Anyways, got me a Yuri doujinshi today, it says NamixVivi on the cover and everything, but its mostly RobinxNami *squee* and looks so cute...even if Robin looks about 10 years younger >.<

Although Hand Penis for the win XD

Thanks, what you supplied for me originally was a good start. Feel free to PM me more of your best guesses and I'll try to fill in the blanks when I can. Please read the rest of this e-mail for information about format, contents, etc. What I've said to Local about hentai applies to yaoi as well -- especially hard yaoi.

BTW- that Usopp picture you posted... HOT!
Yes, one of the best pictures of him that I've seen in a doujin.
I didn't have time to provide complete information about the doujin that it came from -- I'll do that soon. It's currently for sale at JPQueen too. They have 2 copies!

Local -- thanks for the offer, but please follow these guidelines:

    (1) Keep it clean -- the FAQ is for information, not titillation. (Look at my blurbs for Ajimiya, Wave and Hachimaru for examples of how to talk about hentai and yaoi in direct, but not offensive, ways.

    (2) Briefly describe what makes that artists' work different from other artist's work who are doing the same kind of thing (again, keep it clean -- focus on the writing, the art, the layout, etc not on the sex).

    (3) state all known pairings, using the established form:
[dominant partner] [level of explicitness] [non-dominant partner] and state that it is "hentai", not "het romance" -- because there is a difference.

Please don't post your submissions in this thread. PM me your work instead. I'll double-check it, reformat it, and add it to the FAQ.

    Thanks!

EDIT : one more quick thing -- avoid editorializing. No comments about how hot Robin is or how much you hate Zoro. You wouldn't see that in an encyclopedia or catalog, so please don't include it in the FAQ (which is like both). Save all the editorializing for the thread itself!
    :)

My apologies for the double-post, but I've finally found some COA doujins for Raj, and check this out, some of the auctions have scans of the insides as well as the covers. Sweet!

Nobody draws eyes quite as expressively as COA does. Beautiful art in this one ... a little bit like Wave's style -- but softer, more shojo:
    http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g57791613

Easily one of my favorite doujin covers -- excellent illustration, excellent layout, excellent fonts, excellent lens-flare effects, etc ...
    http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f59162359

The art inside this one isn't quite as sturdy as other COA doujins -- perhaps it's an earlier doujin, or maybe this is a different artist than the usual one.
    http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g53130252

As soon as can I get a little more information about COA, I'll add them to our FAQ artist list.

    ------------------------------

And a few other doujins from YahooJapan, while I'm at it:

I have a lot of respect for NoneCo, they're capable of complex, mature stories, and the art is usually first rate too. Check out this anthology cover:
    http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g57782517

Ghosts infiltrate the Merry and create confusion among Mugiwara in this early All-Chara doujinshi by Hachimaru. Great Halloween cover image tool:
    http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b76889126

Here's a rarity -- looks like this doujin has a story about Vivi and Mr.9!
    http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f52518194

It's always fun to find Pandaman in doujins -- can you spot him in this one?
Nice artwork here too, especially that picture of Crocodile:
    http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/100569585

Excellent cover on this All-Chara doujin -- that picture of Sanji kicking Usopp had me laughing for a long time as well. In that picture on the bottom right, Zoro's nose is so long an angular that he looks like a hawk or an owl
    http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e68485535

Need a sword? Mihawk will be happy to sell ya one...
    http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n49517771

Buggy and Alvida fans, check out the back cover of this one!
    http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e68485649

Nami tries to get Tashigi to dress "girly" in this All-Chara doujin:
    http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k44392397

NoraDora and Bounty1Berry: if this cover is to be believed, then your beloved Cat Bros and Fishmen are among the "and enemies" that Zoro encounters:
    http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d72999421

Excellent Tim-Burton-style cover image of Choppy and Luffy:
    http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m42860345

Oh Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, thou shitty bastard... ;)
    http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r37713968

Interesting smudgy-style cover pic of Zoro

Toshiya : CHOPPERMAN! (the description says ZxS though)

Now that is an adorable cover!

Ooh, I used to have that doujinshi (translated, too.) saved on my computer before it crashed... it was awfully cute. If anyone has it, translated or not, do they mind scanning it in for me?

omgmark's just got himself a post Water 7 anthology book yaaaaaaaaaay.

Pretty much awesome, although it is mainly yaoi, that means lots of LuccixPaulie, KakuxZoro, FrankyxIceburg and a couple of LuccixLuffy, SanjixZoro and a major cute Robin+Chopper one, where she dreams of being eaten by Saulo 0.o and then Chopper lets her use his guard point as a pillow, so incredibly cute <3

I'll scann the cover sometime over the next few days if I remember, pretty much awesomeness!

Thanks for the new doujin info dinty! I've found myself another few titles to look for now XD. I'm glad that Anime Expo is in two weeks. I'll probably buy a bunch of OP doujins and post what I can figure out once I get back XD.

Oh and Local, I think I know what anthology you were talking about. I was hoping to buy it, but I've never had the money to afford it. Grr. It has all my favorite W7/Enies Lobby pairings too. Oh well. If you don't like it....you could always sell it....to me....
    >_>

    <_<.

Enjoy it Local, lol. I know you'll love that Robin story. It sounds so cute. X3.

Does anyone know how to identify con booths that sell doujins?

That may be so, but the fact that in the midst of this seemingly sweet, sweet story, Robin states "I want to be consumed and digisted like a marshmallow by my fellow man" just obliverates the cute factor. It's like seeing a cute puppy act all cute.... then see him pull out a knife and slaughter his kin.

o.o Do people scan/translate them like normal chapters of OP? Because I'd like to download them...it'd be too complicated for me to get my hands on them physically. *-*

Welcome Ms.RZ -- [great avatar -- and yes, I would understand. haha! ]

People do scan and translate doujins, and those scans are traded around here, but please promise me that you'll at least attempt once or twice to purchase some of your favorites, even though it's complicated and/or expensive. Doujin artists need our support -- they need to know that you appreciate their hard work, and they also need your financial support, because many of them are selling their doujins at a price that is lower than the cost of creating them. If you look through the doujinshi thread FAQ, you'll see some info about the best, cheapest and safest ways of purchasing doujins. Of course, if you live in Japan, the best way to purchase doujins is directly from the artist, either at a convention or through a website mailing list.

For translations and scans, the best place to go is the Grand Line Daily Vine, which you can find a link for in the top of the AP General OP section -- scanlations are usually in the "other/misc" category. Also, if you tell us which pairings you prefer, or which kinds of stories, then some people who like those pairings also may PM you and offer you scans to trade.

But I can't promise that it will happen. It doesn't always happen to everyone who asks. Scan sharing is a privilege, not an obligation.

    Hope that helps!

I know where to find the booth at AX. I can take you there. Cosmic might be rummaging through it as well. The booth I'm most familiar with sells all kinds of doujins, and has them divided by anime/type/pairing. All of the doujinshi are sealed, so make sure you've paid attention to what section you're in before buying. You may end up getting more/less explicit than you may have wanted.

Also! If you intend on buying anything that has an age rating, be prepared to show a Photo ID. Just a heads up. It's most likely cash only as well.

Last year, I browsed through the all-chara/shonen-ai sections out of curiosity, and found that the small single story books can go from 5 to 12 dollars depending on length/artist/circle/how old it is.

I didn't see any anthologies, but I'm sure they were up for sale, at a slightly more expensive price of course.
