Thread: Sword Art Online

Next big arc is almost entirely focused on Asuna, before that there is a short story, I think.

I liked this episode, shows SAO is very flip-floppy, but I like Sinon's character ultimately. There's some really poor writing in between some good things that pulls the whole series down for me.

A friend recommended this to me - Should I watch the Anime or read the manga/light novel?
"Going against the flow? Just means you're swimming in place. One day you are too tired to paddle, and suddenly you drown. Whole thing was pointless and now you're dead THE END. Now, going with the flow is where it's at - and that's the dandy way to live."

You should ignore the franchise and actually read good books.

For the last time mom, I wouldn't make you the offense to watch illegal porn in your living room (at least not without earphones). Seriously you know nothing about anime.
Well then let's watch the first episode of Cross Ange...

Just marathoned the last 5 eps. This season is a mess, I don't like it at all.

I liked GGO as a game and enjoyed the gun fights, but the relationship between Sinon and Kirito is just so fanservicy awful, jeez. Asuna is your 'friend' from SAO? Ok.

    Back to Log Horizon, thankfully.

It makes the rather mediocre Log Horizon look amazing by comparision, indeed.
Oh well, SAO is just a new anime generations' Naruto. Or is that Attack on Titan? after all, both Titan and Naruto started good whereas this was bad from the beginning.

and we're back to shit. It's so bizzare how flip-floppy the quality is. Like, there's legitimately good episodes that make you think it left the annoying shit behind, but then this happens.

I guess Titan is more comparable to Naruto ('cept, it's actually decent). I'd actually more compare SAO to Fairy Tail. It is popular, but not on the Big 3 level. It's really crazy how Titan got that way in only a friggin year, SAO kinda died down quite a bit, I think?

Log Horizon isn't mediocre at all, the concept is completely different.
Where SAO is about being THE STRONGEST GUY and saving the world/a girl, Log Horizon is about world building, politics, the development of society and survival.

Yeah, it's just that it is rather mediocre at just that. Granted I only saw S1 and never read the novels, but it was all kinda bland.

You should really check out 2nd season then.
The whole what-ifs of MMORPG coming to reality is much more explored.

Some things to look forward to, warning: spoiler heavy
    Spoiler:

What really happens if you stay in a different body from your own... you start turning into it.
What if raid bosses also started to gain sentience? Why the fuck would they sit around waiting for enemies to come to them, instead of seeking them out?
What's going on in the rest of the world outside of Japan?
What happens if you start exploiting real world concepts, and apply them to in-game techniques?

    And so on.

That sounds more interesting than the entire second half of S1. Maybe I will catch up later.
