Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

Toph definitely can't bend plants. Earthbenders bend minerals, which exist only in small amounts in living creatures. Water is way more plentiful in plants, but even then it takes specific...

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

The Deus ex machina at the end of Season 1 is one of my least favorite things I've ever seen animated. It's horribly invalidating.

You're also right about the showrunners' uncertainty. Seasons 1...

Iroh is a fan favorite and the old man 100% earns it. He won't be around for a while, but...

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

There's an episode right before the finale literally dedicated to making fun of the show itself. No, the humor is here to stay.

You might have seen our discussion a few months back about the different merits of the three seasons, and it seemed like the general consensus was that each season improves upon the last one. The...

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

Yeah, that's about the review I was hoping for. It doesn't help that the show is targeted at a somewhat younger audience and most of us here watched it at a younger age, when our standards for...

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

Zuko and Iroh's story is arguably the most beautiful thing in a really good series. That reunion scene and Iroh's picnic in Tales of Ba Sing Se always get me.

Aang learning to remove bending is a...

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

You'll be happy to know that the back half of Season 3 is extremely good, if pretty light on hijinks, and culminates in a spectacular finale. In my opinion the weakest episode of the bunch is a...

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

Sounds about right. Mei and Ty Lee don't have the widespread appeal of the other favorites you mentioned but each has their own base. Suki is just kinda there.

I'd rate foamy mouth guy and the...

Where would you put Azula, Mei, Ty Lee, and Suki?

Appa is obviously a fan favorite too.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

Yep, season 2 is the consensus worst season of Korra. Season 3 is probably the best though, so there's that.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

The show veers into significantly darker territory in the second half of this season, and while there are some great light-hearted moments mixed in, there are no more goofy adventure episodes until...

The Fire Nation has a number of colonies and controlled towns along the western part of the Earth Kingdom continent. I believe only the Fire Temple episode takes place in the Fire Nation proper.

Do they include Sparky Sparky Boom Man?

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

The Great Divide is watchable just for the three legends. It's certainly not a great episode but by most series' standards it's perfectly fine. The moral of the story wasn't half bad either.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

Each season is better than the last. The first half of season one is cute but rarely amazing, but it absolutely ramps up from there.

Sokka, Zuko, and Iroh are all fantastic. Aang and Katara...not...
