You're not the only one arousing the ire of animal rights activists, Lindsay Lohan – in an effort to raise awareness of turkey cruelty in the lead up to Thanksgiving, PETA has launched a new Flash game taking aim at Cooking Mama (via Kotaku). Called "Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals," the game is intended to "urge Majesco to make a vegetarian recipe version of Cooking Mama."
Featuring an evil rendition of Mama herself (you can tell she's evil because of her extreme scowl), the bizarre Flash game has you preparing and cooking a turkey for a Thanksgiving meal. Doing so involves plucking its feathers, ripping out its innards, stuffing it, cutting its head off, and cooking it, with each step featuring bloody results that are clearly intended to disgust rather than appetize. Players are urged to go for the top rank of "Meaner than Mama" in each event."She looks innocent enough -- a happy woman who has a twinkle in her eye and loves to cook -- but if you take just a minute to think about what happens to the animals who are killed for Mama's meals, a fun cooking game no longer seems quite so innocent," a statement associated with the game reads. The game also directs players to a fairly graphic video of how turkeys are raised and killed in factory farms.
The first question this whole thing probably raises: How can PETA possibly get away with this without Majesco suing them? The next question: Is Cooking Mama really the best target for PETA to go after? For our part, we think Link's terrible treatment of poultry has gone unchecked for far too long.
Funny them going all batshit on Majesco and this game what with Eid coming around the corner in a few weeks :V
