Do you know that man? Oh, how I miss that man. Excuse me, lady, that man works here?

Honestly, who talks about someone else like that? Specially when you are trying to identify someone and ascertain their status? I honestly couldn't take the chapter seriously after that, I just kept thinking about absurd misunderstandings caused by someone deciding to refer to another person as that man instead of by his name (although in this particular case it wouldn't make a difference since Emma doesn't know how he is called anyways).

If my 15+ years of heavy Japan exposure and the 5 years before that of mild Japan exposure have taught me anything, is that their favorite pronoun is "that person".

It seems pretty obvious now that you mentioned it.

By this point I hope one of our resident Japanese speakers would have explained it, I'm just a humble weaboo so take this with a grain of salt:

Japanese doesn't require to talk about the subject on a phrase, so when it's translated something like "do you like that person" is something like "do you like" with the implication of both speakers knowing who they are talking about. Why there isn't more comedy based on not knowing who "that person" is makes me feel like my interpretation is wrong.

Maybe that's why some mangas' humour relies so much on people talking about 2 different subjects for a whole chapter until the misunderstanding is clear? My reaction is always "why don't you clarify/name the subject and be done with it" but it makes sense if the language doesn't prioritize it.

Pretty great chapter and arc, all around. We're about to find out what Mr. Minerva really left at Goldy Pond and why did he choose such a dangerous place. Plus and infiltration mission from the new duo of Ray and the jerk older guy who is now becoming not so jerk. What do you guys think is in there? A clue about some passage into the human world? How do the demons get stuff from the human world in the first place? Some kind of black market?
