Doesn't it look exactly like the one panel you posted of another girl a couple of days before? I am lazy to look it up. xD

Absolutely amateurish work. I Was stunned that it was serialized after that horrible oneshot.

Maybe they had nothing better to put.

Well, thank goodness that this isn't a manga that would involve anatomy in any significant way such as sports medicine

I got slightly hyped about WSJ again, so I'll post again the resources that I've found through the years.

Oficial page, available english and japanesse:
    http://www.shonenjump.com/e/

    The List of series:
The most complete list, in japanesse, it might be at 100%

Most likely incomplete, it list around 400 while the wiki is over 600, they might go back to a non weabo curator and become "weekly shonen jump" again.

It's a path fraught with difficulty. Not every "former assistant to Nobuhiro Watsuki" is a success. Some even become assistants to other artists after their solo careers don't quite pan out.

In Akira Toriyama's case, his first assistant (Hisashi "Hiswashi" Tanaka) has had a number of series in the likes of Fresh Jump and Monthly Jump that went on for multiple volumes, yet he never gained much mainstream recognition. Toriyama's second assistant (Takashi Matsuyama) was more of an illustrator to begin with, and mostly draws for magazines (though he's also written books about the things that interest him, like building your own house). His style resembles a weird synthesis of Toriyama and Matt Groening.

Watsuki at least got 2..Oda and Takei...it is pretty rare....

But then he had like Mikio Itou, who for years just couldn't pull of a success through loadsa tries before disappearing, or Gin Shinga and Kazushige Yamada, who completely floundered (though to be fair Gin Shinga may have become so much more given time, having passed away back in 2002).

So like... that's really only a 50% success rate for known assistants (don't forget Shinya Suzuki!), which I'm sure many other manga-ka have had over time

Yeah... just because you can draw, doesn't mean you can tell a story. They're two different skills.

Also, just because you can draw well enough to be an assistant, doesn't mean you can draw well enough to carry a title and develop your own base.

It's not like assistants are disciples of their mangaka selected by the latter after judging their potential.
Also, a lot of mangaka have a lot of assistants (example: Horikoshi has 7, Fujimaki had 10 in his last year) that change over the years. Most relations between a mangaka and the ones he worked for are unknown to us.

This is always worth noting. It's not a mentoring scheme, or an apprenticeship, being a manga-ka's assistant is a job, and it's not always worth reading into relationships between creatives beyond that.

On the other hand you can still use it to draw lines between styles. Yasuhiro Kano's style owes a lot to Ryu Fujisaki's old style, for example.

Mangaka isn't a job about teaching young and aspiring mangakas how to do manga; it is a job about making a manga. So, mangakas do not teach their assistant on how to make manga. What assistant can learn by working under mangaka is about how to draw, that's about it.

Sure, the assistant may show their rough works to the mangakas (if they have time); but, they are not the person who can make young mangakas to serialize in the magazine, that is a job for the editors. If the editors think it isn't good, then the young mangakas work will not serialize.

The famous mangakas do not produce new upcoming hit mangakas. It is just the assistant happened to able to come-up with the idea which able to make a hit, that's about it.

--- Update From New Post Merge ---

NHK (Japanese broadcasting organization) recently aired a special variety (or information) program, called Kono Manga Iine! BS Osusume Yawa. This program is about the five presenters present one manga each which fit for the genre. For the topic, it focused on the battle manga, and it introduced five different battle manga. So, if anyone interested, here are the videos. I uploaded here because 3 out of 5 are from Shueisha. Also, it doesn't have an English subtitle.

    Part 1

    Part 2

    Part 3

    Part 4

    Part 5

    Part 6

Hoshino Katsura has recently announced that she is working on D.Gray-man. So, the return of D.Gray-man should be near.

    Is that thing good?
Nothing exists; even if something exists, nothing can be known about it. Even if something can be known about it,
knowledge about it can't be communicated to others
. Even if it can be communicated, it cannot be understood.

Well its kinda slow and boring during the beginning..but it really kicks off during the second half of the series. And katsura sensei is a really good artist, so the series has some pretty amazing artwork.
