Thread: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

They’re online lessons, I think. If you have the money and are interested, you just need to follow their social media and sign up when they offer them. What’s tougher is getting an audition at Funimation afterwards. I don’t think they really help with that.

From my understanding they certainly can HELP, it’s just not a garuntee or anything. I know a good number of their students have went on to work with funi in some capacity.

This class with Chris I believe is specifically for helping with auditions and things. And yeah it’s online and there’s a fee but the fact that we live in a time where such instruction is possible is incredible. We both have degrees in musical theatre so this is a lot like getting to take lessons from Neil Patrick Harris or sit in on a rehearsal with Stephen Sondheim.

Was kinda hoping the cover would be related to Usopps story, but this cover looks nice.

Cool cover! Wish Sabo or Bart were on the spine, though.

Eh. She isn’t my favorite, and her VA didn’t do her any favors. I was always angry when Kyros showed up to defend her (women can’t fight or find a clever way to win against a stronger opponent?). Following the Franky fight cringe, it rubbed me the wrong way, so I’m not a big fan of her arc and its slightly misogynist tones.

I always loved Vivi. Shirahoshi I liked more, too. There are a lot of crying princesses in OP but not usually enough strong, fighting women. That’s part of why I love BM (also her chaos energy keeps stuff real interesting and less predictable).

Bart is best. Why wouldn’t he be the best choice for spine? Ahem.

I mean yeah, I feel the same. What annoys me about her in particular is shes literally a BADASS GLADIATOR WOMAN, and Oda not only managed to STILL make her a damsel in distress, but to hyper sexualize her as a MINOR at that. I want to like Kyros, but him stealing the spot light from her while also having such a problematic age gap with her mother just, get in the way of that.

The dumb Kuween scene bothers me mostly because how unintegral it is to the plot, you could literally completely remove it and not change a thing. I think the whole hyper-masculinity thing can work without inherently being misogynist, but its a thin line to cross and Oda is not good with those.

I would like Barto on the spine, my boy deserves some spotlight.

You have to be kidding me. They talked about one piece, said new episodes were coming, and showed a VOYAGE 5 TRAILER. They also once again teased a celebration for 1000 episodes, with no further information. What the hell.

Welp, they showed a trailer for voyage five and gave no dates for future episodes. “Celebrate 1000 episodes with us!” Yeah, okay.

This pretty much garuntees we aren't getting anything for at least a few weeks. It would've been a perfect time for an announcement.

Yeah, I figured. Such a bummer.

WHy did they even bring it up. Do they not know what "preview" means? Why would you waste time talking about things that are already out? It literally makes no sense.

Same on the weird Wano trailer they showed afterwards.

And they showed voyage five, not even voyage six. Couldn’t even be bothered to put together a newer—yet still old—trailer.

No idea when the next set will be out. I’ll keep crossing my fingers but outlook doesn’t look good. Probably another month or two, I’d bet.

Would it kill them to be somewhat consistent? I don't even need the most blazing speed on earth, but these inconsistent release windows are driving me bonkers. I haven't been this dissapointed in a long time.

We all had high hopes on the announcements today at this stream, but that was very underwhelming. They seemed to have hyped this stream up for nothing. More fun for the MHA fans over the One Piece fans.

Eh. They’ve never been the most consistent. I guess they’re just doing what they can. It’s not a big deal, but it would’ve been nice for them to give us a date—even if that date was a month away.

I'm nor saying they ever were, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.
