RE: Season 1 General Discussion
I binged the season in two days (which is weird for me, but here we are).
I wasn't disappointed (partly because I set my expectations to a reasonable level). The best thing about the show is that it's pretty damn entertaining and has enough heart to make me feel interested and invested.
Also the costumes and make-up. Oh God, I loved every single one of them, even the ridiculous-but-in-a-wrong-way ones. When Buchi walked into the scene, I almost burst out laughing. In contrast, the fishmen looked incredible as well as most other weird accessories and clothing. Loved the Marine coat-capes, as well as the redesigned uniforms. Even Nezumi's stupid mouse-eared hoodie, I would actually love to own.I had no problem with most of the changes they needed or decided to implement. Giving Bogard more presence was neat, but I felt it lost it's potential with Garp being... well... Ugh, I'm not a fan at all of what they did to Garp. He's a straight up asshole and while he did do questionable things in the manga/anime, he was fairly likeable and funny and very visibly related to Luffy. Here, he's too straight (haha) which robs the potential of Bogard being the responsible and serious sidekick keeping it all together while Garp's throwing cannonballs at his new recruits to teach them how to dodge good or something like that.
The actors were all pretty great, and managed to translate some of the wacky movements/quirks quite well into live-action. Kuro's claw flourish unironically looked cool (in contrast, him adjusting his glasses felt off almost every time). While Nezumi looked less scummy (purely appearance-wise), I like his little whisker-twitch when Garp ended the dick-measuring contest with the ranks.

RE: What are you Playing?
Funny thing is, I wasn't really looking forward to this game. As in, I didn't know about it, and only read a few headlines here and there about how it was great and refreshing in today's gaming scene.
I bought it after three of my friends purchased it and I found it was was basically Dnd on PC (yeah, I wasn't even aware of that, lol). Being able to play together was an added bonus. Now I'm desperately trying to avoid any spoilers, carefully tiptoeing on the internet, because I do want to explore the game and its story and its characters going on as blind as possible.

RE: Chapter 1082: Let's Go and Take It!
I'm really digging Ushiano's design. It's so silly, but the more that I look at it, the more endearing it gets.

RE: Confession Session II
I'm starting the really despise my job. Not the act of translating and subtitling itself, but the place and general vibe. Which sounds strange when I consider I work mostly from home.
There has been a lot of changes in the company and in our department over the past few years, most notably that a lot of people in leading positions have been fired, and new people were put in their place. Now, the previous bosses were pretty neat and understood what our work entailed and how to make it all work. They also stood firmly between us the "higher-higher ups", meaning that they fought tooth and nail to not let corporate bullshit reach us and communicate our needs and grievances the other way.
So that has changed. With that, the vibe started shifting from a kind of easy-going atmosphere towards the typical corporate one. Lots of meetings that only serve as a check box in someone's list or just straight up waste our time. Lots of "hey, there's this completely new system of doing things, from now on, you have to use it even though it's not even half-finished and it works like shit most of the time".
And now they've finally reached me. They're trying to micromanage how I do my job and don't seem to understand that my workload is stupidly huge nowadays. They just want to add to that, and even though I, and also my other colleagues have clearly stated, that no, I can't reasonably be asked to take on more, they just... don't listen. Important to note that what I do, I basically do alone. As in, I'm the only person doing the subtitles and translating them. On paper, there are ways to substitute me in case I wanna have a day or two off, but in practice...Despite my and my team's best effort, it doesn't work, and we know this because in fall last year, I had surgery and was away for a month. And boy, my poor team... It's was ridiculous. I spent a good portion of my workdays before my surgery preparing a guide (yes, and actual guide) on what to look out for and how to do things. We've had multiple meetings.
Nowadays, my workload is often so much, I can't finish things in time, the quality of my translations suffer, I make more mistakes, and yet they still want me to make "transcription notes" for the other translators, and fucking scour through actual fucking episodes for timecodes so they can easily look up the "official" translations for certain phrases. Which don't even work most of the time since a trailer often has a very different structure.
They pay isn't even that good anymore. My friends just starting to work earn more than me and I've been at this company for more than 6 years. I'm not even an employee, I'm a fucking contractor, although I don't care about that anymore.
I'm currently trying to build myself a way out of this situation, but it won't happen overnight, and I'm fed up with it all.

RE: The history of Arlong Park Forums
Internet usernames are strange. It's only by sheer luck I managed to chose something presentable and fairly cool-sounding for my Apforums handle.

Pixel Art by Nolus
Heya Everyone,
Guess who started drawing again after, like, a decade or so.
This time, I'm dipping my toes into pixel art, because it's cheap (as in, completely free) and I've been meaning to try it out for some time now. Seeing as I don't have anything major going on for the next few months, the opportunity presented itself on a silver platter.
So here are my little creations so far. I'm mostly experimenting and trying to learn color theory and such.
Those familiar with Darkest Dungeon can recognize my favourite guy from the game, the Leper.
Next up is something I did without reference. It's a dog. A very brown dog.
And now for my bigger projects, with added progression pics.

!
!Once again, my love for the Leper shows through. Kinda proud of this one. Was originally going to be an animation (with the flower gently swaying in the wind, petals flying floating above the mask etc.) but decided not to bite more than I can chew.
I'm not 100% satisfied with the sky to be honest, but since it's not really the focus of the picture, I left it as it was in the end.And my latest piece, one that I spent an embarrassingly long time on.

!
!
!I struggled a lot in the beginning with finding the correct shape and visualizing what I wanted to do. Somehow I ended up with this "3-steps" sort of thing.
I looked up a bunch of tutorials, learn something new about colors and went through a lot of trial and error. A fun journey overall.
I tried having a patch of grass for the stone to sit on, but I wasn't satisfied with what I made, so I scrapped that idea. That's it for now~

RE: The Arlong Park Anniversary thread!
When I first came here, I was but a little girl with dreams.
Now I'm a slightly bigger man with a moustache.

RE: Souls Games thread
A pretty interesting analysis that goes into some of the less amazing aspects of Elden Ring. It's long, but you can just listen to it while doing something else, watching isn't really required.
