Ten bucks says they get around Mojo JoJo being costly to produce by putting his brain in The Professor's body or The Mayor's body. This way they can just use one of their actors to play a double role.

The CW's Powerpuff Girls are coming to life.

Dove Cameron (Liv & Maddie), Chloe Bennet (Agents of SHIELD) and Yana Perrault (Broadway's Jagged Little Pill) have been tapped to star in the network's live-action take on the beloved Cartoon Network animated series.

Ordered to pilot last month, the drama revolves around the Powerpuff Girls, who used to be America's pint-sized superheroes. Now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?

Cameron will play Bubbles Utonium, whose sweet-girl disposition won America's hearts as a child. She still sparkles as an adult, but her charming exterior belies an unexpected toughness and wit. She’s initially more interested in recapturing her fame than saving the world, but she just might surprise us and herself. Cameron earned a Daytime Emmy for her role on Disney Channel's Liv & Maddie in 2018 and counts Disney's Decendants and NBC's Hairspray Live among her credits. The casting reunites Cameron with Bennet, who previously worked together on ABC's Marvel drama Agents of SHIELD. She's repped by A3 Artists Agency, LBI and Felker Toczek.

Bennet is set as Blossom Utonium, who, though she was a spunky, conscientious, little-miss-perfect child who holds several advanced degrees, Blossom’s repressed kiddie-superhero trauma has left her feeling anxious and reclusive, and she aims to become a leader again — this time on her own terms. Bennet's credits also include ABC's Nashville. She's repped by CAA, MGMT Entertainment and McKuin Frankel.


Perrault rounds out the leading trio as Buttercup Utonium, who was the rebellious badass of The Powerpuff Girls in its heyday. More sensitive than her tough exterior suggests, Buttercup has spent her adulthood trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity and live an anonymous life. Perrault was most recently seen on Broadway in the Alanis Morissette musical Jagged Little Pill. Before the pandemic, the singer was poised to join the cast of Hamilton. She's repped by Hudson Artists Agency.

Based on the original Cartoon Network animated series and characters created by Craig McCracken, Heather Regnier (Veronica Mars, Sleepy Hollow) and Diablo Cody (Juno) will pen the script. The duo will exec produce alongside Berlanti and his Berlanti Productions banner partner Sarah Schechter and TV president David Madden. Maggie Kiley also exec produces and will direct the pilot.

I'm not familiar with any of the names involved so no judgement.

But at least they're moving the idea so far from the original its basically a new thing instead of a shallow shell. It'll work or fail on its own merits rather than just comparing it to the original.

Making them older and more jaded could be fun.

Dove is from the Disney movie Descendants (she has the purple hair don't remember the character name), Chloe was on Agents of Shield she played Daisy Johnson/Quake (Dove also played Ruby on here)
