I think i'll just pass on this one,

I'll wait for the ps2 translation of this game to come out.
    It should be almost done.

V is probably my least favorite out of the Zenithia saga (IV being my favorite.). But, it's still a fun and challenging game from what I've played of the fan translation. Plus, it has Papas, so that's an automatic plus in my book.

Didn't SE also use some elements from the PS2 remake, like having 4 party members instead of 3?
    Rappin' Chopper:

"Yo; I was a reindeer livin' out in 'da snow! But then this old geeza' doctor brought me into his home! After healin' my wounds, I felt real phat. Then, old docta' Hiruk gave me this blingin' hat! My family beat me, shunt me, but it's all tight. Because I'm doin' my doctor remedies all night. I look like freak with my Human Human fruit. But now I'm with some gangsta' pirates who like to steal loot! All the girls like my blue nose. Yeah; it's the way that I get the *Record scratching*. Usopp's the guy with all 'da glory. He's my main man with all his tight stories. Zolo's Santoryu skills are on ice. You betta' watch out, or you gonna get sliced! Sanji's the cook servin' up the main dish. Don't mess with him, unless that's your wish. Luffy's 'da captain with the straw hat! His Gum Gum skills are real real tight. Vivi's the princess of Alabasta. Now we gotta head there, and we betta' do it faster!"

I own the PS2 version, but the language barrier and load times were frustrating. I use a flip-top PS2 with Swap Magic. I heard about that translation project when I lurked Woodus's boards four or five months ago, but I'm still getting this. Portability, legitimacy, and more content, yo.

EDIT: Oh, and it took me about nine hours to get married. Notice that the timestamp is from past 3 AM (US Eastern).

Unless you own the PS2 ver. of the game (not having DLed it or Torrented it), you are one cheap fellow :P

I'm one of 'em annoyed europian people.
That are actually being screwed over when it comes down to getting RPG's.
So that's why i download most of my games.

At least, that's how i justify my not so legal downloads :P

Ouch, well the UK ver. was released at around the same time as the US one, so you could've gotten it for the NDS at a decent price :P

    My only justification is that I don't have enough income to make up for my purchases ;_;
...but when it comes to DQ, even if I have to wait a month for it and I already am playing the ROM, I'll still get the original copy :)

Been doing some good progress with the game-
    Spoiler:
I am about to get the Carpet. The town that has the carpet has some interesting armours but I'll hold off buying them since my party is still capapble of taking a beating and paying back in full due.
The kids are at Lvl. 20 BTW, I was lucky enough to kill a few Liquid Metal Slimes in the cave south of Gotha.

I beat it yesterday, and finished the bonus dungeon this morning. My main part is the four family members, a Golem, an Archdemon, a Great Dragon, and a Healslime.

Hint: definitely do the third, fourth, and fifth T n T boards. They can yield some really good equipment. The fourth one has a free T n T pass as one of its prizes, so do that one first. The final one has Falcon Swords, Yggdrasil Dew, all four pieces of Metal King equipment, and huge numbers of stat seeds and small medals. There's even a shop that sells Flails of Destruction and Meteorite Bracers. I already bought a Metal King Shield with 50 small medals, and I have 35 more that I'm going to try and spend towards another shield.

^Where can I find the 3rd~5th TnT boards?

Also any tips to eating Bjourn? My characters are in their mid 20 levels (the kids are Lvl. 20-ish)

Bjorn's kind of tricky. The key is keeping your defense up with Kabuff and keeping his defense down by using the Zenithian Sword to remove his Buff and using Sap or Kasap. Also, heal constantly and use Oomph to boost your offense. If you're still having trouble (which is understandable), then you might want to wait until The Son learns Multiheal at level 30.

The 3rd T n T board is in the Fairie continent, which you'll revisit later. The 4th T n T board is in Nadiria, directly south of Mt. Zugzwang on the other side of the poisonous marsh. The last board is in the Bonus Dungeon near the entrance, but is only accessible once you've beaten the boss of the Bonus Dungeon.

OK thanks for the help, BTW is there a place to quickly gain levels other than south of Gotha?

Well... from where you are in the game right now... I'm not sure. You should definitely have the Magic Carpet from Lofty Peak if you don't already. The best spot for leveling until the endgame is probably either the cave north of Whealbrook (accessible with the Magic Carpet) or wherever you need to advance the plot next.

Any tips for getting a lot of casino tokens quick?

Default Re: Dragon Quest V to be released in Q1 2009!

    Here's how I did it-
    Buy 50-100 tokens
    Save ur game
Go to the 1 token or slot machines and place 9 tokens and keep playing them till you get around 1000+ tokens (you may get lucky eventually)
After getting 1000+ tokens, save your game
Now go to the 10 token slot machine and place 90 tokens and keep playing til you get 10,000+ tokens
    Save your game
Now go to the 100 token slot machine, place 900 and keep playing till you get enough tokens to buy whatever equipment you want.
Reset when you used up all your tokens or are unsatisfied with the results.

Within 2 hours or so I managed to get a good enough Tokens to purchase the stuff from the casinos.
I bought 3 Falcon Earrings for my 3 slimes and a Metal King Sword for the Hero, the Falcon earrings are good for fighting Metal slimes, but the MKS is great for overall damage.

Thanks, I'll give it a go. I was playing in the monster arena for a while, but it would take ages to get enough for the MKS.

Is it better to play in Fortuna or the boat?

Either is fine, I only did it at Fortuna so far, the prizes at the Boat are the same IIRC.

OK an update on quick token gain that I just learned this far into the game-
In Fortuna's casino, go to the 2nd Machine from the left in the back row (the 10 token ones). Apparently this one has a higher chance of gaining tokens from it.

One more thing I forgot to mention; if you do get a lot of tokens even if it isn't the amount I mentioned, save and then play again til you get a lot more.

I managed to get enough tokens for the MKS and the earrings in a couple of hours doing what you said. I got 10,000 tokens now so I might try and get the Gringham whip.

I'm nearing the end of the game, where them Metal King Slimes at?!
