You get down far enough and you get some almost tropical stuff yeah, but most of the thing looks like that picture I posted. And my Florida experience was pretty south too, Cape Coral mostly (also drove from there to Tampa then Orlando).
To make matters worse, I lived in Savannah for five years, and even there I could tell the landscape was transitioning to Florida butt swamp, that far from the northern border.

We did a two week round trip from Orlando to the Keys, to the Everglades, Miami Beach and along the shore back to Orlando.

When you've never seen a swamp before it's kind of neat! Especially when you ride one of those airboats when the weather is ungodly hot. >_>

It used to be a big swamp centuries ago, but a lot of it has either been depleted or turned into raw material that is so specific to our country that it doesn't have an English Wikipedia page. We're still flat though! Meadows and forests and nothing else when you move outside of the cities.
