It may go without saying but as long as Oda will eventually finish One Piece i have no worries about that. It's when we talk about HxH or Berserk that i am worried.

On the topic of having to read weekly very long series though, i realized that series like those can be read in different ways: 1) as soon as the chapter comes out to get the general idea of what's going on 2) re-reading a certain arc/saga or the whole series and start noticing foreshadowings or just meaningful moments and what led to them and what they caused in the future.

Some series like OP or Gintama or Toriko really benefit from re-reading them, since there are a lot of things that you may not notice at first (also because of bad translations), and when you do, seemingly unimportant lines of text may be revealed to mean much more. Meanwhile other series (like idk, bleach or other average shonens), really don't benefit at all from re-reading them for how little depth there is to it.

For example, i read Fishmen Island for the first time when it was already done and completed, and i liked it a lot, but i can see that reading it weekly (with breaks and all), may have been tiring at some points. But when i read it all in one go, those moments that may have angered weekly readers, to me where just "lesser" moments in the overall arc that also had much more important stuff in it.

Some people don't like series this long, and others do. If someone likes this kinda series, good for them, but they shouldn't talk shit about people that enjoy more shorter series, and viceversa.

I feel like the length is starting to hurt OP too. I haven't really enjoyed any of the time-skip arcs save for Punk Hazard to a certain extent. If Oda didn't drag things out so much I feel like the length of the series wouldn't matter to me.

The length of the series and your enjoyment of the post time skip material are 2 different matters entirely.

Out of curiosity, at what point did you catch up to the current releases and have to switch from marathon to "waiting in real time week to week?"

If it was your join date it would have been right around Sabondy... which was right around a couple *really* short arcs, the crazy ass war (which was actually pretty short itself) and then the timeskip.

He has the EXACT same cameo in the second chapter, just oogling at the girl's boobs.
    Not exactly a respectable reference

Hey, at least he was with an escort there, not you know, oogling at an underaged teenager's nudity.

Now I'm curious to question to see the meeting.

"we need some kind of leering old man type....but it has to stand out, art-wise."
"how about we make him after someone's likeness?"
    "great! but who?"
    "uhhhh......"
"I know! That man in those entertaining Marvel movies. Stan Lee-san."
    "Ooh okay!"

    I'm honestly baffled lol

What's wrong with the guy's legs in sporting salt cover?!
Soma, Kagamigami cover look rather plain.
I kinda like BC and My hero academia cover.

You could probably ask that about Sporting Salt in general. Nothing like a manga about sports medicine with horrendous anatomy and proportions.
