubbing, and is a hell of a lot more practical for everyone.
(for the record, though, I did get into One Piece through the Danish release of the manga (which far predated the American one… it started in 2003, and is just finishing off Enies Lobby), and haven't been watching the anime fansubbed for ages, streaming TV Tokyo instead, but that's rather beside the point)
It far predated it in America in 2003?
That's funny because I have a few copies of Shonen Jump from 2003 and One Piece is in them. I was shocked to recognize that. Plus they seemed unedited and used "Zoro". :o
Unless you were referring to volume releases specifically…
Yeah, apparantly, I thought the English release was was later, since the series hasn't come particularly far. The Danish release predated the English volume releases, at least, and we got monthly volumes compared to the English three-a-year schedule, so we had reached Alabasta at the point you finished the Buggy arc.
Yeah, it seems the US is going significantly slower than the rest of the world, but what else is new ?

Yup, One Piece came to America December 2002 when the first official Shonen Jump came out.
ah, memories …
I still have the free preview they were handing out to inform people about Shounen Jump.
When did they anime come to america courtesy of 4kids?
Autumn '04. .
When did they anime come to america courtesy of 4kids?
How did they even get it? If I was president of Funimation or another dubbing company, I would have fought life and limb to get it away from them. Probably the other bidders in the One Piece license were thinking the same thing; I mean, they have to check out their competitors to determine their chances.
I think it's because of the immense popularity that Pokemon and Yugioh had. Toei saw that and though: "Well if they can do that then our most popular show should be a no-brainer." I reiterate, Toei is retarded.
@Kairouseki:

They should've done research, that would be the smart thing. It would've also been smart if Kahn and 4kids read and watched the Japanese Anime and Manga in detail in order to realize some things can't be written out or changed.
Toei doesn't care what happens to the shows as long as it makes money.
@Kairouseki:

And I'm sure they are loving Funimation for making more money than 4kids will ever make. Both in the sense of One Piece and other Toei anime.
Hey c'mon people, be nice.
Anyway that's exactly what happened. Toei Animation ultimately went with 4Kids because they saw that they released "Pokemon", which to this day is the most successful English release of an anime. They pretty much put their full trust behind them too and let 4Kids do what they thought was best. At the time I don't think Toei Animation really had any research to back up the possibility that 4Kids was not a good fit for the property, I don't put that much blame on them, however that's not to say Toei Animation should've known better. And I'm sure 4Kids did their own thorough research into "One Piece", I think Al Kahn honestly thought it would do well in its highly sanitized state.
Right now "One Piece" may be doing well in FUNimation's hands, but that's still not saying much compared to the 4Kids days. It's no longer on T.V. and we have yet to see much merchandise besides a few trinkets here and there.

You are completly right. I overreacted a little. But there should be more OP merchandise in the U.S. I mean, it`s not like One Piece is unpopular here; quite the contrary. I guess Funi is waiting to gain more support on the DVDs before they take the plunge on other things.
Actually, it is pretty unpopular.
I mean, if I ask the avergage joe about One Piece they're gonna be like…
"WTF is that? You want a one piece? You're a dude, bro..."
But if I mention "DBZ, Pokemon Yu-Gi-Oh.... and hell, even Naruto, alot more people are bound to recognise what i'm talking about...

There could be any number of reasons why we haven't seen more merchandise, we can only ask FUNimation and see what their response is.
Hardly any Anime is on TV. If the reason the show isn't on TV is because FUNi/Toe doesn't want it on AS or SyFy, then that is their problem. The time for 'One Piece being on a kid friendly block' is looooooooong over.
So long as you buy the DVDs when they're made available, it's really okay if you watch the fansubs.
It's still illegal no matter how you put it. It's similar to downloading a movie screener. You're digitally stealing entertainment that was going to be released in a DVD format by the major corporation. They own the rights and every single second of picture and they only gave you rights to watch in the big screen at the theater or wait for them to release it on DVD. Even if you buy the DVD when it came out, you only said "Screw FOX, I'm getting this movie illegally and buying it when it comes out so I seem legitimate".
It's like breaking into GameStop and stealing a video game that wasn't even supposed to be released until the next day, then buying it the next day legitimately, it just doesn't make sense and doesn't take back your deed.
@Yuugi's:

I don't think SyFy or AS even want to air "One Piece".
Merchandise is trinkling in, and Right Stuff is releasing the POP figures (which, granted, Japanese product but I digress). I've heard even Naruto isn't on CN anymore, although CN is . . . meh . . . right now.
Keep in mind the economy isn't doing so well, so now probably isn't a time where anime fans are buying a lot of "other" stuff. DVDs probably take "priority" to anime fans as that's the anime itself, but things like t-shirts and toys are probably not something they're focusing on. If we were in a boom, we might be seeing more toys and what not coming into the marketplace. As it it we have some patches, some pins, a key cap, a messenger bag, and that Chopper hat, plus a couple of wall scrolls and some t-shirts from Hot Topic.
One Piece IS doing well, especially in pre-orders (because most of us who don't live in Iowa have figured out we can get it for cheap and early through RightStuf), it just isn't doing Naruto big. Their two biggest properties are PROBABLY Dragon Ball and Fullmetal Alchemist right now, though I would say One Piece is likely in its Top Ten right now (simulcast and fast DVD releases say hello).
I don't think SyFy or AS even want to air "One Piece".
Entirely possible, but that hasn't stopped fans from maintaining some sense that 'One Piece is a kids show and shouldn't be on such adult-oriented blocks'.
But I digress, I personally don't think television deals factor into the One Piece equation anymore, or or any Anime as it is.
It's still illegal no matter how you put it. It's similar to downloading a movie screener.
Did I say it was any less illegal? No, I just meant that it is morally okay in my humble opinion. You watch the latest episodes from Japan fan subbed because that is the only option available to you to watch it. (let's pretend we don't have the simulcast for the sake of argument) However, when FUNimation releases the official DVDs, you grab em pronto and wa la~ you've bought it and supported the series just fine. That's entirely different from someone watching the fansubs, and then making absolutely no effort to support the franchise later. I mean, who are you to call out someone who supports the show? Granted, they may be a bit impatient, but aren't most of us here? I know very few on here who weren't already caught up to One Piece via the fan subs before the simulcast was launched…

And those that do happen to know about One Piece think you're crazy. (Because all they've seen is the 4Kids version.)
All of my friends think I'm crazy. In fact I have one friend who is really stubborn. He's a huge Naruto and Bleach fan but puts down One Piece all of the time. He has only seen the 4Kids version… =/
I think I maybe finally getting close to convincing him to watch the real One Piece, though! ^_^
Type up a list of all the changes and hand it to him. The sheer fact the page count was in the double digits might help. :p
I'm surprised there are people that have been watching anime for a while that can't tell when something is heavily edited for T.V.

As long as you admit it's illegal, I have no chili with you.

I'm surprised too they should know that Tree isn't really supposed to be in front of Gohan's crotch.
I recently watched one of the early episodes of DB on the Toonami streaming site and when the part where Goku steps out of the tub and that stool is in front of him… It looked so fake yet I didn't think anything of it when I was a kid .

Ah, yeah…The good old days. I remember back when 4K!Ds Yu-Gi-Oh! was the coolest show ever. Now ya can't bother help being annoyed when the smallest thing is changed or edited.
Back to the topic! So, tonight's a new episode? Hope we'll see the other Straw Hats.

Uh, do episode titles count as spoilers?
Well…...why would they? I don't think so. They're visible in the Fansubs/Raw Section.

The episode titles can be pretty spoiling within themselves sometimes.

I see. Dixxy Mouri, you'd better use spoiler tags.

Yeah, and I don't even read the manga myself… But I usually end up somehow seeing the names of the manga chapters on this forum's main page. =/
Anyways, if you want to know whether we'll see the Straw Hats tonight or not, MetaMario:
! We will not. But we will starting with 418.

417 is up and the stream is working with no problem for me.
Been F5'ing it for 10 mins now, still getting an error. =(
