I've had Tetris Pary for a week and here's what I can say (for prospective buyers).
If you have Tetris DS, you might not want this game.
If you do not have a Balance Board, you may not want this game.
If you like unlocking things, you may not want this game.
If you do not like multiplayer that is similar to Puyo Puyo and not point based, you may not like this game.Having said this, I think this game is alright. It has the basic form of Tetris in it (the background does not change) while having other forms (that aren't as fun, unfortunately).
A large portion of the game is for Balance Board use only, something I do not have.
Online modes aren't that great, however, because none of them are point based. You can play with items on or off, that's it.
There is, however, some sense of purpose when playing. If you view your records, there are little challenges to complete. They don't tell you what they are until you get them, but once you unlock a few it's easy to guess the rest.
Also, there is NO CAP-OFF limit. On Gentle Tetris, I thought it would cap-off at 999 lines (it wouldn't fit more). 30-40 minutes later, the numbers shrunk so that it could fit 1000. I stopped past that.
-
Oi RuNa, do you HAVE to play with the Balance Board? Like if you are an old Tetris fan?
-
^
No, but a majority of their advertised "modes" are balance board only.I can't even go on the menu because I don't have one.
-
Gradius II?
Wonder how this game is.
I have seen Gradius III on Youtube and it looks cool, so I may get these 2 when i get the chance. -

Unless you're interested in Sonic Unleashed, there isn't much I can think of.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World came out today…if you're interested.
-
Does anybody know if Dawn of the new world is any good?

-
600+ blocks… Should I be worried?
Not at all.
Even then, if you're left with a choice to delete things, delete any of the VC games you've downloaded, as you can redownload them whenever you get the chance, save files and etc. intact and all.
I have less than 100 blocks on my Wii (if I'm not mistaken). So that should make you a bit happier.

have no idea what the update does

That's because it came out on 11/17.It was some lame update that "strengthened security" (put more blocks to homebrew) and had something like USB keyboard support for Mii Channel.
EDIT: BIG NEWS
http://hackmii.com/2008/11/rise-of-the-dead/
Twilight Hack works again, so if you install the Homebrew Channel you can make your wii region free.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/933/933583p1.html
Good article, for IGN anyways :getlost:
Smash Bros is so boring now. And for some reason i didnt even really like Mario Kart Wii, i kinda wish i never bought the system and just kept saving for a PS3 or got some 360 games. Sonic Unleashed wii is dogshit… Anyways what do you think on the article and topic question.
-
well yeah, it's sort of obvious the wii is borderline dead at the moment. the fact that there's periods of time up to 6 or 7 months where I don't have ANYTHING interesting I want to play on the wii is pretty pitiful. and if nintendo really is bringing new zelda, mario, pikmin, kid icarus… hurry the fuck up, because i've been bored with your damn console for a while now.
-
I agree. There's pretty much no good games coming out on the Wii. We'll just continue to get them half-assed games that are remakes of internet flash games.
-
Personaly I don't think nintendo tried to get the hardcore gamers, and I feel that was the right choice.
What is parents going to grab for kids on xmas? What is nonplayers going dip there toe into? And what about people like me who don't play many games and want a system only for casual play every once and a while for nostaga state?
Nintendo has niche and has always focused on it. And that's why I play nintendo.
-
That's the thing, nintendo only seems to focus on the casual players now. Ever since they released Brawl, we've only got a handfull of good games
-
What's wrong with that?
The PS3 and 360 already have the hardcore market cornered. Why waste money fighting them when they can focus on a untapped market.
-
I suppose that's a good point. It just kind of annoys me that they're just taking flash games and putting them onto a game system. It's not like i'm going to spend fourty dollars on Line Rider.
-
Whatever happened to Nintendo releasing original content from a 1st party source.
What have we got on Wii?
On Gamecube atleast we had Animal Crossing (no the 64 version doesn't count) and Pikmin. Both great series (although City Folk is lacking)… the Wii has just been REHASH and CASUALS. -
I havent played the wii much either. i only play the wii when I get a rental for it. Mostly nowadays its either DS or Online games.
the only games I want right now are One Piece, Animal Crossing and possibly WWE SD vs Raw 09
Brawl is getting boring for single plyer… and SMS:charged was horrible for a wii version
-
I have a feeling that more people in this topic need to start playing import games so that they don't feel bored with their Wii.

I would be playing some if the wii wasnt locked

Read my post before that one. The one where I told you what the Wii update did. -
The only real problem with the Wii is the lackadaisical quality standards that Nintendo has when it comes to third party development, (no more Nintendo seal of quality after all) cause when you think about it, them taking their sweet time to first-party stuff isn't anything new. Its good in the sense that it opens up the door for small developers and creates some security for Nintendo, but of course you also end up with copious amounts of shovelware burying some decent titles.
I've heard good things about Boom Blox though.

Well, doesn't this void your Wii's warranty? And I've heard you can't play newer released games on your Wii because you need to update, and that update won't work with Twilight Hack or something.

Your warranty should have been dead a LONG time ago. Besides, why would you need one anyway? Unless you physically did something wrong, there hasn't ever been any reports of problems that occured a while after the Wii was used.
Twilight HACK was locked out. The Homebrew Channel, once installed, still stayed on the system. Now, they have gotten around the problem and Twlight Hack works again. You only have to use it once to get the Homebrew Channel on and then you won't need it again.
I have a 90 day extension on my warranty and not going to void it.
When did you get your Wii
People are always talking about Warranty issues. While you can't personally go off of me, I have had 2 PS2s (one old one slim), a PS3, a PSP, 2 DSs (1 old one Lite), & 2 Wiis all brand new imported and not ONCE have I ever had any problems. That AND my warranty was pretty much non-existent.
If you buy your console normally, however, your warranty doesn't last long anyway. The only console out right now that you absolutely need a warranty for is XBOX 360.

Hey guys maybe you can help me with a question I have. I've had my Wii for about a year and never really needed/wanted to use the online services. My question is this. Does the Wii internet only work with a wireless router? Or is there a jack in port for the cable that I'm just not seeing. I've examined the Wii fairly carefully but don't see any possible way to manually plug it in. I'd like to purchase the Megaman 9 game but am unable to with out wireless. Thanks for the advice and patience with my n00b moment.

The Wii's Internet service works with both a wireless and wired router, but you'll have to buy the Wii LAN Adapter if you wanna use the wired variant.
The Wii LAN Adapter connects to the Wii via USB. There should be two ports for USB connections on the back of the Wii.
