A man who raped his three year old daughter was given no prison time because the judge felt that in her words " he would not fare well in a prison"

I wonder if the fact he is worth a shitload of money influence the judges decision

The UN International Court of Justice has ordered Japan to cease whaling in the Antarctic Ocean; despite claims that it was for "scientific" research, there were a grand total of two scientific papers since 2005 about seven minke whales killed during that period. During that time, Japanese whalers had killed over 3,500 minke whales or about fifty times the number that were actually "studied".

I want to say "WOOT!" but like the article said, Japan might just leave the International Whaling Commission and do their own thing, then come back for an appeal. Disgusting.

Go Dilma make the "Truth commission", one of the few things you did that I agree.

It's less that then that he also wanted to tack on a Creationist side note that it wasn't in fact an evolutionary branch of elephants that was Yay years old, but something that popped into existence on day 6 of creation.
So he was trying to amend the scientific thingie with not science.

This is one of the reasons why I'm reluctant about moving to America.

True, and it wasn't very subtle of him but then again he probably wasn't trying to be subtle.

It's South Carolina though; that hardly even counts.

It depends on WHERE in America you move to.

Yeah, I don't see this argument working since it means that heterosexual couples where a partner is sterile or a couple that just doesn't want children shouldn't be allowed to be married either.

Artificial insemination and adoption destroy that argument anyway. Even without having to argue the "purpose" of marriage.

Tbh I agree and I'm quite conservative in this area I guess. Marriage should be about devoting the rest of your life to children. Not that it should be restricted to gay people without plans for adoption of course, but yeah.

And for couples who don't want children or can't have them...?

That would come from Oklahoma. They will say and do whatever possible to prevent something they don't want. I love when it backfires though (like the Satanist wanting to put up a monument on capital.) Marriage sucks anyways.
