Don't forget the series like Harenchi Gakuen and Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daishou. Those series created the background for Jump's success.

I'm not talking about important series in the time period, but the series that marks a milestone to be the cutoff point for this event.

Aren't those two marked milestone as well? Those two are actually first big hit series in Jump history and spread the Jump's name to the readers.

Yes, they are milestones, but if you are splitting the magazine in 3 parts they aren't as famous or marketable. Last time they did it in 10 years parts, so there was no reason to seek a milestone.

To sum it up my question is why 1980, and the answer that I'm giving to myself is Dr Slump.

It is announced that Shounen Jump is preparing several projects to celebrate Jump's 50th Year Anniversary for next year. For the first project, they going to release 3 parts Shounen Jump Exhibit (1st part going to focus on from 1968 to 1980s).

Maybe they'll manage to get Togashi to release a chapter or two.

I remember that one TV show did focus on Shounen Jump, and many older people (people who are above 50) voted high for those two series (and other classics). So, I don't see them as not marketable. If Shueisha wants to bring older generation, then they will focus on them as well.

I've being wondering. For people who are saying Jump is doomed, are these people think that the manga industry in Japan is doomed? Or are they just saying that?

I didn't know that is a trend for the trolls. What's next? We are heading toward the world without anymore manga/anime?

When a medium is at "crysis" and its about to "die forever" there are two possible outcomes:
    - Evolution of the medium into something better and unique
    - Crash of the medium, forcing it back to it's roots, and be reborn without the weight of what came before

I see that the market has reduced after all the years of One Piece doing crazy numbers, but is it really that bad?

I'm really impressed to Kaito for his/her new work. The editor should have let him/her do the romance series for the first place (not doing the sports series).
