I hope I'll bring more "signal" than "noise" -- but to do that, I may need to lapse into lurking occasionally.

Here's an amusing little paradox about me :
I'm both the oldest AND the youngest member of this forum ...

    How can that be?

(hint : look at my birthday -- a famous pirate was also born on that day!)

*bows* thankyouverymuch! But Oda deserves the praise. He drew this stunning picture of Zoro. My contribution is just the maroonish background -- and the odd cropping job that makes my avatar somewhat yin-yang. Nice to meet you!

Awww! You make me blush! Nice to meet you Tony Tony Chopper. Fun sig! -- is that from Azumanga Daioh? If so, would you agree with me that the opening song is the best Kate Bush song that Kate never wrote or sang or had anything to do with. :)

That's an interesting birthday -- it's not my birthday, actually, but it's interesting! :)

Hey, I just remembered : my uncle's birthday is the same as Usopp's! Now talk about interesting birthdays ... I imagine he got teased a lot for being born on April Fool's Day though.

Twins! -- Now that's cool!! [I'm glad you liked my information -- nothing makes a "book-slinger" happier than to know they've delivered useflul and entertaining content on demand!] :)

Speaking of which : here's a Kate Bush video, for those who aren't familiar with her. (Sorry about the rotten sound quality -- this was the best YouTube had to offer. Does the Azumanga Daioh theme sound a little bit like this to anyone else too, or is it just me?

It doesn't remind me of the theme musically, but the singing does. Kate Bush is strange. She gets played a lot on XM 50 when I'm at work.

It must be because both have high, airy voices and similar phrasing : both singers sing their songs in a choppy, staccato way ("staccato"? -- that's just a fancy musical term for "choppy"). The music of both songs is also kind of stacc-- erm, CHOPPY, but at different speeds, so it isn't as obvious as the singing is. Kate has other songs that are like this too : "Gaffa" may not be the best comparison -- it was just the best YouTube had at the time. ;)

Yes, I agree completely : Kate is very strange, but few female musicians have enjoyed the artistic freedom that she has -- she sings, dances, plays many of her own insturments, creates her own album art, directs her videos, sews her costumes, programs her sequencers, etc ...Ok, maybe she's had a bit _too_ much artistic freedom! hahah!

.... But I like that eccentricity -- that unique approach to things. It's what I instantly liked about "One Piece" too : that there was this overabundance of personality within it -- this singular, eccentric vision of Oda's that nobody else has been able to duplicate. Many artists are trying to (have you ever typed "One Piece Doujinshi" into the search engine on Ebay?), but nobody's been successful because nobody can think like Oda does. A few can draw like him, but nobody has figured his mind-set out yet.

    Cheers to that!
