Re: The Wheel of Time (Spoiler Warning)

Mat's arc is easily the wildest and least predictable of the main three. It's a fun ride.

Speaking of which, they've recast Mat for the second season. I've mostly enjoyed Barney Harris's portrayal...

Mat becomes a very fun character and really starts coming into his own starting in book 3.

Re: The Wheel of Time (Spoiler Warning)

Definitely agreed that the first episode is the weakest. The opening scene is pretty lackluster and it's hard to get a feel for any of the characters. I enjoyed episodes 2 and 3 quite a bit though!

Sticky: Re: American Politics: A Brand New Day

Maybe Bolivar? I don't know how much his actual politics are idolized as opposed to him just being an (inter)national icon.

We don't even have to go that far. If he didn't have a gun, he wouldn't have killed Rosenbaum and he wouldn't have been attacked by the mob.

Everything stems from that first incident. Shooting...

Re: The Wheel of Time (Spoiler Warning)

Perrin's stuff makes a certain amount of narrative sense but is also such a huge, dangerous deviation from the books. I absolutely get what they're going for, but I think it would have been better...

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee is a fantastic pick for Iroh, no complaints at all there. Not as familiar with the other two but both certainly look appropriate.

Re: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero

The Cultural Festival arc is very easily in the top 5 best arcs of the series. It's basically a Spider-Man plot: a goofy but driven villain attempting to derail a nice school event and Deku's got to...

Re: The Wheel of Time (Spoiler Warning)

Definitely could use recontextualizing, but Mat and Tuon are fun together and I'd hate to lose all of their combative dynamic.

I hope the show finds more things for Perrin to do. He had that fun Two Rivers plotline early on and then had essentially nothing to do for the rest of the series.

The W&W are mostly middling but fun enough. I wouldn't criticize people for mixing some of them up if they weren't framing themselves as an authority on Sanderson books.
