The police in Norway isn't even activly armed. They have their weapons locked in a box in the trunks of their cars. The only time this year I can remember they were armed was when there was a terror threat 4 weeks back.

Norway isn't exactly known for its crime.

But I understand your point. Many police forces over here need to be reevaluated and retrained city by city, county by county. The problem runs deeper than just simple retraining can fix though.

How we'd cover Ferguson if it happened in another country:

I'm about to watch the video but i'm pretty sure it's horribly graphic so keep that in mind before watching it.

Edit: Yeah, it's pretty graphic (Not all the way though). If you really want to watch it the link is in the Gawker article (Also, it's the one it's the one i found but don't see Gawker. It's not really a good site).

Guess they got tired of stoning women accused of adultery so they're going back to another old favorite.

I disagree. Why stop at water cannons? They should switch over to catapulting bear traps. That definitely wouldn't produce the same effect for crowd control

I literally read that as catapulting actual bears in the crowd.

    My sides.

Well I mean of course, it wouldn't be a bear trap if there wasn't a bear in it, would it

It's the same in England even. They only have guns when it's a major drug bust or breaking down some pedophile ring.

I want to bring the current state of USP (University of Sao Paulo) here.

A strike was started in May, after the rector decided to not raise the salary of all workers and teachers in the university. The main goal, though, isn't to make such raise happen, even though it's necessary for the workers, but it is for the rector to admit that his administration is debting the university, (a debt that reached 1 billion reais, or around 450 million dollars, last year, which is leading to cuts on researches and student exchange programs) to change how he's doing his administration, and for the state to change the amount of help given to public education.
Since then, no real negoatiation happened, the rector seems to be just ignoring the strike while the media tries to blame the strikers, making them look like villians instead of victims. The "lockdown" protests started recently: workers close the three main entrances of the university, stopping people from entering it.
Today this happened: http://noticias.r7.com/sao-paulo/fot...82014#!/foto/7 (translation: military police uses tear gas and rubber bullets on protest in USP). That link has some photos.
I didn't have so much hope for a quick and good conclusion of the strike, I always thought it would be a slow process, but a pacific one. Until this.

Any authority figure that doesn't believe they should be challenged is an authority figure that does not serve in the best interest of the people, but in the best interest of themselves and their interpreted power over you.

Of course, there's a time, place, and a way to make those challenges which the article acknowledges. For the most part if a cop pulls you over don't do anything that can be interpreted as a "justifiable" cause for them to do something. In some cases, as rare as they may be but not rare enough, even if you don't do anything rash or unreasonable a cop can step out of line though. Really, cops might not feel safe on their job but when a cop pulls a certain individual over or stops them on a sidewalk that individual might not feel so safe either.

And now Amnesty International is trying to get their foot in the door. Except the police are pushing them back at gunpoint:

Note this is the first time Amnesty Int. has ever had to come to the US for this kind of crisis. Normally they're sent to places in the Middle East or Africa or China or what-have-you.

A challenge for you Obama defenders. What did Obama do after making a statement about the journalists who got his head chopped off by the ISIS? He goes to play golf like he does not care. Obama is not perfect I know yet should he not do something about the ISIS?
