49 mons to go, (box legendary , 5 eevolutions, Silvaly and sir fetched being the ones that I can get any day, a bunch of weather dependent spawns most notably the deino line and mawile for trade purposes, and the versión exclusives or trade evolutions that I have been chipping away slowly)
Because it looks cool and its like a third new form/evolution.
Why must we be denied of that when its so cool.
Why do we have to make a choice and sacrifices.
I guess some pokemon are more special than others even though they are the same species.
Maybe gamefreak is trying to mimic real world you know like how everyone isnt born the same despite being the same race.

I was just using it as an example. Same applies for Corviknight, Impidimp's evo, or ufo ladybug. My point is I have an attraction to my team but if I wanted to use a Gigantimax I'd gave to catch a different one.

Gigantamax to me is pointless, and just a reason to make another Pikachu/eevee/charizard. To me they’re less about things I want to use and more about things I enjoy fighting and catching in raids with other people.

Also, hard to care when we know next gen will most likely ditch the giant stuff, much like it was useless to get totem Pokémon in usum, it will probably be useless to invest in gigantamax mons.

Like, eventually one gets caught, but questing and going above and beyond, for one different move and more pizzaz in the battle? Nah. Raiding has been fun tho.

I've had a blast raiding with a few of you guys. Been distracting me from finishing the Dex and the battle tower. But hey I've got some pretty neat stuff out of it too. Have several HA mons now, though none of the ones I actually want lol, and even a Ditto with Imposter.

Gigantamax made my homie Kingler relevant again. At least relevant again to me. But aside from Kingler I could care less. I will try to collect them all but the only Gigantamax I want to use is Kingler.

The second half of the gym challenge is disappointingly rushed. So much that before I noticed I became terribly overleveled because I didn't notice the lack of content between gyms meant their levels were hardly raising at all.
I kept thinking of the Badge "capture level limit" as a hint of what to expect from the Gym leader and ended up arriving at the 8th Leader with a team on lv55 while his highest level pokémon was lv48...

Besides the "catch 'em all" factor (the irony), Gigantamax serve basically no purpose.
It seems people are seeing Giga pokémon like Mega: a super boost that otherwise the pokémon will lack. But Gigantamax is exactly the same as Dynamax, except for one signature move it gets in exchange to a max move. Key point being "in exchange", meaning the signature move (G-Max) is not an addition, but it comes at the expense of the pokémon having access to a Max move... that more often than no, turns out to be significantly better than the G-Max (meaning that in many cases, like Flapple/Appletun or Centiskorch, having the Gigantamax Factor actually makes the pokémon worse).

It would make sense if Gigantamax pokémon had higher BST like the partner pikachu/eevee in LGPE, or if it provided a better stat boost than regular Dynamax, but is exactly the same thing. I don't get what GF was thinking... it just gets weirder when you notice they banned Gigantamax from ranked battles, it's almost like even GF didn't noticed Gigantamax are nothing but an aesthetic change with little to no practical difference in game.

Gigantamax really feels like they should've just been Mega Evolutions instead. And the competitive community so far seems to have disdain for Dynamax for understandable reasons.

I wish Kinglers GMax was his evolution instead.

Don't worry, they will get rid of it the next gen...yeah they could have just been mega evos(or just evolutions), but nah.

Finally got to the end of the game.

Final team ended up being Cursola, Appletun, Cinderace, Falinks, Corviknight, Frosmoth. Really liked Appletun more then I thought I would. Gotta try to fill the dex and do other post game stuff.

Just finished my playthrough of Sword and was wondering/hoping if anyone here would be willing to help me transfer my team to my Shield savefile.

Meaning I would trade my team as well as other valuable pokemon (such as Eternatus, Zacian, all my Gigas ...) over to you, then you could keep as many non-team pokemon and hold items (Master ball, Lucky egg, fossils, wishing pieces ...) as you want and trade the rest back to me.

Is trading the only way to get the other starters?

I wouldn't mind assuming you don't have like, dozens of stuff you want to transfer. Given we can work out a time.

I finally spent time seriously grinding raids and have some good stuff to offer for trades. The main thing I'm still looking for personally is a non-English Ditto with good IVs, preferably 4+ perfect ones. I would be willing to offer my own 4-IV Ditto in return; it even has Imposter. I have another one I caught with 2 max IVs as well, which I can trade if nobody has a really good one to offer.

My HA mons that I could breed for trading include Reuniclus, Frosmoth, Dreepy, Hatterene, Togekiss, and Dugtrio. There's a couple more that I can't remember off the top of my head. I also have a HA G-max Butterfree that I wouldn't mind parting with. Feel free to hit me up if you want to trade. The good Ditto is my main interest but other rarer stuff, especially with HA or Shield exclusive, is probably welcome.

I actually just realized I could probably easily proc a 5-star Ditto raid, and as long as someone with a different-language game joined me, we could both catch the same Ditto in different languages and then trade them to each other. If anyone wants to take me up on that let me know as well.

There's my 6 Team members, the 2 legendarys and 5 Gigantomax (Charmander, Eevee, Meowth, Drednaw and Sandaconda).
    I am ready whenever.

@zeltrax225 I haven't seen a single notification pop up either.

65 hours later, game beaten. Leon fight was as hard as I expected since my team was made almost entirely of Charizard fodder and I played the entire game with Battle Style on "Set" (something I never did before but I fully recommend. The default option, Shift, makes fights a lot easier than they should be).

Dubwool was the only pokémon in my team that could hit Charizard effectively (Wild Charge), but she is weak to fire due to her ability, so it was a bit tricky. Leon went down after taking 5 of my pokémon and Dubwool being just one round from fainting too, so it was a proper Champion battle, can't complain. Don't think I would have managed to beat him at all if I didn't come through Wild Charge's TR by chance.

Btw, can't say Dubwool was my ace because every pokémon in my team seemed equally capable (Thievul was falling behind, but then Foul Play happened. I love that move now), but it was definitely the one that surprised me. Thanks to Fluffy and Leftovers, the thing was pretty much unbeatable unless it was facing a special oriented Fire type.

As for the game, I managed to have more fun with it than I think I would normally have if I hadn't gone out of my way to improve the experience, but still... underwhelming. 65 hours may look like a lot of time, but is still around half the amount Sun took me, so maybe not that impressive due to my slow play style.
The feeling I had throughout the game is that I was seeing the structure of the actual thing, like it was an unfinished version. Galar promised "greatness", but it was puny. The cities didn't seemed fully implemented; the routes and other areas were disappointingly small; even the Wild Area, apparently the entire focus of this thing, was nothing but a glorified Saffari Zone, lacking anything in it besides just wild pokémon.

    (plot spoilers ahead)
The plot in pokémon games are not a great thing, but this time it was so awfully conceived it actually took away from the entire experience since it dictated how the events and exploration in the game would happen (or as far as the player is concerned, not happen). It was so lousily put together it almost felt like they were doing it purposely bad. For example, there were events when Dynamaxed Pokémon appeared in the middle of a city causing havoc, something the entire Dynamax idea seemed to be conceived for, them being kaijus and all that, but instead of having that be part of the game - or at least just showing it - they continuously made the characters just comment on it as it happened off-screen and your character always arrived too late to see it or was kept away from the action. I suppose having giant pokémon being shown appearing in the middle of the city as the sky goes dark would require a lot of effort/budget/time/skills and I suppose one or more of those they couldn't afford, but then maybe not mention it at all? Why bother mentioning actually interesting events taking place if you are going to keep the character from seeing them? It just highlights how the actual game part is boring.
When the first details of the game story came out, I mentioned I was excited to see a game where your character story actually merged with the main plot instead of you just being a random kid on your way to beat Gyms and inadvertently crossing paths with the evil team, beating it just because it happened to be in your way (not because it was your goal or had anything to do with what you had in sight). But I couldn't be more wrong, this time not only we had that again, it seemed like Gamefreak actively pursued that as they constantly teased us with the plot happening next to you but you being forbidden to take part in it as all the research and exploration went to Sonia and all the action and fighting went to Leon - all until the very last minute when you suddenly stumbles on evil team and beat them (and what was the big reason to finally trigger you entering the main plot? Leon being late for dinner... not suspiciously late, even, he left a message with Piers saying he would be late). The plot itself is also remarkably stupid, "I decided to summon a legendary pokémon to be sure energy wouldn't run out in a thousand years from now and it had to be done today!". Again, is so lazy and non-sensical it almost feels like they made it that way on purpose.
I won't comment on Zacian/Zamazenta part sounding like shoehorned in there because I hope the post-game chapter will fix a bit of that and I haven't done that yet.

The community focused too much on complaining about the graphics (they look totally fine) and dexit (inconsequential) and that ended up eclipsing the real problems with this game. I think it was always obvious the fans would buy any Pokémon game just because it was Pokémon, but for the first time the producers themselves seemed aware of that fact and lowered their bars to that level. The game they delivered settled on just being a Pokémon game and knowing that would be enough. Unironically the weakest entry in the franchise, a shame in particular after the Alola games - handholding complaints aside, Sun & Moon were just brimming with passion and it showed.

As for good things, the characters were good: Gym leaders are very charismatic, despite hogging all the screentime and action Leon was a true proper Champion, Bede was a very nice rival (Hop and Marnie on the other hand...). The new pokémon also looked great in general and the competitive scenario got a lot of attention. I think that's it.

They tried to do a console game with the time and team size of a portable game. In order to keep the budget of a portable game and not cut on to their “biggest franchise on earth” earnings.

Until they do their other m (a true fuckup of the formula), or get another iwata like intervention to clean up their act...

The fragments of the perfect Pokémon game are diluted over the generations and spinoffs, and that is what is frustrating.

I mean, go ahead and point out that the graphics issues are inconsequential. It is the truth. But to say that the graphics are "totally fine"? Come on, now. Ocarina of Time trees are not "totally fine", nor are the overall textures (especially in the Wild Area). It didn't ruin my enjoyment of the game, but it sure as heck wasn't up to par. Especially for a franchise that is as rich as Pokemon. Pokemon games should have a budget even larger than Zelda, yet here we are.

    and dexit (inconsequential)
You're free to not care about it, but there are obviously going to be people that do. Even I - who in recent generations has tried to build a team of mostly new Pokemon - ended up feeling disappointed that almost none of my favorites made it in. I still like to use some of my favorites, and I couldn't do that in this game.

It's all fine and good for not all Pokemon to be available before the main story finishes, but to not have the freedom to pick and choose my favorites after then just feels really bad.
