Fist of the North Star was the most popular 1st chapter ever according to Bakuman, and it got 1st place on the TOCs in Chapter 8. Chapter 9 was only 4th, so yeah.

It'd be more correct to say chapters get ranked from Chapter 8 onwards.

How well it fares would give us a good indication of which series will be canned
Pakki is a short 8 page long gag series which being or not being there has pretty much no effect for the other series.

    What hao-sama said.

    The counting works this way:
8th chapter(1), 7th (2), 6th(3),5th(4),4th(5),3rd(6), 2nd(7), and 1st chapter(8). So you see with the 8th chapter the questionary results for the first chapter of the series

The first volume sold less than 20,000 copies. Which is bad.

So then this eight-chapters ago nonsense should be seven-chapters ago then?

Sasaki posted this link on his Twitter feed. I could be wrong, but maybe this is some sort of continuation of Rurouni Kenshin? Maybe not XD But its pretty likley that it's a new series by Watsuki

New Kenshin...that's really just not a good idea.

It would be better if Watsuki try to do a new western series that don't suck instead of doing an alternative RK.

If only this were an actual animated reboot, but God knows the end of the anime is fine as is *sarcasm*

Though at the same time, I'm excited for more Kenshin manga myself :D

This mainly is due to the live-action movie coming out one month after that series. It might even just last until Watsuki made enough materials to form a volume then stop again.

Bad news: Bleach is in the Top 5. -_-

Bleach is only in the top 5 this week because Gintama is unranked :P
