Hmmm....I've always been interested in Evangelion but I never got around to seeing the whole thing. I hope it's good and it's nice to see that Anno is doing it the way he wants it to be. Seems interesting though.

Too bad the live action movie is comming out in like 2010 or something.

He represented how Anno wanted this to be his story and not appeal to those interested in the same kind of story and characters we've seen repeatedly.

Yeah, except the characters still easily fit into the same shitty archetypes that have always been used in manga and anime; nothing about any of the Evangelion characters were revolutionary. Moreover, there was little to no character development throughout the entire duration of the Evangelion series, unless you count Asuka turning into a vegetable from being mind-probed. Each and every character acted exactly the same: Shinji cried, Asuka bitched, Rei said nothing, Gendo acted like he didn't give a shit [even though he was a wuss inside too], Misato continued to be a drunkard that had remorse for everything, Ritsuko was still a one-dimensional bitch, etc. Nothing changed. Rei smiled once, and Shinji, within the last 20 seconds of the entire 26 episodes, instantly decided that he's worth something, but that's basically it.

Having always taken notice to the overall corniness and melodramatic theme of Evangelion, this new movie doesn't seem the least bit interesting. The only interesting thing about the entire series was that a good portion of the Angels were extremely creative in appearance. Oh, and seeing Asuka "die" in The End of Evangelion was greatly appealing. And seeing Asuka/Rei getting choked on the beach. Shinji should'a just strangled every character in Episode 1, saving us all a lot of time, since they all die, anyway.

I think it's easier to explain why someone doesn't like it, rather than to explain why someone does like it. :) I guess I just liked the charicters. I wish I could have seen more of what happened with them. I like the realistic way, they deal with their situations. (not like dragon ball over the top nonsence) and you have to admit, the EVA/Angle fight scenes were epic.

People think crying = Deep insight into human emotion.

When really, it is just annoying. I still haven't finished EVA because of the fans really. Expectations set too high for what it turned out to be.

and I never liked 3d animation. Always though hand-drawn looked better. SO I'm interested to see what they intend to do with this.

Shinji is a pure failure, plain and simple. He had a choice to make, and his choice was to cry like a fuckshit.

Nothing was ever accomplished in Evangelion, aside from every character realizing what utter morons they all are, then doin' nothin' to change it.

well it never really had a proper ending. (i don't consider EoE a proper ending btw) so maybe something will be resolved this time.
