Thread: Official Manga/Anime Recomendation Thread

MiXiM by Nobuyuki Anzai - This series is really good and it seems to have a very short fanbase around here and needs an occult following but not a following too big. If you like Anzai's storytelling than you'll like this series fair warning though that it starts out as a slice of life comic than turns into an action oriented manga with a great story behind it.

    TORIKO TORIKO TORIKO TORIKO

manly men who eat lots of food, fight lots of monsters, and shed lots of manly tears because those monsters happen to taste SO DAMN GOOD.

I can't recommend this highly enough, it is silly, but SO MANLY.

Cool Re: Official Manga Recomendation Thread

@Sea Nice. See a lot of manga I've read so it actually urges me to read others you've suggested.

Just so I can get things clear is Black Jack the same as Say Hell to Black Jack? Started reading and I wouldn't want to waste my time if this isn't it. NVM that's not it.

Not that I expect Worst/Crows to be totally trite or derivative.
I like it for the humor and the suspense of the fights and the set ups form conflict to conflict. For me it was realistic basing it off my school life but on a much grander scale.

Hope you enjoy it though. I'd say read Crows first since it is before Worst despite neither of them being completed yet.
Mmmaybe I stopped reading this before the cast could get too solidified. It's been a while but my recollection is that the people who warped into that one room tended to change pretty regularly. There was a leek monster, people questioned whether what they were doing was evil, I sort of figured it wouldn't be able to hold my interest.
Not to spoil you but the main character returns and a couple other of the side characters. The whole bringing characters back to life isn't at all like Dragonball. There's a great job done on their development and when Oku does kill a character he really brings finality to it.

Zik Of The 7 Swords: Vision? What do you know about my vision? My vision would turn your world upside down, tear asunder your illusions, and send the sanctuary of your own ignorance crashing down around you. Now ask yourself, Are you ready to see that vision?

Some very, very good recommendations in this thread. Pretty much every manga I've been meaning to delve myself into has been mentioned. What I'm particularly looking for though is...

Seinen. Psychological adult mindfuck seinen, ala Monster & Homunculus. Naoki Urasawa's other works are already on my list and I'm particularly interested in Bokurano, Blue Heaven and Blame.

The recommendation I'd like to make is Blade of the Immortal. (wow, I clearly have the hots for manga that start with the letter B) It has amazing art and the story gets more and more interesting as it goes on.

Freesia, MPD Psycho (every time I see people said Bleach has stylish art, I had an urge to mention this), Nijigahara Holograph, The Laughing Vampire, Ultra Heaven, Eden: It's an Endless World, Mephisto.

For more drama-psychological based series ala Urasawa's work, might wanna try Sanctuary, Me and the Devil Blues, Seizon_-LifE, Solanin, One Outs.

Seeing you list Blade of the Immortal as your recommendation, might wanna try Lone Wolf & Club, Vinland Saga, Shigurui, Ohoku (this one is Josei), The Ravages of Time for the historical element they all have. Perhaps I should throw Lady Snowblood in there as well.

Anyone into campy horror/action manga should read Devilman, it's so awesome. (And when you're done read the third Violence Jack series because it reveals the fate of Devilman and ends in a much happier fashion.)

How is it possible that not one of you (save for Sea's mega-image) has mentioned GTO!? Great Teacher Onizuka is a pretty old manga and it gets a bit repetitive, but Onizuka himself has got to be the greatest manga character of all time.

Manga I consider superior to all others:
    One Piece
    Eyeshield 21
    Berserk
    Dragonball
    Ranma 1/2
    GTO

The top three manga I'd recommend are

    1. One Piece (duh)
    2. Mahou Sensei Negima (Godly characterization, story-telling, fighting, art, world-building, power display everything)
    3. History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi (A bit repetitive and cliche but extremely funny with great characterization and awesome fights.)

I've read the good parts of Naruto and Bleach as well. I've read some other manga I didn't like at all but I can't recall the names, hope they aren't suggested.

So go ahead and make recommendations for me and others. I'd like some manga similar to the manga I rated as great or excellent but I threw up the list just so ppl could get a feel for what I've read.

If this is in the wrong place move it. If I actually failed in finding this thread on this forum can you just move my post to that thread.

Wow about 75% of the stuff you and everyone else has listed, I have not seen. I can't watch or read too many manga/anime at one time. The highest I have going is 3-4 in the week.
Right now I'm only watching OP on Monday.
    Bleach on Tuesday.
Gintama anywhere between from 1-2 episodes a week.
    And Reborn on Saturday.

    Anyway, I recommend:
    SHONEN:
Gintama- it's so hilarious. I hear it's underrated, but I don't see why.

NORA- I only have 2 volumes, but it's really interesting. A high school student gets control over Cerberus.

SandlLand- I'm not sure, but I think it was a standalone from Toriyama. It was interesting.

Bobobobobobobo/ Shinsetsu Bobobobobobobo- No one has said this yet?! See Gintama.

GON- also interesting. about a tiny dragon/dinosaur living his life. There are no words.

Buso Renkin- It's kinda typical shonen, but I still like it. 26 eps.

The Law of Ueki: This show is REALLY colorful. also typical anime. It is strangely similar to One Piece if you count the little things. Heck, at first glance I thought the two main characters looked like Zoro and Tashigi.

Ultimo- I find it really interesting for whatever reason. A high schooler discovers an ancient purely good robot from his past life and a battle between pure good and evil ensues.

    OTHERS:

Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex /2nd Gig- I really love this series. Everyone I talk to about it says they have no idea what it's about because
    it's "too smart".

GON- also interesting. about a tiny dragon/dinosaur living his life. There are no words.

    That's it for now.

I'd say the movie is better than the manga version, but it's still a worth read nevertheless. If you really like Homunculus, I'd say start reading Freesia first before Old Boy.
