I get what you're saying but there are anime that are far better than their manga counterpart.

It fixes up a lot of the pacing issues from the manga, from what I hear, I don't actually watch it.

Animation, quality fights, the addition of backgrounds, good music, fixing pacing issues, and writers that make better filler stories than the actual canon material. Most of Bleach's popularity probably owes to its very good anime, probably.

Indeed. I don't watch any animes, but what I've seen in the difference between the animes of One Piece, Bleach and Naruto, Bleach seems to be the best one (gasp!).
    Who exactly is Mumbo?
    It's OFFICIAL, UsoppXNami 4ever.

Bleach (the anime) at times does triumph One Piece (the anime).

That being said: Naruto is the worst of the three anime-wise.

    Sheesh.

Sometimes I wonder...considering that one of the biggest fault of Kishi and Kubo is destroying the potential of otherwise possible cool and interesting characters, then if someone with better skill is handling an original story with those characters, like a filler arc in an anime or a fanfic, then it would have a potential to be good, right? Well, Sturgeon's law still applies though, and most of the time we just have Mary Sues and shipping wars...

Hey everybody, today I was on a TV Tropes page called Sliding Scale of Anime Obscurity, which as the title says lists anime (not manga, anime, but regardless) on a scale from so iconic that even non-anime/manga fans have heard of it and every otaku has heard of it (Level Zero); to virtually unheard of and nearly impossible to find, even on the internet (Level Six). There were six Level Zero anime and they were as follows:
    Dragon Ball Z
    Gundam
    Naruto
    Pokemon
    Sailor Moon
    Yu-Gi-Oh!
Discuss what you make of this, I have no comment I just wanted to bring it up, because I thought it was interesting, and in case anyone was wondering, One Piece was at Level One. Well known within the anime community and possibly known to non-anime fans.

And I almost forgot so let me clarify, this is popularity in America. Got that, I don't want anyone complaining about how One Piece shouldn't be in there, because let's face it, Naruto is sadly more popular than OP in America.

Considering this is also the country that loves Jersey Shore, I wouldn't place TOO much dignity on that scale :V

I've heard pray tell that Jersey Shore is hilarious if you don't take it seriously, but I definitely see what you're saying.

In case anyone was wondering why I bolded Naruto, it was just to highlight that bringing up the scale had something to do with Naruto. Also a few of the Level One anime besides One Piece that come to mind are Bleach, Code Geass, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Digimon, Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2 and a few Hayaou Miyazaki films like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.

Gurren Lagann,Yu Yu Hakusho, Fairy Tail, Berserk and Hellsing were at Level Two along with many other series (one of those 5 series is not very good, guess which one). Awesome anime/manga like Baccano!, Soul Eater and Hunter x Hunter were put on par with crappy porn/ecchi series like Ikki Tousen and La Blue Girl which kind of bothered me. SHR, I think you were on to something with that Jersey Shore comment.

    Baccanno! is easily Level One

Soul Eater is easily level 2-3.

I stand by my statement >:D

I'm glad to see Death Note on there. There hasn't been much hype for it except for that fact that you can watch all the episodes now on VIZ's anime site.

Well, remember that this is popularity, not actual quality, they even place that as a disclaimer. But I can definitely understand the sentiment that good manga should be popular and bad manga shouldn't be popular, but sadly that isn't always the case. Mahou Sensei Negima (a positively awesome manga, anime not so much) is on par with Prince of Tennis (in popularity) according to this scale.
    Does not compute.

But... that implies Ecchi/Hentai is popular enough to warrant a place in a tier.

    O.o;

    Oh... I see.

I dunno. I would've figured Astro Boy'd be just as well known as other anime like Sailor Moon if not as many people having read/watched it.

    Seriously? Even popularity-wise, I don't think that's true.

Oh, and Rurouni Kenshin? Hmm, maybe back in 2000/2001

Come to think of it, why the hell isn't Speed Racer on that list?

    THIS right here.

    Everybody knows Speed Racer...

    EVERYBODY.

Even non-anime fans know about Speed Racer, that's saying quite a bit.

Code Geass doesn't surprise me, RuroKen does though, I agree if it was last decade I could buy it, but I don't see RuroKen as more popular than Yu Yu Hakusho. Geass and Kenshin are both perfectly fine if you ask me, they have their strengths and flaws, but you're right that they don't deserve to be at the top of anime rankings. Definitely not on the same level as Cowboy Bebop and on a higher level then Gurren Lagann and Baccano! But thems the breaks.

I never cared about Astro Boy (never been into Osamu Tezuka, though I have thought about it) but it still doesn't deserve to be lower than Bleach. Neither do Akira or Monster, I haven't read either of those series but I know they've got to be better than Bleach.

Thinking about it, Transformers should be level 0 as well since everyone knows about Transformers at this point.
