Someone has made a quick and dirty scanlation for the 45th Jack Anniversary pages.

Full colour chapter of Kuroko no Basket can be seen here. Fujimaki certainly has it tough right now and I am sorry he has to come through all of this, but this chapter is as bland and uninspiring as every chapter of his manga.

Pointless change, sure. But to be fair it actually doesn't look that bad. Terrible font, but I like the idea of what they were aiming at.

That's me! I'm the quick and dirty guy (wait...), which means I've managed to get linked by you lot twice in as many pages. Blimey, y'all might be my favourite forum ever right about now. (been years since I've been here, so I guess I needed a new account. Didn't all of this used to be darker?)

Oof that's not really on topic at all. Um... The Ooishi Koji figure skating one-shot from the upcoming issue of Jump made me laugh my bum off, I highly recommend it.

    ... Yeah, that'll do

I think that I found a link to the first 100 volumes released by shueshia: http://www.eshita.jp/comics/shueisha/jc001/index.html It's only the covers, series name and author, but a cool finding.

Very interesting to see how got started over 40 years ago. I'm amazed at how standards changed. I mean, Toilet Doctor? (X{) Go Nagai also had Harenchi Gakuen (aka Shameless School), and some of the covers definitely show it.

Early Jump was weird, either the crazy gag manga, or the thick eyebrows, school uniform, moderately built, baseball player, either the guy monopolized all the early covers or EVERYONE was like that.

About the body type, it's interesting that the guys went from "realistic size but ripped" to "KENSHIRO" to "lanky". I'd like to say something about the girls, but the only one in the early covers is the female lead of the caveman manga.

Going throuhg Baka updates I noticed that Go Nagai changed publisher through Mazinger Z's run, I didn't even knew that Mazinger Z and it's creator were at jump.

BTW Maxy, hi, I'm the one who was talking to you yesterday about kanzenban and series who leave the nest of jump, I'm glad that you came here.

Here's another Gigantic resource of WSJ info, that I'll guess that you already have: http://www.biwa.ne.jp/~starman/ I'm looking for one that we used to have that had the series ranking, and what series had color pages since around 2000.

I don't know about since 2000, but for anything from around 2005 onwards I use the Weekly Jump Reader's Journal for TOC info. So that just leaves a bit of a gap uncovered.

Also hey man, thanks for the plug on here, it's been a real boost on what I thought'd be a quiet week.

Mazinger Z's change of publication is a bit of a weird, thing, because from what I can tell it republished the jump material (the first of about a million rereleases. it's Nagai's thing to keep churning out new editions of stuff), then moved into Great Mazinger. Either that or I'm missing some volumes somewhere. Which'll make this coming pod a bit incomplete.

The face type of thick eyebrows and stuff was pretty popular at the time, Kujira Daigo (that series about a giant boy going to school), that one baseball one you mentioned, and the western Kouya no Shounen Osamu all had similar faces (I would hazard there might be the same creator on those last two, but I'm too lazy to double check).

The, er, the change from that and the Nagai-esque styles people were commonly employing to the 80s battle stuff's probably down to western films. I mean you can see Total Recall in Cobra, and Mad Max in Hokuto no Ken, so it seems a safe bet.

I doubt that you'll find it scaned, it's called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harenchi_Gakuen translates into Shameless School.

sadly a lot of Akito Z's thing is a bit too pixelly to make out, but man I love that as a resource for identifying cover numbers and dates (once used it to work out that on the day I was born a Jump came out with Goku in an F1 car.)

The series with the caveman is Harenchi Gakuen by Go Nagai, and the caveman's a teacher in it (BEARDED GODZILLA, NO JOKE). the girl's Jubei, and yeah they're the deuteragonist. Harenchi Gakuen isn't fan-translated, but the raws for the first eleven volumes of the last rerelease it had are still totally floating around the internet (you didn't hear it from me, natch). which is a bit of a shame, because the 12th volume is where the PTA slaughter everyone (long story short: the real life PTA were angry about the ecchiness, which was revolutionary at the time, and led to it being canned. Go Nagai responded by making them brutal, murdering villains. it's pretty spesh)

Harenchi Gakuen was a classic, I remember reading about that in some essential Manga History books like Frederick Schodt's Manga! Manga! The World of Japanese Comics which is a GREAT read if you're into info about older manga since it was written in the 80s.

well it's more a postcard book by the look of it, which'd explain the price. and limited can be such a cop-out term because that basically just means 'no reprints', so considering it's been forever since The Best Damn Game Ever came out, I'd imagine it's not as limited as the seller wants you to believe.
