Not only Spanish, but in a sense it was the only true (European style) colony the US ever had. We took it from the Spanish after beating them in a war.

I found an article on Duterte (I tried to translate some parts)
    Spoiler:
About six months after the beginning of this violent campaign, 85 % of people asked by the polling agency Social Weather Stations ( SWS) said to be satisfied by the results of the operations, and 88 % thought that the drug was declining in their communities. However, they were 94 % to think that it was very important to arrest the suspects alive. Furthermore, 78 % expressed the fear to have one of their acquaintance --or themselves-- be victims of extrajudicial executions by militias.

    About environment, somehow--->>
    Spoiler:
Nevertheless, he can advocate at the same time for the industrialization and name Mrs Regina Paz Lopez, an ecologist activist dreaded by the mining and forest companies--- Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources.

    Spoiler:
Having been the mayor of the big city of Davao, and with strong friendships with the Muslim and Communist rebels both at the local and national level, Mr.Duterte is considered as the most credible Philippine president to end in a peaceful way two main Philippine guerrilla warfares.

    Spoiler:
What the Burmese icon Aung San Suu Kyi and the sulphurous Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte have in common? Their caricatural presentation in the media, in particular western, incites to take a stand in the name of moral considerations. The peoples of South-East Asia turn out often less sensitive to the charges of authoritarianism than to the results which they expect of the action of their elected representatives.

What is this idiot even thinking about? For real though. Also, are we even sure he has the nuke? because for some reason he doesn't care about anything and continues to boast off with the missile tests but don't try any new nukes on land......

The U.S. is also sending its 3rd aircraft carrier into the region.

btw, what -in your opinion- are the best papers(and medias) in your country?
I'm asking this for everyone. I think it might be interesting to have an idea of the newspapers in other countries (according to the people on this thread obviously.)

In France there literally isn't any worth reading right-winger paper. So it only leaves us the lefty papers...
I'd say Mediapart and "Le Canard Enchaîné" are the best newspapers. Mediapart is only available on internet and "Le Canard" doesn't have a website and has a weekly issue (and it's a satirical paper). Mediapart is a lefty paper and "Le Canard" is known to have antimilitarist stances. And both are 100% independent.
"LeMonde" and "Libération" are both important daily papers.
There is also "LeMondeDiplomatique" (monthly) that gives original and pertinent views, and it's often very much on the left.
"CourrierInternational" (weekly) whose goal is to translate the relevant articles they can find from foreign newspapers.

As for the news on TV, only the news on Arte (franco-german channel and then "pro-european") are good.

I'm also reading the Financial Times at the University Library whenever I can (that shit is too expensive, can't afford that).

While I believe Print is outdated and not that relevant, but the only decent papers here are Hindustan Times and The Hindu. Both of them are pretty left leaning and majorly partisan,so expecting neutrality from them is pointless. The Hindu also is almost a communist outlet, with it's editorials being full of sophistry. But it's not all bad and they do good journalism i guess.

Other than that There's Times Of India, which is a sensationalist entity often unconcerned with the veracity of news.

Other than that,Livemint is a pretty good and neutral online paper focused on Economics. Firstpost is also a decent online site.

Swarajya is a pretty good Right focused publication, probably the only prominent "Right" media entity in India. It has a lot of well researched in depth articles, and has a variety of opinions on various subjects.

TV channels are all pretty bad.

This is all English of course.Regional languages and Hindu has it's own different world, which i am not very familiar with to be honest

Yes. They have nukes. They are exclusively testing missiles now because that is the technology that they don't have working yet.

I meant that he is showing his missiles on TV but never showed his nukes.

There is no consensus on this matter, part of the specialists believe they genuinely have nukes, and some believe he just piled up a lot of explosives in one place and blew up the area. There has never been any radioactive fallout.

Actually, there is plenty of consensus that they absolutely have nukes. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about.

You don't get widespread fallout if you bury the weapons before detonating them.

In fact, analysis of the aftermath of their very first nuclear weapons test in 2006 conclusively showed that they did, in fact, detonate a nuclear bomb.

So.. when this deal comes through, wall street woud have financed Maduro again, and when things break, we will have to pay back all of that money, that will be wasted on shady deals and elections, maybe food bags here and there.

Accepting a loan that is impossible to pay should be a criminal offense.

I know they're conducting underground nuclear tests. But why does he even care about the treaties anyway ? Why aren't they doing the tests on land? Because everyone would know if they have it through their satellites.

I don't know what you're quoting on this wiki page. Are you talking about the fallouts? (because there isn't) Anyway, North Korea claiming that they have it and being agressive like that is a threat to international peace and stability wether or not they have the nuke.

Also btw, the strongest "nuclear bomb" the Koreans tried was as powerful as the one the US dropped on Afghanistan a few months ago.

Their so-called H-bomb is weaker than the A-bomb dropped on Hiroshima...

    From that exact Wikipedia article:
The low yield of the test initially raised questions as to whether it was a nuclear explosion but detection of airborne radioactive isotopes by a United States military aircraft confirmed that it was a nuclear explosion.
I don't know why you are trying to downplay the fact that the North Koreans obviously have the capability to make nuclear weapons. They even have access to the materials required to build a fusion bomb. Whether the bombs are small or not doesn't matter, if you can make a small one, then you are just a step away from making an enormous one. The technology is not that different.

Besides, all of this started with you questioning whether they had nuclear weapons at all. Which is pretty unbelievably stupid and bordering on blatant ignorance, if you ask me.

It was rhetorical to begin with. And believing they have the H-bomb because Kim Jong-Un said so is stupid.

Also, stop acting as if I was questioning the moon landing. They might have it, could also be bulshitt too, but that doesn't change much on Kim being a threat to the region. He's more crazy than Trump and Duterte. In one hand I believe this might be a lie, in another hand I believe that he wouldn't be that much agressive if he didn't have it.
