Re: One Piece 987: Vassals of Glory

My feelings of that aura started to crumble at the time Kaido showed his dragon form, albeit very slowly. Because I felt the form was a little bit wasted. (kouch explains it more detailed somewhere...

Re: One Piece 987: Vassals of Glory

That's exactly the problem with Kaido. A good major villain needs to have this kind of "aura of invincibility". Actually I don't really care anymore whether the scabbards inflict a wound because that...

    Re: Time Paradox Ghost Writer

A villanious main character is perfectly fine, if only the narrative fully acknowlegdes it.

Like I sympathized with Walter White to the very end. As Breaking Bad knew to never try to sell me...

Sticky: Re: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !

This is a strawman which completely misses the point - which is:

Completely independent from any power level debate, Kaido on a narrative level is not a well-written character. And because of...

Sticky: Re: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !

Nope, Oda completely messed up the Oden vs. Kaido fight. It isn't even the fact that Kaido lost by itself. That'll actually be okay, if executed properly. Instead it's because Oda completely ignored...

Joy Boy is no troll, though. Whereas I don't agree with everything, it's not that his complaints are completely baseless.

I'm okay with this very scene here. But I overall agree that Oda messed up...

I think at the end Law will betray Luffy - by trying to perform the immortality operation on Luffy against his will.

It also doesn't help that Law has one of the worst DF-abilities in regards to brokenness - second only to Sugar.

It's so broken that Oda had to limit the powers by adding an MP/stamina bar.

I'm still interested, however, this series really has some serious pacing issues. And it lacks a proper thematic focus which series like One Piece and Naruto managed to perfectly establish in their...

That's actually the best argument AGAINST Yamato joining. Assuming Oda intended her to be Strawhat material, shouldn't there be at least some kind of interaction with her in the Oden flashback? Or,...

I'm perfectly fine with him as a character. As long as the narrative itself never ever will try to sell him as anything other than a heavily flawed character.

Nah, I'd say it's more related to something like thematic cohesiveness. There is some drop of quality regarding how the core themes and values of the specific arcs are presented and executed.

It may not be a plot hole on a textual level, however, it completely falls flat on a subtextual level. Because the subtext told us about these standard mafia methods which Daz nailed perfectly.

I think the final villain will be Rocks - because I voted that for some reason.

Hopefully Teach will turn out to be the incarnation of Rocks so that I end up right in the end.

So is the fifth act always shorter in a kabuki play? And what about the length of the acts in general, are they the same length (minus the last act?) or depends it on the specific play instead?
