Yeaaa… but in Norway it's kinda late now:) So i'm off to bed! Thanks for the episode and all the time and work you put in it!
415: ''Hancock's Confession - The Sisters' Vile Past''
-

man this epsiode was sad i felt really bad about what happened to the boa sisters i almost began to cry seeing Hancock, Marigold, and Sandersonia crying.
great epsiode though can't wait for the next Ep next sunday.

Kotono Mitsuishi's performance this ep really wowed me. Hancock's confession was powerful enough in the manga, but Kotono's signature touch really brought it home for me. You could really feel the desperation and sadness in it. bows to superior seiyuu
That and I liked the added touch the animators did by showing the Boa sisters as children. Nice to see.

Word, Satsuki. In the first episode Hancock was introduced, I felt her voice was a bit too high pitched and uncontrolled like Misato with not enough elegance. However, the voice actress really settled into her role after an episode or two, very impressive work. She sounds just how I imagined Hancock would sound now.
-
Well, she's like an uber-veteran of the seiyuu world. She was freaking Sailor Moon, for pete's sake.

lol the anime made an even bigger mess than the manga with hancock height: at 8.41 she's almost 2 times taller than luffy, while near the end at 21.55 she's just a little taller than luffy (just some secs before luffy was drawn more or less as tall as nyon over her snake)..i think someone should have oda tell us what's her real height once and for all;-)
ah hancock trembling at the end waiting for luffy's answer was pure win, it really moved me -

-
Well, it's not like Oda never messes up on heights either. Remember Tilestone being nine feet tall and that dwarf Marine in the recent Shichibukai pagespread? Judging from that though, she's supposed to be around Mihawk's height, aka normal.

There was actually nothing wrong with that spread except maybe Doflamingo's size, you were looking at it wrong.

Yeah it was perspective, in fact I don't even think Doflamingo's height was off in that spread, he's like 9 ft tall anyway.
-
No, there's a mistake. The Shichibukai are all right, but that Marine is much too close to them to not be a dwarf. It's a small error, that's all.

I'm gonna try to explain the perspective of it from my memory: When you look at the spread focus on Mihawk, Hancock and the marine (this will help you see the perspective) who are in the foreground, now the reason Hancock and Mihawk are much larger than the marine is that they are much closer to the "camera". If you look at the spread briefly, you'd think that the Shichis are close together in line however Hancock and Mihawk are actually meters away from the taller Shichis and a few feet forward but also aligned with the marine. This distance and slight out of line position of Hancock and Mihawk combined with the absence of shading on them (which indicates when characters are in the foreground) fools the eye. Look at the end of 554 with the Shichi and you'll see way in the distance where Hancock and Mihawk are standing, that marine was in front of Moria but a few feet in front, the camera was a few feet forward and to the left of Hancock and Mihawk (perfectly inline to hide the distance). That's the trick.

Yeah I was actually surprised at how moving and good that was.
But I have to say.. maybe I'm the only one on this view.. but they totally butchered the Boa character in the last few episodes. Animation-wise I mean. She's supposed to be just about the most beautiful and attractive woman in the world, but if she isn't drawn with a deformedly large forehead, she's just plain.. plain. If you swap Marguerite for Boa, it'd probably be more convincing..

yeah I guess so, and in every episode hancock was drawn differently depending on the director; personally I prefer the hancock in the preview of ep 416
!

Like I said, you don't watch the anime for the art which is much, much better in the manga.
-
Boas sisters were drawn really wierd. Sandy's head sometimes needed to be bigger, but I suppose some were experimenting with dynamic angles. Same for Marigold. Hancock is a different story. Tate made some wierd expressions for her and at the same time did some really excellent ones. 412 is still my favorite version though. The rest were just alright though she needed to look a bit more… less youthful in her blank expressions.
I suppose the newly introduced characters are like Moria. Save a few, almost no one nailed his face well.
-
Nice episode, they actually got me emotional ^^
Good use of music and great performance from Hancock's VA. It's the first time she could shine this episode, since most of the time Hancock was as walking ice block.
Luckily, the amount of fanservice was kept to a minimum…Thank goodness.yeah I guess so, and in every episode hancock was drawn differently depending on the director; personally I prefer the hancock in the preview of ep 416

yeah I agree that's the best depiction we got yet. I personally liked how the sisters were drawn in episode 413, especially the eyes and facial expressions (if it weren't for Hancock's big forehead in that one )
but this preview gives me hope for a great animated episode. Marge is looking great in that one aswell. -

Like I said, you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. Making a Marine half the size of a normal human would not be a "small error", nor one that Oda or any decent artist would let pass or make so casually, it would be blatantly obvious. Of course, that's if there was actually a mistake and you weren't stubbornly looking at it wrong.
-
^I have no idea how it wouldn't be a stupid error. It doesn't look like a perspective thing AT ALL. You might be right, though, but in that case Oda was just really bad at showing the perspective, making the whole picture a bit awkward.
Fine episode.

I tried to explain it already, the marines and the Shichis aren't standing as close as they look to one another.
-
Yeah, and it that case Oda made a bad job on showing that. It REALLY doesn't look like it.
-
Damn, this episode was really heartwarming. I fucking love Hanock's VA now. She was iffy before but now she's totally settled into the role and totally sounds awesome!!! And I love all those little love love hints they put in the episode^_^
Also Hancock is now a 1000 times cuter in my eyes. Which also makes her a 1000 times more badass when she's serious.
-
I thought she looked creepy at the end.
-
Blushing in OP always creeps me out. Creepiest one is Camie.
-
Ha, still found the ''We're important, aren't we?'' scene funny. But Hancock's suddenly ten feet tall again. Geez, she's supposed to be around Mihawk's height…
Soo....I did like the direction and the fleshing out of the flashback (though Mariejois's burning looked kind of dumb thanks to the weal art there). Hopefully we'll see more Celestial Dragons in the future in the manga, and maybe see a few who are slightly more respectible than the three we've already seen. While I thought that that was done well, I've unfortunately become so jaded towards this part of the story that I felt absolutely nothing.
New piece of music at the very end. I wonder if they've started dipping into the Movie 10 vault already?
-
Holy ever changing hat-size batman. It's all over the place.
-
Altough I don't feel sad for Hancock because she's a bitch, i must say I loved her face at the end before the credits.
How cute :3
Also, I'm disappointed in Thousand Lion Chan, a Boa Hancock fan, for getting angry at the fact that one of the best female seyuus is voicing her.
What the fuck is wrong with you, man?

What the f…? Are you retarded? I merely said I didn't like her voice initially because it sounded too perky and uncontrolled. Since then, her VA has settled into her role considerably and now Boa sounds perfect. Where did you get the notion I was angry?
