American History X was always a very powerful film to me… very good. Maybe "Downfall" most recently, the one about Hitler. Also a great film.
-
The original Star Wars trilogy. Not only did they produce an assload of murchandise, they had a prequel triligoy made for them nearly 30 years later!
-
Hotel Rwanda is probably the most powerful movie I've seen in the last two years.

Yaaha. Same here, even though I'm not an American citizen or anything, it was cinematically, a very thought provoking and powerful film. The ending especially made it all the more incredible and ironic. Loved the thing, got it on DVD somewhere.
I can't really think of what was the most powerful film ever… I mean, Audition, by Takeshi Miike was very powerful in that it was the film where most people walked out in the premiere because of it's shock factor. As was his other film Ichi the killer due to it being the most violent movie ever.
When I think of most powerful, however, I think of movies that make people change their views or perhaps do something drastic or out of character. Maybe a movie that causes people to become violent... I can't think of an example, but someone else probably will, so I'll leave it to them.

Porpably….Shindlers list. Damn, I was horribly fascinated by that movie, and I've got to see Der Untergang someday- it should be even "worse".
American history X is definetely up there, along with "Missisippi burning" and "Gallipoli".
And if were talking politically powerful, Fahrenheit 9/11. -
Star wars…well yeah. It was a powerful movie. Sure changed my life forever. Thanks to that I'm broke

Super Size Me
Really made me feel about what McDonalds was really serving us.Didn't really concerned me though, I'm as skinny as a toothpick.
-
Super size me was pretty gross, stupid Mcdonalds.
I think that the most impactive movie that something had on me was either….Pulp fiction or Star wars.
-
National Lampoon movies…. impacted me alot.....
-
Sin City left me with a sense of awe and actually sent a chill down my spine. Not many movies can do that to me.
-
I think the Power of One and Pay It Forward was really powerful.
Power of One: talks about the racism basically, but really touching
Pay It Forward: talks about a kid doing a homework assignment about what you can do for the world, and he comes up with an idea that one person does three ppl good things and then they have to pay it forward to three other people. It was a reallly sad sad movie

Definitely Requiem for A Dream. Best movie I've ever seen, and DAMN powerful. Few people don't cry. I didn't, I'm a cinematic sociopath :D
American History X is probably #2, also, both Frank Darabont movies, Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.I saw Bang Bang Your Dead. I thought it was overdone, sorta stupid. That whole bit with the play was retarded.
-
Schindlers' List is being put in the same topic as Super Size Me…

Requim for a Dream is pretty powerful. The triumph and downfalls of all four of the main characters were pretty frightening. The mom always scared me the most. It's a movie done by Darron Arronafsky, the same guy that did Pi.

Hmm…
I don't think anyone has mentioned Magnolia. I could not help but be completely moved my that film. It was unusual, sharp, sudden, staggering, sad, funny, ironic, dramatic…all at the same time. I love the individual vignettes of the characters, and the incredible intuition that director Paul Thomas Anderson displays in his presentation of the entire film. The cast does a spectacular job. Way to really break out of the mold...
-sigh-
Oh, oh! What about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? I found that the film to be the kind to move you to heights of emotions you wouldn't have imagined…
-
Grave of the Fireflies. Those poor, poor kids.
-
Requiem for a dream is one of the best movies I've ever seen.
But the best…SALO! (or THE 120 DAYS OF SODOM)
By Pier Paolo Pasolini.
Brilliant. Powerful. "Gross" for those who can't feel.

i agree with you very much here. its not all the time u get to see what happens really in other countries. this movie is just so insightful. not many movies can show the devastation and chaos in one country. the pain and the sorrow.
-
I've been meaning to see Hotel Rwanda for ages, I guess I should finally go and see it…
Requiem for a Dream was a great, great movie. Hard to imagine I only stumbled upon it using Kazaa like 4 years ago. Same with "Pi", also a rather odd film... Darren Aronofsky has some kind of talent.
And Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is just... <3

I haven't eaten McDonald's since I saw Super Size Me. That film should become required.
Pulp Fiction for me. Definately
