Skimmed through the volumes and the manga looks awesome especially volume 2. I was just wondering if kewl or anyone who has read the volumes and has an understanding on Japanese could give an explanation of what happen 'til chap 17. Thanks

The second volume doesn't need much explaining but from then onwards there is a lot of dialogue, so I only have a vague idea of what's going on.

This really should be called Giant Killing. Oh wait...

I can't help but to think this Titans are sent by Mother Nature itself. They don't kill any other living being, only humans, and they don't do it for nutrition. They don't have sexual organs, so they don't sexually reproduce themselves, so there goes the possibility that they're simply "created" from something. The colossal titan can be Gaia's response to the human city walls.


Earth's punishment on the humans that infest the planet?

I've seen that theme in other stories, I wouldn't be surprised if it was held over. But if that's the case, can the humans really object to the Giants destroying them?

We have to see where the story goes first, but so far, it is a tale of hate against this giants, and wanting to slay ALL of them. There's no "maybe we did something wrong", just straight hate. In other stories, when manknd is punished, there are some humans who wonder why this is happening to them, and aknowledge they probably did something wrong.
It's still too soon to say if there will be some, uhmm, "understanding" or something like that in this manga, or it will be a giant slaying fest.

I'm pretty sure they're going to find out later on that the giants are actually mutated humans, either from nuclear waste, mad scientist, or other means, which would explain why they're mindless and tend to ignore other creatures than humans, and why there's no children giants.

Quite nice chapter, even though I was kind of spoilt on this development.

Well the art on the giants is fine, only the people are a little blandish.

Also, I realy hope Isayama Hajime is okay after the recent.....ya know.

Vol 3 seeems more dialogue heavy than the 2 previous volumes, so it might take them a while get the volume scanlated.
