    You should read it!
At first I was gonna call this talking pish, but... Kind of, actually. It's got a lot of the feel of Slam Dunk without being derivative of it, and makes it marketable in the modern age by having it full to the brim with the bishiest characters. I mean I doubt it'll be quite as good, but it might (MIGHT) actually be one of the best since SD concluded.

.... Other than Rookies. Or Eyeshield 21 before the final few matches.

I think it feels closer to ES21 than SD, tonally. a focus on developing characters in several rival teams, and they've already played more games than I think the Slam Dunk team ever did.

not that I'm knocking SD, it just definitely wanted to focus on the interpersonal relationship and drama and stuff, with the games themselves coming second.

I'm not sure about that. SD also did focus on developing the rival characters as well (but not much in the beginning, though).

Eyeshield 21 was over the top all the time and the games were constructed based in over the top metaphors, while Slam Dunk and Haikyuu!! are more mild even in during Comical moments. Do you remember Hiruma antics with the guns and other stuff?
Given that Eyeshield 21 was over the top in everything it did, I don't think is a good comparison with Haikyuu!!

About developing characters in several rival teams, I think all of them do it, really.

About the games, Slam Dunk has more official games than Haikyuu!! right now. Obviously Haikyuu!! will surpass Slam Dunk in that soon, but Haikyuu!! doesn't have that much games either. In non official games Haikyuu!! wins that, given that is more centered in that.

I only read the first couple chapters and thought it was interesting, but didn't follow it's ranking.^^ No really new major titles that stick for jump. At least not since assclass, souma and basket. Let alone juggernauts like op, bleach, naruto and for example death note. If I'm actually right in assuming it sold big?

I know I'm kind of stating the obvious here but holy shit One Piece is popular! It makes the first week volume sales of every other series look like a joke.

Vol. 9 Haikyuu has noticeable less sales than Haikyuu vol. 10 when compared to the descending order the sales go (earlier volumes having higher sales than latest ones).

Close to that! I would wish that at that moment the sales would be a lot, but a lot better! Near 2 million or over it, just like One Piece. XD

Yep, is really weird, it seems a lot of people, around 20k, bought the new volume because of the hype, but don't even cared about vol. 9. Probably they read it from a friend or something.
