I have this thing where I have to allot so many hours a day to sleep.
General 'Haki' Discussion
-
-
You should get that looked at.
-
That's my ambition.
-
-
I Will. .
-
All of you. REST. NOW.
I wonder if Oda's is implying that there exists a God who has the ambition to create a whole universe.
That kind of implies that people with great ambition are closer to God than the people who give up. It also implies that people with DF's are heretics who challenge God's will, and steal powers from other sources. And the two preceding statements put together means that people with both great ambition and DF's are close enemies of God who in addition to gaining power on their own, steal and rob power from others.
-
-
All of you. REST. NOW.
This is like walking into a party after everyone passed out and yelling at them to quiet down.
I'd respond to the rest of the post, but I don't think that it's in English.
-
-
@igetownd: Your name is fitting, based on that bull you just spouted, I bet you get owned quite a bit.
So does anyone think Usopp's gonna have to channel "haki" into his shots to hurt logia's?
However, I wonder if Usopp would ever get so powerful that people would just quake with fear and foam at the mouth.

….. I think it was in a SBS. some reader was talking about something that related to the bible and Oda said that One Piece is not that deep.

And there goes the thread… Just when it was getting semi intelligent you drop it on it's head.
@Vanessa
That Ice Cube gif is almost as hilarious as what he said. -
we need something good to argue about, someone bring up some good ideas. Jesus keep this thread alive.
@Urouge:Why weren't you here to remind me not to respond to people with certain usernames? This is your fault.
dropped out after you lost, how boring… no stamina.

Ok, I'll go, why didn't shanks just knock out the sea king back on east blue, he wouldn't have lost an arm. So was the stare just killing intent? I'm off to bed, I'd better read some arguing when I get back or else
! HAKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

I don't think that a luffy being pissed off what Wapol did and shouting at him can be related to haki.
-
Remember that time Luffy punched Bacura and all the Amazons were impressed that he did it without haki? That was haki.

I hope you guys realize that those instances can have ties to haki. Haki is an power source that gets it's fuel from the users ambition and drive. Luffy's anger has been used to tap in to haki twice already in the story and those other instaces can just be him spitting out really low intimidation blasts.

Oh you completely dissed the whole SH crew.
Wasn't luffys anger high enough to release his "haki" against Kuma or sentomarou? Hmm?
Baby haki has entered this thread! And he will make all the babies around faint that's how awesome he is :) -
wha'ts that saying pulling for straws? then my post is most likely guilty of that if haki is supposedly ambition then why couldn't there be a somewhat small correlation a 'haki blast' and the instance with wapol and chopper?
has it not been foreshadowed since the first chapter?
and for it to be considered a haki blast does the receiver need to faint? did the seaking in the first chapter faint? no -
-
-
who said that?
Remember when Shanks used Haki to save Luffy? Do you remember how it didn't faint? It just swam away.
You don't need to knock someone out in order to use Haki.

To clarify on your part, the large Haki blast doe not knock out people. It scares the shit out of people. Those who have a strong will are barely affected. Those with a okay-will get scared and back away. Those with really weak will get knocked out. It's kinda like how some people faint when they get really scared or shocked.

I'm not claiming anything (though that explanation isn't bad at all). All I'm saying is that Haki is not just limited to knocking people out.
Let me just bring up a few examples:
Chapter 1:
Shanks scares off a Sea King.
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/1/42/Chapter 511:
Sentoumaru deflects Luffy's attack and is able to hit him as if he didn't have DF powers.
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/511/14/Chapter 511:
Rayleigh deflects Kizaru's light kick and is able to physically hit him.
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/511/18-19/Chapter 512:
Rayleigh can physically cut Kizaru.
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/512/08/Chapter 519:
Marigold can deflect Luffy's attack and hit him as if he wasn't rubber.
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/519/08/Chapter 519:
Sandersonia is able to read Luffy's moves in order to avoid them.
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/519/12/So yes, in conclusion, I do believe Haki can be used in different ways other than knocking people out.

So true so true.
We already know about King Haki and we will probably see other forms. Would be sad if Luffy and maybe Zoro/Sanji would get the same powers

That was pretty much confirmed as haki then supported by the fact that Shanks used it again on WB's ship. RPGJay is missing this example, it was before Luffy even knocked out Motobaro.
EDIT: Never mind he's using examples that are non K.O ones. -

Whoops.
Either way though, my intentions were to show that Haki could be used in ways other than making everyone faint.
EDIT:
@HaxeyeMihawk:EDIT: Never mind he's using examples that are non K.O ones.
It's all right, I probably should've mentioned the page that proved Shanks used Haki.

EDIT: Never mind he's using examples that are non K.O ones. The men on WB ship fainted, the seaking did not? The Bison fainted the seaking did not, the kuja fainted the seaking did not, the wolfs fainted the seaking did not, the guards fainted the seaking did not…. They all fainted after the stare but the seaking? I can see the seaking bit being haki but let's not tie every time luffy screams at some to be haki... that's just dump.

It's a huge ass seaking also after it swam off how do you know it didn't faint (Motobaro stumbled around before it fainted)? That was clearly haki, it even had the eye emphasis just like other haki uses. Remember that was a long time ago, Oda might not have thought of the fainting part till later in the story.

I'm probably going to regret debating with you, but I want to say that you're missing the entire point.
The point is that Shanks probably could have made the Sea King faint, but the fact that he didn't proves that Haki can be used in ways other than knocking people out cold.
Well, that and all those aforementioned examples I've cited above proves that Haki has other uses.

What person was scared the shit out of by haki. I haven't seen haki scare the shit out of someone before, have you? if you have I've lost I forgot we're taking about the one luffy uses ok.

He could but didn't so we don't know.
I thought there were types of haki as well right? This started from linking luffy use of haki before the bison who fainted and before the fainting there was no links between luffy and haki. We've only seen luffy knock people out with it, it wasn't me who put shanks into the mix. -

So you're trying to say that you are right because you forgot that luffy had a "haki" outburst that scared the amazons?

try looking at your own sig

That's surprise and that wasn't in the manga :P the whole effect, of course they would be scared of someone who as the haoushoku.

He could but didn't so we don't know.
First, as I've said before, I don't claim to know what Haki actually is. The act of knocking someone out could be scaring the shit out of them, but since none of us know exactly what Haki is, I feel we shouldn't be so quick to dismiss ideas that could potentially work.
Again, you've completely missed the point. It is because the Sea King didn't faint (and the numerous examples I've given that you probably didn't read) that proves Haki can be used in methods other than knocking people out.

The thing about arguing about Haki is that we don't know a heck of alot about it.
While it is true we've only seen Luffy knock out animals and people with Haki, the thing is Luffy isn't even aware of his Haki. As Hancock said, he hasn't mastered it. Who's to say that the different uses of Haki are more power moves that need a mastery of Haki in order to use?
So really, there isn't an arguement here. I've established Haki has different uses and it's obvious (as you and I have pointed out) that Luffy can't use these yet.

It wasn't in the manga so they weren't scared but by logic of course they would have been scared by someone with the highest form of haki.[hide][/hide]

I editted my last post and said that… I'll call it my lose ok...

Looks like I lost that discussion, anyway I've been wondering if haki exists on other Island within the Calm belt. Could haki be related to why the Calm belt is so y'know calm. Could this also mean haki might not be able to knock out seakings who are from the Calm belt? Let's keep this thread alive just a bit longer!

As long as you realize what I'm trying to say.
However, be it your favorite thread or not, I feel that you shouldn't fight to keep this thread alive. If it must die, it must die.
In a debate, evidence is that of a powerful sabre that can pierce the weak points of a arguement. Evidence is also a mighty shield that can defend your points from the strongest attacks of your opponent. Without credible evidence or reasonable assumptions, you shall lose every time.
So I'll finish this post (and hopefully my contributions to this thread) by saying this:
The Calm Belt is referred as such probably because it lacks wind. Thus most ships cannot make it through there.
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/101/06/
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/101/07/Why Amazon Lily residents can easily use Haki is a mystery. Until we know what actually causes Haki, it is pointless to guess why Amazon Lily residents know about and can use Haki.
Presumably, most (if not all) Sea Kings come from the Calm Belt because it is a Sea King breeding area. So even if Haki could affect Sea Kings differently depending on where they are from, it shouldn't matter because Sea Kings are already from the Calm Belt.

I already know, I was reading chapter 101 only a few hour ago. But it doesn't rule out other islands within the calm belt using it.
