Thread: Random News Article Discussion II

Sounds absurd but I kinda grew up expecting nothing to get done. Back in Colombia they break the roads to begin construction, then it promptly never begins because the politicians just outright steal the money, and no one knows where it goes. So the roads are in an eternal state of crap, traffic, etc.

Compared to that everytime I saw in Houston or anywhere else construction happening and workers actually doing something and a severe lack of potholes nearly everywhere ... felt like this utopia in comparison.

The metro in D.C. is garbage. It's overcrowded, the red line is old and full of constant problems and delays, some of the trains have no A/C in this hot summer weather (believe me, that's messed up especially when there's a Nationals game and all the people try to get on the train), it's expensive as hell, trying to ride on the weekend is akin to wanting to be late to whatever you're trying to get to, and the whole architecture of the stations is dark and gloomy.

It's not all bad of course. It's great for carting people around the city with convenient metro locations. It might be dirty but it's cleaner than the NYC subway. We have a pretty good next-time-of-arrival system and just this year metro started rolling out a new series of trains with updated features (like touchscreen), cozier seats, and a operators voice you can actually hear over the speaker!

    Hidden:

Hey, it's silver. To operate on the new Silver Line. It's no bullet train but it's still pretty neat.

its a utopia until construction causes a fatal wreck and backs traffic up for miles and miles

Somebody is going to wind up getting shot and then we're going to have to watch conservatives get morally outraged at the mere suggestion that all of their rhetoric about the Evil Obama Gubmint taking over caused people to attack the representatives of that government. Same thing that happened in Vegas.
    Complicating things since 2009.

Conservative rhetoric leading to people shooting at the US military is truly mind-blowing in a way.
There's a massive portion of their base that would cannibalize them over this.

I've always been amazed by how so many conservatives don't seem to have a problem with simultaneously holding the viewpoint that cops and soldiers are superheroes that deserve constant praise while also considering them robotic thugs that wouldn't hesitate to take away their rights.

Lulz to be had at Indonesian charity:

They have dismissed criticism as "Western propaganda," and insist claims the North Korean dictator has an appalling human rights record are fabricated.
Suddenly I want to bump this thread.

All this talk about IRAN FINANCING TERRORISM are dumb as hell.

They're all coding it like Iran is related to ISIS and Al-Qaeda or any of that crap. It's nothing to do with that at all.
All of Iran's military funding abroad is local nationalist crap.
Funding Shia movements in Yemen, funding Shia movements in Lebanon, funding Shia governments in Syria and Iraq. Possibly also Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Funding Shia movements that with the exception of Hezbollah don't even attack any direct western entity like Israel. None of these are even creepy hidden ninja bomb men like the Sunni terrorists. They're almost all militia or rebel army type groups...when they're not literal governments.

And the concern is all based around fighting the neighborhood Cold War against the Saudis and their Sunni allies. All about putting and keeping more of their color chess pieces on the Middle East board.
Which can be very bad sure, but NOT in the oily bullshit way certain people are selling it.

    Talk about poetic justice.

That attorney must think people (the judge/jury ect) are stupid to try this spin=

"The explosives he created contained nails and BB pellets, according to reports. One was labeled “powder with nails.”

His attorney said O’Neill was just planning to blow up some tree stumps."

Yeah... right, someone is going to 'blow up some tree stumps with bombs that contain nails and BB pellets. No way in hell ... unless 'tree stump' is the new slur against a non-white person
