Thread: The "Shueisha" Thread

So Kimetsu sold 2.308.140 million copies in a fucking week? Some top 10 yearly sellers from previous years sold that much in an entire year, wow. This is one of the craziest boosts I've seen. The manga is really resonating with the Japanese audience and I think the sales are very much deserved, I love the manga myself.

I think I'll drop both Zipman and Agravity Boys, they don't stand out enough. If I hear good things about them, maybe I'll pick them up again. Hopefully the new serialization round has something to get me really excited. Also it seems like S8 is almost dead, which is good.

Samurai 8 and Mitama Secu-Re-ty are obviously the next victims. It gives a bit of rope for Yozakura to climb back up or else it will be next.

We're not sure about that yet. Remember Yozakura was last place in previous issue.

Goodness, can they confirm a second season already? I know there's a KnY movie coming sometime soon but those sales numbers practically scream for a proper sequel.

It will probably happen at the end of the movie. If they want to really milk things, they'll split the movie into a set of episodes and release it as a mini TV anime season, after the film releases, but that would cut into the profits of the film's ticket and BD sales. Ufotable only works on a small amount of anime each year, so they can only produce so much, plus anime preproduction takes a while. The colossal sales boost will definitely help, but the movie will be canon and it adapts a really important arc in the manga, so I wonder if they'll make a bunch of movie sequels instead of multiple seasons, since it would generate more revenue in Japan.

I sure wasn't expecting a special Death Note chapter right at the start of 2020.

Well, whatever it entails, I'm sure it'll be better than that garbage manga they're, somehow, still publishing in Jump Square.

They have been surfing on their reputation for a while now. Also not expecting much since the 2nd half of Death Note had such a dip in quality.

Bakuman also ended almost 8 years ago. Not the best track record since then.

They only took a three year break, after which they started working on Platinum End, so... Yeah, I agree with you if "not the best track record" = "Platinum End".

Getting all manga in one sitting is unhealthy. Should start to spread it.

I don't think we've had such consistently high sales since One Piece during the Summit War arc and Strong World boost. Honestly, it's crazy (good).

2 millions sound reachable now. Who would have thought ?
