    Default Discotek Media Discussion

I've always wanted to make this thread since I re-joined the Arlong Park Forums.

Anyways, Discotek has been a godsend to anime for a while. For those who don't know, they license and re-license old anime, including those that were out of print for ages, and sometimes even get newer titles. Heck, they recently confirmed picking up Kemono Friends season 1, which was a shock.

Also, I can't wait for Otakon because of this (sadly, I can't go ><):

For more context, here are Discotek's previous announcements from Otakon 2018. Some of their previously announced anime titles have release dates that are still TBA, including BoBoBo.

If you've been following Discotek, what kind of stuff are you looking forward to? Aside from BoBoBo, I'm waiting for the Giant Robo OVAs and maybe Honey and Clover.

I've gotten Monster Rancher, Samurai Pizza Cats, and a bunch of Lupin stuff, including Castle of Cagliostro from them, among other. They're good stuff.

Last Christmas, I got Orguss and Bananya from them. Last week, I ordered 5 Centimeters Per Second and also pre-ordered Kimagure Orange Road OVA/Movie set from RightStuf when they had their Discotek sale.

Speaking of Lupin, apparently, the English dub for both those movies are getting a screening at Anime Expo. I'm assuming Discotek will provide the BluRay/DVD releases for them later on. Oooh, can't wait!

I heard awhile back they were going to be releasing Bo-bobo on Blu-Ray with English dub and brand new subs. Can't wait for a release date!

Well Discotek made some big announcements today. They got Kodocha anime (including the first opening for the series, that wasn't on the Funimation release), Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple, and Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics (Yes, the series that aired on Nick during the late 80's - the early 90's).

I have to say, I'm happy that the 2nd half of the Kodocha anime is finally getting an U.S. release as well we're getting the first opening song in this release.

Fix'd. You may wonder why is that distinction important. And let me tell you, if you were told Nick Jr was the home for this piece of horror, you would never believe it.

Naw, that wasn't in the pre-school block.

    ...Was it?

It's been 35 years, I have no idea.

But holy crap that song is still burned into my brain even after all this time.

Maya the Bee and Noozles and David the Gnome are probably stuck in there too.

Mysterious Cities of Gold is the really odd one. Can't revisit it with the dubbing being as... old as it was.

Man, Nick knew where to go to get cheap programming before anime was popular.
