    Re: The Goode family

I've heard a couple of critics say that environmentalism is basically too good for satire. I think it's ripe for it.

They were nothing great, but sometimes when I'm in a pop-punk mood I'll listen to them.

Re: ABC News Special: Earth 2100

Why are you even considering mythology to be correct?

Those guys couldn't even predict the Spanish, anyway.

Re: ABC News Special: Earth 2100

The commercials made it sound really...propaganda-y?

It reminded me of that Obama special that aired around the election.

Re: The Tonight Show with Conan

About Letterman, his 80's Late Night work was some really groundbreaking and hilarious stuff but now he just seems like an unlikable cranky old man.
  9. Re: Fusion Fall Commercial (Dangerously Close to) Promoting a Sterotype?

Haha, I saw that. It left me wondering "Did that really just happen or did I imagine it?"

Re: Create Your Own Devil Fruit

The Babel Babel Fruit, which makes your enemies forget their language and makes each one speak a different language to each other...so as to cause confusion and unrest.

    Re: Villains comeback

I would love to see CP9 join the Strawhats' side. There's a lot of character development potential there.

It would be cool to see the Skypiea residents make a return, too.

    Re: Full Metal Alchemist Discussion

I like that the brothers don't know Barry when they first meet him. In the original show, it just seemed like a dumb twist that they had already run into him.

    Re: Tin-Tin has been cast.

I grew up watching Tintin on Nickelodeon. I think my generation is the only one who's really aware of it in America.

I've started reading the comics, and the artwork is unbelievably good.

At first I thought Gurren Lagann was going to be one of those second tier Gainax shows like Mahoromatic or that one with the maids.

    Re: Shintaro Kago

They don't, really. Most of his works are just exploitation-style dreck, but some of his work (like the one in my OP) do a really good job of pushing the comics medium to it's limit.

    Re: The Movie Recommendation Thread

If you ever feel depressed, just watch Pier Paolo Pasolini's Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom and you'll know that some people have got it much, much worse.
  25. Re: I'd like recommendations for more Japanese music

Flower Travellin' Band was a great pyschedelic band from the 70's, sometimes compared to early Black Sabbath. It's not your typical j-pop/rock, though.

So yeah, this guy's made some pretty screwed up short mangas. Any fans?
