With the opening already spoiling Dragon Kaido months ago, I suppose the manga approach wouldn't work here anyways. In face of that, adding the transformation scene so we could anticipate Kaido arriving at the scene and then his slow menacing reveal seemed like a wise choice, I think.

I’m not sure the anime opening spoiled the fact that Kaido shows up randomly this early in the arc, this close to our characters. All it spoiled was that he has a dragon form.
