Ohio man seeks trial over getting DUI on motorized Barstool http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/03/31/barstool.dui/index.html
(CNN) – An Ohio man says he is seeking a jury trial on a charge of driving under the influence that was slapped on him after he crashed the vehicle he was piloting -- a barstool.
"It was just an accident. I mean a little minor accident," Kile Wygle, 28, explained in an interview this week with CNN affiliate WSYX.
His homemade vehicle was made from a barstool welded to a small metal frame attached to a five-horsepower lawnmower engine, four wheels and a lawnmower steering wheel, according to the Newark, Ohio, police accident report.
Officers responding to a report of a crash with injuries March 4 said they found Wygle nursing his injuries and highly intoxicated. According to the police report, when asked how much he had had to drink, Wygle responded, "a lot."
He crashed during his attempt at a U-turn while speeding down the street in front of his home – a daring move from atop the specialized barstool even for the most nimble and sober of men. Measuring 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, and after having consumed what he later told an officer was 15 beers, Wygle appeared to be neither.
He was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
According to the police report, Wygle claims his unique vehicle can reach a speed of 38 miles per hour, though at the time of the crash he was going around 20.
He entered a plea of not guilty

Oh Goddammit, they wait till I move out of Ohio 2 years ago after living there all my life for cool shit to happen.

No, not everyone take drugs. Many people have a lot more self-respect than that.
Jeez, I was just joking. I've never taken drugs, and never will. Don't try to tell me I don't have any self-respect.

You traded a shot at motorized barstools for a fucked-up healthcare system, corrupt senators, Al Gore Jr., and a 9.25% sales tax? Maaaan…
And the Bluejackets beat the Preds last night. Sheesh. Compared with Ohio, Tennesseans just don't catch many breaks do we?

Pretty heavy earthquake hit L'Aquila/Italy today
Rescue workers in Italy were searching through the night for survivors after the country’s deadliest earthquake in nearly 30 years killed more than 150 people and left tens of thousands sheltering in makeshift camps.
The 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck shortly after 3.30am local time, flattening entire towns throughout the mountainous heartland of Abruzzo and leaving more than 50,000 homeless. Hundreds of people are still thought to be trapped under the rubble.http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article6047691.ece
I hate stuff like that, but there is nothing you can do. Only think one can do is donate a little something…
I hope our Italian users are doing fine... -

Already 900 infected(60 dead) in Mexico and it can spread from human to human. This is obviously the next global epidemic.

oh god. this is just like when everyone overreacted about SARS. the media likes to blow everything out of proportion.

Yeah, influenza. Heard of that. Hopefully, I don't get it

oh god. this is just like when everyone overreacted about SARS. the media likes to blow everything out of proportion.
This one is a bit different, Mexico city is basically shut down. The media isn't posting this stuff to make a huge panic, the actual government in Mexico City is showing the most emergency and its in a time they are already hurting for tourism so they have no reason to spread the panic unless it was crucial.
Also outbreaks of influenzo strains with Bird based strains (Its bird to Swine to Human viral strain, the swine being the medium thus the name) should be closely watched and maybe even quarantined. The virus has a history of mutating and it has a certain viral strain that had the likeness of the Avian flu which thankfully until now could not be transported from person to persron. This one is different as it IS being transported from person to person. Right now its mild, but there are few if any ways to suppress the effects of those that are affected.
The actual flu by the way isn't killing people, its the alergic reaction some people might have to the virus. If you have a very resistant and healthy immune system you are the most at risk of dieing since it basically makes your immune systems reactions go in over drive and make you die from the actual immune system reaction and not neccesarily the affect the virus will have on the actual person (standard flu stuff, coughs fevers, etc.)
Also more info is out and the Swine flu has now been confirmed to have cases in several places all over the world from people (new zealand, 4 different US states, England, possible one in France and Israel too) that just came from mexico on trips. No fatalities yet but they had interaction with other people before they went to the hospital. Just keep an eye on news and other sources. If this influenza strain mutates it could be a pandemic. Hope to god it doesn't do that or it could be as bad as the flu back during world War I or worse. (History note over 20 million died of a similar Swine based flu in 10 months shortly after World War I.)
Hopefully it will fizzle out and mutation will decay, but this viral strain is the very kind of thing that worried people over SARs that never happened. Again if it doesn't mutate we will probably just go on with our lives as always, but these things are something to be concerned about so that we are prepared for the potential worse so there is minimal amount of deaths as possible.

right. if it doesn't mutate. it hasn't done anything yet. But this is what everyone is going to be focusing on. "OMG, did you hear, it's mutating, we're all gonna get infected" the WHO, and government officials for the different countries are working on quarantining the sick and fixing this problem. Yes it could become a pandemic. Yes I could get hit by a car today. Should I be bleaching my house down and avoiding anyone who looks like a mexican? should I be scared to cross the street? I'm just saying people over react and worry about things before there's even anything to worry about. If people are really worried, they should start washing their hands more. People don't do enough of that.

Best teacher ever. Also about the flu, I really think it's gonna be as bad as the flu epidemic after WW1. There's no way it can be stopped because people are gonna ignore warnings not to travel and they're gonna spread the virus around. I'm 90% sure.

There is too little information on the actual circumstances of this particular influenza strain, but if even half the info coming out of Mexico is true, it could be pretty bad, but flu strains are notorious for mutations and they could mutate to a deadly form or even into a much milder form, its all up to nature lol. Just take a cautious and informed approach and don't worry about it too much.
In terms of information, we don't have a clue of how many people are actually affected with a milder case of the swine flu in Mexico, the supposed 81 deaths might be nothing more than .1% fatality rate if 10,000+ are actually affected. which is no worse than the normal influenza virus people get every year. Mexico city's medical facilities might not have the best retroviral equipment that a place like the US will have as well, at least in lower income areas. The one thing I am bit miffed at though is why the hell they havn't stopped international flights going to and from Mexico city while they are under this virus scrutiny, they are just asking for this to be a worldwide pandemic.
This could easily be a shot in the wind that won't kill many people (we will probably have some deaths in the US but nothing more than a normal flu virus, remember 36 thousand people die every year to the flu from complications) but we definitely should at least be up to date on the information when we can, the best way to stop outbreaks is information and precaution. Humanity in a way is actually due for a major outbreak of deadly influenza too sadly, we have one once or twice a century with the last one happening in 1971. There is just no way to predict the nature of these virus :( which is why every other year there is a warning for these problems. I know people are starting to do a "cry for wolf" situation so all im asking is that people take it seriously no matter how many times you have heard it. Information is our greatest weapon against these issues.

I hope this virus be stopped before it's too late. This will be a tough first year for obama, fixing economic crisis, maintaining peace and order, global relations and now trying to stop a potential global epidemic.
