Seems there's not a thread for this yet.
Anyway, here's the E3 trailer:
This looks pretty awesome. It's pretty cool that the newest Metroid game is in third person instead of first person. Also, can't wait for it to come out! ^^

Personally, I think this game is gonna kick all the world's ass. But that's just me.
I've said this in several other places and I'll say it here, yay for Itagaki resigning from Team Ninja before he could turn Samus into Tits McGee.
At this point I'm honestly pretty indifferent to the game itself. I'm pumped for there being a new Metroid title, but I'd love to see some more footage. Oh well, time will tell!
It's pretty cool that the newest Metroid game is in third person instead of first person.
It also looked like there was a part where it was in 1st person as well, so maybe they're combining both.
Either way, it's ominous as to how this could turn out. It did superb in 2D and awesome in a first person shooter, but third person? Hmmm.
There was alot of skepticism about the Prime series until it came out, so gameplay isn't too big a deal for me as far as the actual gameplay (yeah yeah different developers rabble rabble).
The story's going to be pretty dang awkward though.

I never thought about it until now, but there never was much dialogue in the past Metroids, and looking at the trailer, they seem to break that tradition.
Hrm. How much you wanna bet there's gonna be a metroid?!?!
I've waited over 15 years for a traditional console metroid. Hopefully this'll be it.
Every Metroid game I've ever played has been amazing. Add Team Ninja and this might top the first Prime.
I'd prefer something that would top super metroid. Fusion, Zero Mission & the prime trilogy were all good, but a seventeen year old game is still the best example of both the franchise and the genre.

Somehow, I doubt Nintendo would've let him do that anyway.
Either way it's nice he's not with them, haha.
Any noob who don't know Team Ninja is (makers of Ninja Gaiden) don't know how awesome this game is gonna be.
It's gonna be very fast paced and, essentially, its gonna be like the SNES metroids but only 3d.
This might surpass Prime.

Yeah, because there's loads of people asking who Team Ninja are around here.
I just hope nintendo manage to curb their less desirable tendencies that lead to mess ups like NG2.
Itagaki left but Ninja Gaiden Stigma 2 will still have plenty of tits to share.
But I feel Metroid series has over the years become more, uh, sexually aware anyway. So I wouldn't be totally surprised if Nintendo would be ok if this game ends up serving the needs of the few Samus obsessed fans.
Saw the trailer for it while watching E3. I liked the Metroids for Gamecube, but the one for Wii i liked just a little less because of the controls( way better on a real controller). But seeing this trailer is making me think that it could be really sweet if they get the controls for the Wiimote right. I just wish i could see the game on a next-gen system, bet it would look excellent. I'll be keeping my eyes on this project and hoping for the best.
Man, I was very excited for this. One of the few surprises that Nintendo had for me this E3. The new approach to it looks pretty interesting and indeed fast paced. I can't wait to see more.
When I saw this trailer, I shat bricks. I love Metroid, I love Ninja Gaiden, I've always wanted Nintendo to touch on the storyline a little more… GAH! Too many things I love about this! I WANT TO PLAY THIS NOW!
This looks awesome. Finally, a Metriod that isn't a full FPS.

Plus the Director has worked on just about all the 2D metroid games.

not really sure what this is all about, but sounds good to me. Samus is a warrior. I want to see her T and A as much as I wanna see Indiana Jones wandering around in a Loin cloth. it's just silly. you wanna go see T and A, go play tomb raider. that's what that game was made for. (stupid game)
Looks good to me. I hate FPS in general, but I really got the hang of the prime games and had fun. I just hope that if they're trying to put in all that talking, into the story, that they're not gonna ruin the feel.
Itagaki used to run Team Ninja. He gave us such "delights" as Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball.
But with Sakamoto in charge here, I'm really looking forward to it.
World: Hey a new Metroid trailer.
Me: Ho-hum. Another Metroid.

Me: MY BRAIN IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST SEE AND HOW CAN I GET IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!???
Has there been any news about that Metroid Prime Trilogy release?
When I eventually have a Wii that's something I'm probably more likely to buy since I never played Prime 2 or 3. Even though Prime 1 was like my favourite GameCube game, and my favourite Metroid game too.
The only ones I've seen are september for uk & august for usa.
Also:
does best MB captain N impression "Mother brain's gonna get ya!"

A lot of people don't like metroid's foray into FPS games. It took me a while to get into the prime series myself.
ya, so if he;s not a fan of the prime series, then why is he shitting his pants over this game? :)

I don't know. Because it's incorporating 3rd person, 2D gameplay? I really don't know. It's Greg. Don't question it.

Third person viewpoint & being directed by one of the key guys behind the 2Dmetroid series is why I'm excited. This looks to be closer to the classic metroid games then prime. I would imagine it's something similar for Greg, but who knows?
I never did played the first Metroid Prime, but I love the 2nd and 3rd though. About the wii one, you can also substitue the wii remote for the gamecube remote.
Anyway, I can't wait to play this third one, since of course it would be awesome (though I never really did finished the 3rd, since it was really hard, evenw/ the guide)
The first Prime is legendary. Really well done overall, good depth of Metroid mythology in that one too. One of those games that when you beat it you feel like you accomplished something. Then you play it on the harder difficulty.
I don't know guys…. I don't like it because it has pink enemies. PINK!
Maybe it's just me loving metroid prime but still.

Have you seen her "Zero Suit"?! You're gonna get TnA, weather you like it or not!

I think what we saw was mostly an early design prototype of the game. If you'll notice the graphics don't seem quite as good, so I think there's still a lot of work and fine-tuning to be done.
I'm pretty sure some of the 2D metroid games have pink enemies. Or was it purple? been a while, but anyway, space pirates come in all sorts of colours. What's wrong with pink?
I think some of those hopping enemies from Super Metroid were purple or pink-ish. If memory servies. But yeah, I don't think pink is necessarily a bad thing.
what was wrong with the other metroid games?
Prime?
Nothing.
It was a work of art. A gaming masterpiece I'd say.
No bullshit.
But that last one on Wii? Bleck. My ho-hum was simply that since everyone lathered praise on them for putting out a product inferior to Prime, I thought they'd continue to spiral down that dark hole of mediocrity.
But this.
THIS.
Wow.
^You didn't like Corruption Greg? Hmm, I thought it was good. Maybe not all that memorable, but good. Better than Echoes anyway.
Wasn't the Echo Visor used like, what, 7 times? You use it to kill a few enemies, open a few doors, and defeat one boss, and that was it?
I found it ironic since the game's subtitle was, y'know…Echoes. Yet the visor wasn't used as much as I thought it would've been.
Prime?
Nothing.

….What?! Prime 3 had far more expansive and detailed environments than Prime, as well as an actual narrative, and you're saying Prime 1 is the Materpiece and Prime 3 is mediocre?! Por queeeee?!

Nope. You can dig up the thread for my ranting on it. Among many things that which still sticks in my mind most of all is how they actually made the guns LESS cool and even less of them isn't that right? How do you do that? It's like…the point of any game series is to make things bigger and better.
The original Prime felt more organic. More like a real Metroid game. As if Super Metroid came to life.
Not to mention I think I died like what? Twice?
Also splitting up the world? Bullshit. I forgot about that.
The most awesome point of any Metroid game is how by the end, you can get from any point to ANY point on a HUUUUUuUGE map in a matter of moments with your gear.
In P3 they totally scrapped that to whisk us away to 'exotic environments'.
Actually....I can't even remember the final boss. Not being a sarcastic dick. I seriously can't.
Check please.

I haven't beaten the game yet, but I think it was…
! A Metroid Prime?
@Mr.:
I haven't beaten the game yet, but I think it was…
! A Metroid Prime?
Actually…
! It was Dark Samus, and that Aurora computer thing (most completely out of left field final boss ever)
! How was it out of left field? The storyline had been telling you from the beginning that one of the Aurora units was stolen and being used by the enemy.
! And, I'm sorry, I know Greg likes to be dramatic about his grievances, but forgetting that Dark Samus, the main villain of the game, who was plastered on so much of the game's promo material, was the final boss, is just goofy as hell.
! As I said, I don't remember too much from the game, but I vaguely remember that subplot with the Aurora Unit. However, I don't think it was brought up enough and I certainly wasn't expecting to fight the damn thing.
Thank you Nobody.
Even more lame than I remembered.
What I DO remember is a giant fucking insane crab Metroid fucker that I had to assault like a mofo in order to best.
Oh I think Ridley was cool in P3 though. I remember…some of it. At least I remember thinking it looked really cool.
Thank you Nobody.
…..............I've waited so long to hear those words.
Even more lame than I remembered.

Yeah, Metroid Prime was pretty f*cking hard (not to mention intimidating) from what I remember. And as if that weren't enough you have to go up against that translucent tentacle thing afterwards.
Oh I think Ridley was cool in P3 though. I remember…some of it. At least I remember thinking it looked really cool.
Duh. Ridley is always cool.
! You didn't expect to fight the computer unit that was not-too-subtly revealed to be the same type of unit as the Mother Brain?! Hell, the second they mentioned one was stolen, first thing I told my friend was "ten bucks says you have to fight it."
! Wow. All right dude, honestly, I don't know what it is. I don't if it's because I wasn't paying attention, if it's because I just don't remember because it's been so long, or if it's because the game wasn't as "not-so-subtle" as you claim it to be, but I don't remember them saying the Aurora unit was the same kind of unit as Mother Brain at all. I have zero recollection of it.
! Oh, and sure, I always expect to fight things that the enemy steals (actually, they kind of threw us for a loop there in Super Metroid.)
!
^Aurora Unit video. Pops up early in the game, and everyone was talking about it beforehand.
! And you fought Mother Brain in the first Metroid, too, so again, where's the loop there?!
