    Peanuts trailer!

. . . . for next year. Jesus, that's a long way away. But it looks gorgeous, CGI disguised as claymation.

Peanuts having detailed textures and backgrounds just seems wrong.

Trailer for George Lucas's Strange Magic. Strange that its out in 2 months and only just now getting a trailer.

Designs and art direction look cool. But the story... does not. And well, George Lucas.

But hey, apparently featuring classic songs!

    But not ELO.

Lucas just came up with the basic storyline; the screenplay is by somebody else.

Little Prince eh? That trailer looks like it might be something special.

    ...in a year.

    ...in French.

Well, maybe sometime in 2016 we'll see it.

Oh my god that looks amazing. I need it in my life.

When he says, "S'il vous plaît, dessine-moi un mouton!" I got so many chills.

Just saw Ernest and Celestine for the first time.

A really cute and really darn good movie. Maybe not spectacular, but it accomplishes exactly what it sets out to; be a funny and charming movie that pretty much anyone can enjoy.

What's interesting though is, despite the sketchy/water-painting design of the film, it kind of reminds of anime with its frame rate and the characters' expressions and the timing of their actions.

Oh, and English dub is fantastic. Especially Celestine, whose voice is just as adorable as her design.

So yeah, totally recommend it. If you have Amazon Prime, you can watch it for free.

'The Lego Movie" didn't get a single Oscar nomination, but Chris Miller and Phil Lord's responses to it on Twitter are awesome.

So "Everything is Awesome" being nominated for Best Song doesn't count?

    Oops, missed that.

Still sucks that it wasn't in the Animated Feature Film category though...

I'm fine with it. Its a movie everyone *assumed* was going to be dumb that you actually have t see to appreciate, so its likely most of the academy didn't actually see it.

Besides, Song of the Sea *and* Princess Kaguya both made it on, so that's not only two foreign films, its two traditionally hand drawn films, and those are both very good things.

Either of those winning would be a good thing, but I assume it'll go to one of the american ones.

    “Big Hero 6”
    “The Boxtrolls”
“How to Train Your Dragon 2”
    “Song of the Sea”
“The Tale of the Princess Kaguya”

Dragon made the most money, the first one lost out to Toy Story 3, and Dreamworks hasn't won since Shrek in 2001, so it might be their turn.
BH6 would be a chance to give a superhero movie an award outside of special effects, but Incredibles already did that 10 years ago.
No one saw Boxtrolls, so it seems unlikely but hey, the Wallace and Grommit won that one year.
No one's seen Sea yet, so who knows.
Kaguya was beautiful, but very long and VERY Japanese, it doesn't have a chance.

SERIOUSLY? Lego Movie didn't get an Oscar nod? I'm in shock.

As much as I love stop-motion animation, I seriously would have replaced Boxtrolls with The Lego Movie. The Lego Movie didn't have the art of The Boxtrolls (although the CGI was brilliant), but the story/writing was much, much better.

I think I read something about a movie needing to be 75% animation to be nominated, and perhaps that's why Lego didn't get a nod. I'm not sure if that rule is true or not, but I don't remember the live action stuff being that long anyway.

Happy Feet won that one year, so Idunno about such a rule...

I'm fairly certain the academy just stopped at the title and went "LEGO movie? LEGO movie?!!?! No way scoff scoff"

After Brave winning in 2012, I stopped taking it the Oscar seriously.
