  1. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

It's been a really long time since I was last around. Ahhh....the life of an archaeologist.

    Hope everyone's been doing well.

Zephray, I get what you're saying about the backstory and Zed not...
  2. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Haven't been around for quite some time, so I'm a bit behind on current events. Any word on Hands Up for us or are we still getting a rather long period of We Go for the home releases?
  3. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

I have been critical of Joel in the past because there are noticeable differences in casting and delivery when he takes over. That being said, he has improved a billion-fold. The last couple pages...
  4. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

There seems to be a lot of assumption where Funimation is concerned regarding early streaming. The simple fact is, we don't know why One Piece isn't getting early streaming. All we know is that it...
  5. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

    Time for a.new thread!
  6. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Its funny. The two arcs that get the most hate, Skypeia and Fishman Island, contain some of the series most important plot points.
  7. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

I don't think we should take it for granted that we will, but given all the evidence, the odds of it getting a home release sub only is incredibly unlikely.
  8. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Since the subject has come.up, there's something I've wondered about something Mr. 3 said way back in Little Garden. When Luffy comments about his hair being on fire (I beleive its then), I could...
  9. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

I think he understood just fine.
  10. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Cooking with Sanji. Easily one of the most enjoyable and original extras to date.
  11. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

My guess is that, if anything, there are contractual/legal issues keeping this from being done.

Also, regarding the whole Ace revealing different fathers....

I think we might be blowing this...
  12. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

I don't think I can agree with this more...it's no secret that for a lot of voices, for quite some some, I have been unhappy with to START. Most have grown on me. Granny Nyon is the only one I can...
  13. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

I don't think anything was revealed prematurely. Luffy's father was revealed long ago and the context of the conversation was meant to establish different biological fathers.

    As for the rest of...
  14. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Honestly, in the history of this thread and it's previous incarnations, that people almost search for reasons to criticize Funimation for their efforts. So I find myself almost hypersensitive to them...
  15. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Regarding the commentary on the cover, I would ask for at least a little understanding....

Essentially, no matter how they did it, someone would have been cut off. Bon Clay is clearly considered...
  16. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

I don't think this is really a concern for three reasons:

    1. Most of the VA's needed for characters in Marineford are Funimation regulars OR

    2. Are also in the Impel Down arc.

    3. Most new...
  17. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

When Nyon sounds as if a man was trying to emulate an old woman voice, then no, comparing it to 4kids is not ridiculous. And Momonga, as I mentioned, was played a bit melodramatically. Listen again...
  18. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

After watching a few of the new episodes....

Mike so needs to get back into the director's chair. Nyon was so unbelievably horrible that it made me wonder if they contracted out 4kids. And...

Re: Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)

I haven't read through all 13,000+ posts of this thread, so my apologies if I mention something already discussed but I would like to bring up a few things regarding new crew members and certain...
  20. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Thing is, no license=no materials with which to even record.

So if they say they are recording, then they have to have the license, whether or not they've announced it.
  21. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

This is something that I suspect can vary depending on how many properties they are working on at a given time. The more they have, the less they can work on regular, long term properties , such as...
  22. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

But the possibility is so low that it's hardly worth worrying about. I rank it as worrisome as whether or not Funimation is going to continue, which is to say, I'm not concerned in the slightest. In...
  23. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Coby and Helmeppo were a different situation. Why Coby was changed, I don't know. It is likely it was because of his drastically different appearance. Who knows? Maybe they did try his original VA...
  24. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

I'm pretty sure that most of the VA's working on One Piece knew going in that it would be for the long haul. It may even be in their contracts for the roles.
  25. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

I think Anonymous is looking higher than dubbed anime openings...
  26. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Well, the dubbing rights for the openings/endings are a whole different issue. Funimation wanted them. And it may not even be Toei that was the holdouts.
  27. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Not sure I can buy that too heavily. And I'm not talking about the global political assessment, which is way off the mark. Kodansha hasn't shown too much worry where Fairy Tail is concerned, and with...
  28. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

This. And I think Fairy Tail is a good example in this regard. Of course, adjustments should be made given Toei's reverse importation fears.
  29. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

A broadcast dub, in addition to the reasons already mentioned, has too much potential to lessen the quality, or slow the release of the DVD sets. Both at once is a lot of work. I could see a...
  30. Re: Funimation DVD Discussion III (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Ok, I guess my memory did misserve.

Still, whether or not an announcement happens, there is no doubt in my mind we're getting Marineford, Fishman Island and everything else.
